I love the new apex legends/fortnite chapter.
Seriously the new Battlepass crossover with Fortnite and Apex legends is EVERYTHING. Whoever decided to do this, they need a raise, it's so ground breaking and original. The cosmetics behind the 1000 Auric cell paywall, BRILLIANT. I am so GLAD that this is the primary focus of the game. Ya'll were on a roll, and now, a hard turn for the better, money money money. Obviously the gaming community wanted more of this. So glad nothing was revealed to us or teased about the archives and we just got to see that it was a Battlepass on our own, thank you BHVR, this is truly a great moment. Maybe you guys can potentially put DLC on the Battlepass given they cost less than your Cosmetics.
Sincerly, someone who has put in over 1500+ hours in the game.

It was revealed/teased a while ago... in the 3 year anniversary stream lmao. Why are you so salty. Just don't pay for the premium pass and get the free pass...
6 -
Nothing revealed or teased? They told us its a battle pass in June on the anniversary stream...
They didn't blindside anyone it was expected way in advance
3 -
Salty? This was nothing but positive feedback, why would I have a reason to be salty? I am very confused.

You do realize that currently a SINGLE cosmetic costs 1080 auric cells right? How is 1000 auric cells a cash grab when you are literally getting more bang for you buck?
Edit: plus on top of that, you get rebated for the pass meaning if you complete it, you will have enough auric cells to purchase the next one free of charge. And if you really want to purchase only a specific cosmetic you can wait until they release them to the store 6 months later.
7 -
And that you can get them for free too? Nothing is exclusive....

I don't recall them ever confirming the Archives being a Battlepass, I do recall it being brought up and cosmetics being talked about. I am SO glad they took this route.

I am just as glad as you are! Wait for the emotes, maybe we can get a chatwheel like from dota too? You know like when you down someone or they miss an attack on you, you can quickly blast their ears with https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CQeezCdF4mk
or maybe even have a spray saying "loser!" in big capital letters? Anyway you get the idea!
Screw bugfixing, map reworks and all that stuff nobody needs!

When they talked about it in the stream, they said that it wouldn't be a "pay to win" type thing. They made it sound like the cosmetics you could get with the premium side would just be reskins of whatever was on the regular side.
My issue with it is that this isn't really a game that needs that kind of content. Between Auric cell packs and DLC, they keep getting money from us on a pretty regular basis. I'm stoked for the concept of the Archive - I think the base idea of it is something the game can benefit from, but I don't think it needs to have a paid version. I would rather see it be a series of more difficult challenges for us to complete so that we have to work harder to get the reward rather than pay to get it.

@Endstille Why are you so negative about something that takes nothing away from you and that you can ignore? It's not like this was done in place of balance changes. If anything, it was done to extend the longevity of the game.
1 -
Well because I think it is very consumer unfriendly, it deludes people into thinking that they get their money back when all they get is virtual currency with no value outside of that game.
I find this business model fine in games that are free to play, given the fact that this game costs around 20€ with additional dlc which cost 113.82€ is troublesome to say the least.
4 -
@Endstille You have to keep in mine that this is a 3 year old game. It has continued to update through the years. That initial money ran out quite some time ago. If you want to continue playing multiplayer games years after their release, you're gonna have to come to terms with it becoming a service.

From a +2K player, non-sarcastically, i welcome this.

I made a post early today about this exact thing , but just to make a point . Buy any wow , and then the latest expansion , plus 15 a month how much have you spent , more then the sum total you gave . Now they host a lot mor players and its a different type of game , but they both have respective scale overhead and costs to pay every month .
They have to keep coming up with things to sell other wise they go broke and scuttle the sinking ship . they dont have a monthly subscription to fall back on if cosmetics dont sell like wow does .
Im not saying anyone is a bad person or player if they are not supporting the game by buying dlc's cosmetics or rift pass . But thanks to those people who do this game continues to run and become more then what it was . If no one bought things 20-30$ one time fee wouldn't pay for anything and support would cease.
Just another comparison , funpimps game 7 days to die , still in testing stage after years , one time fee , but no support outside of updates . servers are run by people who pay to host them and then charge or dont depending on their desire . Also updates are not very fast coming , sometimes a year or more for a major update .

Needs more CAPS!

From a 1300+ player, I welcome this as well. Free crap for a onetime $10 investment that lets me earn that cash back ingame for just playing it. DBD is my most played game as of the last three years so I'm glad that I now have a solid reason to play it as much as I do other than just leveling and prestiging. Once rank rewards come out, I'll be one happy camper.

BUT MONEY!
0 -
There are plenty of things the community has brought up on these very forums that can be done in place of a battlepass.
0 -
Ehh, technically, you don't earn back your money, you earn back the currency you bought with your money.
Which is still nice in a way: If you put in the effort, you'll have bought $20 pack for $10.
0 -
I'd have preferred the developers concentrate on fixing the game bugs/issues before chasing $.
It's clear for all to see that this is just yet another attempt of squeezing more money out of us. Of course, they will say that more money will give them more resources to fix the game. Fine, if that's the type of game you want to play then we will expect the game to run near-perfectly in return. Anything less and you will drive even more people away.
1 -
I'm really hoping they add Loot Boxes myself.
1 -
@Spork Not to put you or any of my DBD peers down, but I think when it comes to financial decisions. Behavior probably knows what's best.
I can't seem to understand why you hold such disdain for something as small as exclusive cosmetics.
2 -
Yeah, exactly. But what I'm further implying is that you can get hundreds of dollars of cosmetics over the years with just a $10 entrance fee, per se. That's why I'm excited.
0 -
.... are we really complaining about a company getting more money to keep the game we love alive?
2 -
Ah yeah, pretty much, didn't really think that far.
It'll require quite the dedication though, YOU UP FOR IT, MAGGOT?!
1 -
I keep that in mind, no worries but I disagree.
Also I am in no mood to give lecture in financial investments. I want to support the devs that is why I did buy all the dlc so far and have gifted those in the past to friends who wanted to have some or did miss one or two in their collection. I buy skins that I like.
But to me this leaves a sour taste in my mouth. I assume that when achives go live, they have an estimate as to when the majority of active players will be done with it. So those 1k AC will be invested into a new skin releasing shortly around that time so next month another 10 is going into it. Shards used to be a thing to get skins but less and less is made even available for those.
The updates and new content is paid if i am not mistaken? People buy DLC, it is not gifted by bhvr which I do not ask them to do.

This post is what happens when you wake up in the morning and realized you pooped yourself while sleeping
1 -
Imagine crying about free cosmetics.
1 -
If you paid attention to the patch notes there are lots of bug fixes.
1 -
I am personally very glad for the rifts and archives because it adds more stuff to do after playing the game for so long.
1 -
@Endstille So you're mad that you gave them the benefit of the doubt and are now looking to increase their profits?
I'd hate to say this but most people aren't "supporting" them the way you do. Have you seen the amount of comments that complain about X or Z not being on the shrine. People wait months to avoid paying for 5 dollar dlc. All I'm saying is if a battlepass is what it takes for the game to remain a constant, who cares? They're cosmetics.
1 -
Imagine spending over 100 bucks on a game and having a battle pass put in it...
4 -
@ProfessorDunwich Lmao, Imagine blaming your bad decisions on others.
1 -
Can't spend another $10? Sad story.
1 -
The saddest story is that these tactics have become popular in a lot of games today, and people like to enable it. There was nothing wrong with the cosmetic store that we have, and these new charms did not need to be the cause of another way to spend more money.
2 -
No. I understood the thread starter as exaggerated critique which I can understand. But I doubt that he is mad at least i am not mad about it. After all it is their decision. I just made a joke cause it made me giggle.
I supported them in the past and there was no doubt about it. But these achives seem like something fitting for f2p games and not games where you already pay for the content. So for me i have doubts about supporting that in the future cause I do not know how far they gonna dive into those f2p business stuff. I just really dislike these models because they tend to be tedious and I do not think that bhvr needs to do stuff like that.
1 -
Though, would you rather they run out of money and stop being able to give you the game you like? Most of it will be free or come in the store later. Calm down.
0 -
I'm sorry but I find it hard to believe that after having a cosmetic store that has outfits priced higher than any of their dlc, and releasing the game on multiple platforms still requires them to add a battlepass in a game that I would have never expected to see one in.
2 -
Still don't understand the issue. You are not forced to buy the Rift pass in any way. You can still use the store while ignoring the Rift pass.
1 -
I mean, can you see there finances or there sales? Do you have the info they do?
1 -
If you read my responses to most of these comments you can maybe start to understand. It's also very upsetting to see a lot of people supporting micro transactions, when they've been so controversial recently, and for good reason. Dead by daylight was the LAST game I expected to see a battlepass in, and I find it very aggravating. I understand the argument of them needing help financially to keep the game up and running but they're releasing the game on even more platforms, and as I said earlier, the full price for cosmetic outfits are higher than any of the dlc asking prices. The game is getting old and tired, and all I'm wanting is for it to feel new, not more ways to pay for stuff.
3 -
The point is when is enough enough? They have 2 lucrative sources of income with the new chapters and cosmetics. They are now implementing a 3rd inspired by free to play games.
4 -
More micro transactions. Support them if you want, but I for one will not.
2 -
Refreshing to see you say this <3.
0 -
It says specifically in the rift explanation that you can earn back the 1000 auric cells you used to buy the pass, through the rift.
0 -
@Spork This isn't Koei charging 3.99 for character portraits that were in the last game, this isn't Battlefront 2 having loot boxes for game altering perks, and it sure isn't 2k's casino fiasco. You're making an issue of something that has no bearing on you at all. They're cosmetics. If your will power is so weak that a simple device like a battlepass will have you enslaved, then you have bigger problem then DBD.
0 -
You will be missing out a lot without paying
0 -
These are still micro transactions, there isn't a way to defend it to make it any less disappointing to me. I own all the dlc's, I've bought a handful of cosmetics, I just don't appreciate them adding a new micro transaction to the game, it's becoming too common. It's not as drastic as other games but where will it stop? It doesn't need to be something developers should be getting comfortable with. I'm glad my opinion was strong enough to bring you here though, thanks for sharing.
1 -
From a 1100+ player, you couldn't have said it better.
1 -
You'll only be missing out on some premium cosmetics, of which have been made with the artists time and effort for which they have been paid for. It's only fair to add a price to them.
0 -
I never understand posts like these? If you don't like it then don't buy it? What's all the fuss about?
