Kill Switch update: We have temporarily Kill Switched the Forgotten Ruins Map due to an issue that causes players to become stuck in place. The Map will remain out of rotation until this is resolved.

Why I Like DBD When It Sucks

I always have had a natural proclivity towards playing puzzle games. I love puzzle games. To me, figuring out a puzzle in Portal 2, Tetrobot or Limbo is so much more satisfying than headshots across the map in FPS's or dropping planes on trains in GTA or whatever.

Then I realized why I like DBD so much despite why it sucks so bad. It DOES have puzzle elements in it that I like. Naturally, it does have much to do with your reflexes and attuning your senses, but having the nimbleness of mind of what route to run, or the pattern to seek which gen's, or the cunning of predicting the Killer or Survivors next move is actually what keeps me playing.

The strategy in thinking involved in my continued playing is, "Damn, I should have been smarter about this move ... ", and generally, I always lay the blame on myself. That's okay because it causes reflection, and I can move onto the next game with a new learning pattern while still trying to maintain its flexibility.

I really haven't heard why others like this crappy game so much. I'd like to hear it.
