Freddy is so boring to play against.
Is it just me? I thought he was okay to play against when his rework just came out.
But nowadays all i see are Freddy's that use gen slowdown builds with perks like DL, Thana, PGTW, Ruin, Thrilling Tremors, Discordance etc. with Swing Chains and Jump Rope on top of that.
And then there is the recent change that Borrowed Time doesn't work against him anymore if the unhooker is asleep. And even if the unhooked Person gets BT, if the killer decides to tunnel he will just go down anyway because of Oblivious. I find this change really stupid.
Also doesn't help that most Freddy players like to bloodlust you with snares. I can live with this tho.
I get that gen times need some fixing but i still think this is too much. No one wants to hold M1 for even longer. Or at the very least make BT work against him again.
Reminder that i don't think he is OP. Just unfun to go against, not Spirit level since you can loop him at least but still.
Unrelated but i have created this discussion before but it didn't appear for some reason. Hope it's okay to post it again.

I tend to agree. So sick of gen slow builds to be honest.
16 -
red paintbrush and swing chains I just give up against that

If your doing Forever Freddy I'm leaving the game. Not because it's "OP" it's cause it's a waste of my time. I'm dying either way. And perks or builds that relate to generators are so boring and old now. Get creative.
11 -
Sure, when Gens don't pop so damn fast when you don't constantly harass the Gens.
17 -
He's not fun because he uses stalling tactics that make the game tougher or more inconvenient for the survivors? I mean, every killer can and should do that. It's the game.
"Also doesn't help that most Freddy players like to bloodlust you with snares." That's... a chase? What did you want the killer to do with this power instead?
I don't get it.
17 -
Freddy is up there with the main 3 killers. You can expect to see him a lot more after the nurse changes.
2 -
Bloodlust is pretty silly at pallets. Some killers are still forced to break them but his power promotes to make use of this until you catch up at a Pallet/Jungle Gym etc.. It does waste a lot of his time though which is why i said earlier i can live with it. It's just annoying that's all.

Survivors gen rush
Killers bring slow gen builds
Survivors

Nope, Gens go pretty damn fast so I don't blame them for using thoughs tools.
Survivors have a lot of tools to help as well. All of those you talked about is exactly what a Freddy I went up against the other day had.
Guess what... He was rank 2, knew what he was doing but at the end only ended up with 1 kill.
I just happened to come in with a crazy gen rush build. Prove Thyself, Poised, Stake Out & Deadhard with a Green toolbox with BNP & a repair speed add-on. Also Shroud of Vigo to start every survivor together. Freddy got rekt.
8 -
survivors day “gen rushing,” is okay and I agree with them because that is their objective!
on that note, killers preventing gens from getting done is their objective so why isn’t that okay? By any means necessary

There needs to be a cap for survivors action speed debuff. I honestly think killers shouldn't be able to slow down action speed of survivor by more than 25%. That is when perks are stacking. If one perk alone has a greater value, like Coulrophobia, than that cap shouldn't be applied of course.
Personally haven't played against a Freddy that used thana, dying light and his two addons that slow down action speed, but I can see how that could be very boring. Especially when he also uses Hex: Ruin and another slowdown perk. The matches I had against Freddy were always enjoyable up until now though, I personally enjoy going against Freddy.
I just hope the devs realise that we need some action speed debuff cap before most of the maps are reworked, because then this will turn into a really big problem.
7 -
Really? No matter what perks he uses? Even if he has no other slowdown perks or just maybe one?
1 -
Why, why does their need to be a cap? A killer is giving up multiple perk slots and addons to achieve the slowdown at the expense of not having extra chase or location perks.
7 -
You're describing the snare's entire use case though. This is what it's supposed to do. Same with Bloodlust.
2 -
Well you got lucky and had a setup that sorta counters a Freddy with those perks.
I personally refuse to use toolboxes unless i find them in chests, because they aren't required at all usually. But i don't wanna have to bring one just to make matches like against these Freddy players somewhat bearable.
That actually sounds like a pretty good solution tbh.
0 -
if they have thantophobia dying light then yeah I just suicide on hook
0 -
It's hard to be creative when given less than 5 minutes to do so.
7 -
I mean I don't think he's boring to go against but that's cause alot of other killers are actually annoying.
0 -
It's funny, survivors complain that holding M1 is sooo boring but then when they play they refuse to heal or do totems or anything just so that they can do gens faster to go to another game and repeat the process. Maybe that's why killers use gen slowdown builds in the first place.
7 -
"If you're going to challenge me, I'm not playing!"
Come on, dude.
9 -
Boring is not the same thing as "difficult". I notice a lot of forum posters on here call anything they have trouble with "boring" when they are just having a hard time adapting to certain killers.
7 -
"YOU'RE WINNING! THAT'S BORING!"
7 -
It’s so funny because I completely agree but it feels like when most survivors see a Freddy they freak out and don’t know how to play against him. It’s so easy to counter him now but I always feel like the randoms I get placed with just go crazy and not realize it lolol

Gotta slow the game down just a lil bit.
5 -
just a lil bit
0 -
because every person who plays survivor gen rushes...
1 -
Boring is codeword for effective. Counter play is codeword for strong against loops.
Both are used interchangeably such as "I can't dominate and make a mockery of the killer therefore Im bored at the lack of counterplay."
10 -
Well gee maybe if gens didn't go flying without that slowdown, such things wouldn't inhabit this game.
6 -
extremely slow and fast games are both boring
3 -
Because I wtry and consider the fun of both killers and survivors. And I can totally understand that it's no fun having a 40% action speed debuff.
Also, if a killer is able to slow down the game too much, at some point they don't have to even try because survivors will take so long to repair gens that a killer can pretty much just force every pallet drop and destroy all pallets, and then have easy downs on survivor.
Repair speed should only be able to be slowed down by so much.
2 -
Well leeting your team lose because of that isn't that great. I can understand that it can be frustrating but you shouldn't ######### because of that.
It does take a bit until Dying Light and Thana actually have a lot of impact.
0 -
Well you see xbox randoms usually insta DC against Freddy
0 -
Well maybe people should ask the devs to finally realize that having a turd on the right yard doesn't make the turd on the left yard any better. Maybe it's finally time to stop using the "hurrlul keys are fine cuz mori" logic.
1 -
how do people think keys are fine cause of mori's both should be Nerfed heavily
0 -
I mean can you blame some Killers most of them are so used to getting gen rushed.
The users build could actually buys them time.
I don't think you're ever going to see builds like this dying out until there's not much of a reason to use them and with gen still being done at really fast rates that doesn't look like it's going to happen anytime soon

What is "forever Freddy"?
0 -
I was once a survivor main that now plays killer (carpal tunnel, can't do that struggle mechanic at all)
I absolutely promise I'm tired of running a slowdown focused build. Anything else though and you get oblitered by the Survivor side meta. My favorite perk in the game 100% is Dark Devotion. I'd build completely around it if I could. But in those games I'm lucky to get 3 hooks. Same can be said for survivor. It's pretty boring looking at the end screen and only seeing the same 6 perks over and over.
Because I played survivor exclusively for 2 years I know it sucks to camp and tunnel so I try really really hard to avoid it. The only time I find myself doing it is when running crazy builds that I think are fun for everyone, but just aren't practical.
I tend to think of my time as a killer like a DM in dnd. I'm here to be a unique and spookey challenge. If they get slaughtered I'll give the hatch. But if I get slaughtered you just get ggez killer in post game chat (which is why we only see 2-4 different killers ever ) :(
3 -
What else should they do? Selfcare? That's even more M1 holding. They take the way which contains the least M1 holding, and it's doing gens instead of selfcaring in a corner of the map.
1 -
If you're not complaining about any of those perks, you'll complain about noed, save the best for last, etc. I refuse to use perks that slow down the game but it doesn't matter, survivors will look for anything to explain their own ######### play
1 -
Oh really, so you hold M1 purely on gens so that you can go into another game to do the same. Sorry that I don't see the point of taking the way that constaints least M1 holding since your next game will be completely the same old holding M1 if you refuse to do anythyng else. Maybe if survivors in high ranks put slightly less focus on holding M1 on gens (at least when they face M1 killers) then those killers wouldn't run full genslowdown builds.
If survivors are bored of holding M1 (even when that what 70% of survivor gameplay is about) then go start a chase injured or learn how to do proper stealth or play meme builds. There are many things you can do insted of holding M1 on gens but unfortunately best way to make any killers game miserable (while also beiing winning strategy for survivors) is to make a game last 5 minutes by purely holding M1 on gens without a care for anything else.
Best solution would be to either create new objective or make current M1 actions somehow more appealing.
1 -
Gen slow builds are necessary in dbd, that's the sad truth.
6 -
I agree with that sentiment. I personally like using his 3 unique perks with his fourth usually being whatevs. His slowdowns and incentives for survivors to wake up usually provide adequate slowdowns without relying on something like ruin or thanatophobia
0 -
Also, Freddy is like Clown. Don't loop him, unless he's bad. You need to camp pallets and throw them a bit early. It's heavy pallet use, but wastes so much time you can genrush him easily.
0 -
It's also boring to have 3 gens go off as I down the other one!
Or it's really boring when the game takes less time then the lobby waiting for it did!
The Killer is using his tools to slow the game cause other wise why would he be playing in the first place?
People like this really confuse me. If you want the game to be exciting, quit yelling about all the things that make the game fun needing a nerf and all the things that don't benefit you is "Boring" or "No counterplay." Play the game, and have fun in the fog again! Might help to change your view of it!
0 -
So by your logic, a Killer should stop trying if gens pop too fast too?
The way the game is right now with gen rushing, your idea would kill most Killers off from being able to effect the game AT ALL.
3 -
well killers are sick of all gens being able to be done in under 5 min
5 -
SIDE NOTE: I hate running slowdown builds. I'd love to play random, off-meta perks.... BUT I CAN'T! it's stressful enough as Killer without shooting myself in the kneecap by not slowing the game!
2 -
Not if you have object of obssesion.
0 -
That's crazy. I wonder why. I can see his slowdown potential being op, but he himself seems well balanced.
0 -
What? Most killers don't achieve more than a 25% action speed debuff. It wouldn't kill any killer. I'm sure the devs will implement this in the game once the majority of maps are reworked.
