Read title. I want to know what are some survivor sided maps and why and ,if possible, any tips to deal with those maps when playing as killer.

Azarov's Resting Place can be disgustingly Survivor-sided in late-game if the Exit Gates are on opposite ends.

There's complaints about Exit Gates being too close, which I find a valid complaint.

But let's not pretend this map can do too much of the opposite.

They should let them be able to spawn in the narrow middle part.

Thompson's house, Mother's Dwelling, Rotten Fields, Blood Lodge, etc. The only killer sides maps are Lery's, the Game, and Hawkin's, at least imo.

Grim Pantry is very killer sided imho. Survivors can never find totems on it - ruin and DH and its an easy 4k =D

The Estate is also pretty good too. Very good totem spots and not much BL either. Plus survivors seem to always get stuck in the bamboo XD

Rancid Abattoir is a joke when it comes to balance. I just had a game where the pig tree spawned next to a long wall with a vault, two L walls and a few pallets right next to the shack with the god loop in the slaughterhouse. If it weren’t for my Ebony it would have been an easy 4 man escape.

I heard that Haddonfield is supremely survivor sided if you have Balanced Landing, however, what if you're not using it? Is it still survivor favored? If so, why?

Ormond has the best ways to escape a killer or hide, with excellent loops.

Coldwind in general seems to trip up killers who are less experienced.

Azarov's Resting is awful end-game for killer.

Statically, I believe the Thompson house had the best data for survivors winning (but this was before they put a hook upstairs).

That one map with the red barn.

All of the DLC maps are pretty bad for killer except for Father Campbell's Chapel (the most balanced map in the game imo).

Fractured Cowshed can be annoying if survivors abuse the barn, Iron Works of Misery's main structure is annoying if survivors abuse it, and Rancid Abattoir can be annoying if the slaghterhouse has good window spawn. Of coarse corn can always be annoying.

But for the most part the older, non-DLC maps have one very good structure and not much else whereas DLC maps have a lot of mini-abusable structures throughout the entire map no matter where you are, especially with Balanced Landing.

Haddonfield, all Corn maps and all red forest maps probably. Would find some more when i think about it.

Haddonfield is still most definitely survivor sided, even without Balance Landing. Even without it, you can spend minutes looping a killer on a single house, then move to the next. With Balanced Landing it isn't even funny how braindead Haddonfield is. Even taking into account gen spawns, the amount of straightaways with the fences and hedges, and totem spawns, yeah, Haddonfield is most definitely survivor sided.

I think it would be easier telling you the Killer sided maps, being The Game, Lery's (in most instances), and Underground Complex.

All being some of the smallest maps in the game.

  • Lambda
    Lambda Member Posts: 105

Now, I understand the Underground Complex being Killer sided due to the sheer amount of unsafe pallets, and although I don't quite understand Lery's being Killer sided, I assume it's probably due to the lack of experience I have playing on that map, but why is The Game killer sided? I've heard that practically every pallet on there is safe.

    Monlyth Member Posts: 982

Because the map is relatively small, there are lots of narrow corridors and no vantage points so it's difficult to tell where the killer is coming from, and there aren't a lot of good places to hide.

The smaller the map is, the closer the generators are, and that makes it easier to patrol and keep control of them all.

Basically every map is survivor-sided. Azarov and Léry's can be an exception when the spawn is bad, but that's it.

If you have questions about a specific map, let me know.

Haddonfield hands down, I’ve been in games where basically a t wall spawns with fences and both sides of the fences had vaults. Unless you’re nurse ( which after the update doesn’t even seem that good of a solution , because of how many rooms and windows you can use to break los , combined with the cooldown now).

    Go into Custom Match

    Configure the match options

    Select Map

    There's the list

If I'm playing as Survivor on the Mount. Ormond Resort, is the main lodge any good even if most of the pallets have been exhausted? Also, how many pallets usually spawn in the lodge?

  • BrendanLeeT
    BrendanLeeT Member Posts: 272

Oh a lot of people are forgetting about the Disturbed ward, man I hate that map with a passion if they abuse the main structure on that.

  • NoShinyPony
    NoShinyPony Member Posts: 4,570

Usually one pallet upstairs and one or two downstairs. The lodge is still good when the pallets are gone. Take a look at how the receptionist counters spawn and how you can combine them with windows. With BL, you have additional options.

Usually it's either a map with a very strong loop in the main building or just a very big one that's hard to patrol.

    Those that I consider survivor-sided

    Ironworks of Misery

Groaning Storehouse(if it has an open window in the main building)

    Blood Lodge

not sure if Wretched shop and Gas Haven are that survivor sided now but I still hate them

    Fractured Cowshed

Torment Creek(if the stronger window is open)

Disturbed ward, Haddonfield, Ormond, both Swamp and Red Forest maps.

    Hello

    • Haddonfield has pretty much the most broken infinite in the game: The Myers house. If a survivor is running ballanced landing and the Window next to the basement is open, it is almost impossible to catch a survivor unless he does a mistake. As a Killer, avoid this house if you can.
    • Red Forest is also very survivor sided. It is a super large map, the main building has strong windows and on the outscirt there are still many good loops aswell. Only Billy or Nurse due to their high mobility wont struggle here tbh
    • Yamaoka is such a great map for hiding and breaking LOS. It is not totally Survivor sided like Haddonfield, but it is still a tough map for many killers. Otherwise, i love playing trapper on this map, because of the tall grass.
    • If the Survivor knows what to do, Grim Pantry has also a pretty broken infinite at the Pantry. Avoid this by all cost, you will loose way to much time on that building.

Most maps in the game are Survivor-sided, honestly.

There are some that are roughly evenly balanced, but there arent any really purely "killer-sided" maps.

Even The Game, which is probably the map that most people consider to be killer-sided, has a lot of advantages for Survivors. That pig room drop-down, LOS blockers everywhere, and an absolutley insane amount of pallets, many of which are un-mindgameable.

    nerfeverything Member Posts: 52

It really depends on who the killer is. Lery's is a generally good killer map but can be harder for Plagues and Hillbillies. Azarov's is an awesome Ghostface and Pig map. Coldwind can hurt killers unless there's a huntress or hillbilly.

    All of them?

IDK, there isnt a single map in which I don't go in felling that it's going to be tough.

  • TheRealHansGruber
    TheRealHansGruber Member Posts: 204

The devs have realised the numbers, and the Game has the lowest survival rate, I believe only 50% of players escape when playing on the game

  • StarMoral
    StarMoral Member Posts: 938

Both Lery's and The Game are very small maps, already giving killers an advantage.

Lery's has a lot of LoS blockers that can confuse the survivor when they hear your TR

The Game does have many safe pallets, but it only has a handful of them. Plus the two floors can confuse the survivors into thinking you're on one floor when you're really on the other.

I don't know if I agree with all of these assessments, but no swamp map is survivor favored. Try finding a hatch or totems on those ridiculous maps. The swamp maps are definitely in the bottom 5 maps for this survivor main.

  • NoShinyPony
    NoShinyPony Member Posts: 4,570

The Game is a safe pallet paradise. A nightmare for every loopable M1 killer. If survivors play bad on this map, it's simply their own fault and not because the map favours killers. It absolutely does not.

  • TheRealHansGruber
    TheRealHansGruber Member Posts: 204

The devs disagree, and imma take their word on this seeing as how they have access to the actual stats.

  • NoShinyPony
    NoShinyPony Member Posts: 4,570

Of course a lot of survivors play bad and therefore you can have a good time as killer on this map. I'm talking about the map's potential. Good groups will destroy killers on this map.

I had a 3-min-chase on this map yesterday. My 3 teammates did one single gen in this time. It would have been enough time to do all 5 gens. In the end, everyone died. So while this is a super-survivor sided map, the match confirmed the devs' statistics.

    None. They are all killer-sided.

  • BenZ0

    Haddonfield:

Alot of save and not mindgameable loops, strong windows in houses and mostly gens that are hard to reach because they are in houses. That mean, you have to eat almost all pallets almost without any chance trying to mindgame them, forced to vault almost all save windows and almost impossible to protect gens because you have a waaay longer way to reach the gens, because you have to mostly run upstairs in the house to kick it.

Counterplay to this map: Nurse, Spirit or DC

    Coldwindfarm:

This map has alot of balanced loops and midgameable loops but most of these maps are very big and open, that means no objectiles to reduce the time to run to another side of the map and for some killers to hiding spots behind walls. On this map is it easy to hide in corn and survivors have a easy and fast way to run towards the other side of the map to save someone from a hook without wasting that much time compared to other maps. And you have a very easy time finding gens on those maps because of the wide open areas for the corn. And most of these maps has some really strong infinit windows (I call them infinit because they were back in the days infinits, not anymore but they are still INSANELY strong).

Counterplay to this map: Nurse, Spirit, Billy

Rest of the killers might can get some trouble, depends on the killers skill and the survivors too.

    Mac Millean estate:

Almost same issues as coldwind, balanced loops but insanely strong "infinit" windows, alot of open field places to see easy gens, almost no objectiles that hinderes survivors running though the half map fast.

Counterplay: Nurse, Spirit and Trapper (its a really dark map, a good trapper is strong on this map)

I dont need to go on, as you can see, alot of old maps are really survivor sided, that happened because the devs didnt had that good map designers compared to now.

I actually LOVE that map when playing killer. The narrowed spot acts as a bottle neck for survivor movement. Hook a survivor on one side of the map and see the other 3 on the opposite side...One of em HAS to come through that bottle neck for the save, which is pretty easy to spot. Also, because the pallet distribution typically only spawns 3 or 4 pallets at each end, if you choose to just favor one side, you can quickly get rid of survivor defenses and create huge dead zones.

The most survivor-sided maps in my opinion are:

    • Suffocation Pit, Iron Works, basically all the MacMillan Maps except for Shelter Woods (very killer-sided)
    • Azarov's Resting Place and Blood Lodge (all the other Autohaven maps are generally killer-sided)
    • Haddonfield
    • The two swamp maps
    • Ormond

Coldwind Farms are survivor-sided only if the killer is inexperienced and has corn blindness. Otherwise they are actually killer-sided, and some maps like Rotten Fields look like they are survivor-sided due to their size, but for a Billy it's actually killer-favored.

These are the more killer-sided ones:

    • The Game
    • Lery's
    • Hawkin's
    • Shelter Woods
    • All the Badhams except I (which is pretty fair)

Some of these are bad for certain killers. Billy for instance is terrible in Lery's and Nurse is not so good in Hawkin's.
