A few questions about licenses

Forgive my ignorance as I have no knowledge in the gaming industry especially when dealing with licenses but Dead By Daylight sure has ALOT of them which begs the question... Could this hurt BHVR in the long run by having so many licenses? They aren't cheap and I've seen a few games before that do a ton of licenses and it significantly harms the game as a result of it. My question is could the same happen to DBD?

Do you mean could it hurt BHVR financially? I don't see a reason why it should.

The license holder probably gets xx% of the sales (and perhaps a fixed amount at the start), so there wouldn't really be a risk for BHVR.

Or do you worry about other aspects?

It shouldn’t hurt them at all financially, but feedback wise, it could hurt the playerbase a bit if they consistently push out licenses. A lot of players seem to have issues with constant licensed chapter releases rather than originality, so it could hurt them in creativity, I guess? Besides all that, no, it shouldn’t hurt them at all.

It won't hurt BHVR in the short term. However, I do understand if many players dislike they way BHVR is going by bringing so many licensed killers. Players already paid around €30,- to play the game. It's kinda frustrating that you can't enjoy playing all the killers, since you have to pay for them. If you want to experience every character, you would have to par another €50,-. Personally, I would love more unlicensed killers. It would bring a new way to play the game (new power) and without paying for it

They wouldn't do it, if they can't do it. I think they ######### up pretty hard at the beginning, it's their first own game, but they are getting better and better. They care about the playerbase.
