How do you define winning/losing?

As both a killer and survivor how do you define winning? This is a competitive game without a clear 'Victory/Defeat' screen.

For both: Do perks/map/addons change your definition of winning/losing?

As Killer: is it killing all 4? Getting X hooks? Protecting X Generators? Pipping? Other? Does it changed based on the survivors loadout?

As a survivor: is it surviving the game? Saving friends? Completing Gens? Stealth? Chasing for X time? Piping? Does it changed based on the killer? Getting more points than other survivors? Other?

I let the entity decide. If I am playing killer and the entity says displeased, I have failed.

For survivor, if i don't escape, I have failed. Bp are nice and all but as solo survivor, I just wanna escape.

As killer? If I get nasty messages post match. Usually means I won. Or at the very least the salty survivor feels like they lost.

    As survivor? Depends.

Generally it's about points and how the game went. I don't care if I escape or get a 4k as long as I get some points out of it and had a bit of fun.

I tend to get around 18k for survivor and I consider that a decent game. If I die quick but had fun by memeing or just messing around then I also consider it a win in my book. I don't think escaping is really a win since you can still escape and not really do anything all game just by waiting for hatch. I've had games where the only person who escaped had the least amount of points by quite a bit.

Same with killer when it comes to points. If all four get away but I'm in the mid-high 20k then I'm happy. I do tend to try and get at least one kill and sometime I'll sweat because I'm human but I try to just be casual as killer since it's easy to get over-stressed. Just running around chasing people and having fun as killer is normally a win for me.

As survivor, an escape, although the many I can take with me, the better, just like in a game of soccer, if all 4 players escape, it is a 4-0, if only I escape, it's a 1-0, that's why I'm a gen jockey.

Also, survivors have only 2 post game titles, it is either "Escaped" or "Sacrificed", no confusion here, however, it's a different story on killer.

As killer, pip. Killers, however, have 4 post game titles:

Entity Displeased = depip - the title says it all, lose

    Brutal Killer = black pip - draw, you get nothing, you lose nothing, clearly a draw;

Ruthless Killer = pip - win

Merciless Killer = double pip - big win, almost perfect game

If the game rewards you something, you've clearly won, haven't you?

  • Killer: 4 hooks or 1 kill.

    Survivor: Anyone survives.

2k or more. Or if I had fun and felt like I had some impact on the game.

3k if someone gets hatch or I give the last person the hatch but usually a 4k as killer

As survivor if I escape or if I did a gen and 2 totems and died after a chase since it lets me pip

4k or escape as per the games tutorial. Stop making up wincons that aren't supported by what the game says unless you have something against balance and strategy.
