Why do we get actual numbers on some perks and such, while only getting "considerably" on others?
Title...
I just find it weird that so much information is hidden by words like "tremendously", which varies in value from 1 thing to the next, while perks like spinechill tell you exact value. Why cant you just tell me that Swing chains slows survivors by 3% per survivor asleep? Adding "tremendously" is completely pointless when 12% slowdown on swingchains is considered "tremendously" while 12% charge boost on spark plug is considered "Slightly".

This is a huge pet peeve of mine when playing games and DBD happens to be one of the few games i can bear playing that annoys the living dog ######### out of me.
Either tell me ALL of the information!
Or Dont tell me!
Dont pick and choose when its important and when its not. It confusing at times and ive learned to ignore it but reading your post made it all resurface. Lol

Wouldnt be so bad if it was at least consistent, but they just throw random wording in at any number.
- Applies a slight penalty to Sabotage, Healing and Repair Action Speeds to awake and asleep Survivors.
- For each Survivor in the Dream World, this effect increases (up to a tremendous penalty).
This is the descriptiong for swing chains. Telling me it goes up to "Tremendously" isnt information, expectially when the wording means nothing at all. If Tremendously meant the same value on all addons...sure, but it doesnt.

Exactly. But its never consistent. Every killer has X number of addons which all use the same descriptive wording... But even within just one Killers own add-ons. Its never consistent.
Basically any time i try a different killer i have to use the add on numerous times before I get any actual clue as to what the difference is.

Some of these values just makes ppls nicknames for builds funny imo. Apparently if you stack adons on a chainsaw so its -36% of the normal charge speed, leaving you with 64%...Thats "instasaw"

It's because no one is at the wheel when it comes to anything involving UX improvements.

I have to watch Entity Education to get any kinda numbers at all.
Side note: Cold Dirt right? Legion add-on. TREMENDOUSLY reduces the stun at the end of your FF. Yeah... it's 0.6 seconds. Really "Tremendous"...

I think the devs should use slightly more time to give the players considerably more information about the numbers. This would increase the happiness of many players tremendously, im pretty sure.
9 -
Pretty sure this would only work moderately.
6 -
That made me laugh TREMENDOUSLY more than it should have.

Kind of off topic, is it 3% to start and then an additional 3% for each sleeping survivor so max 15? Or does it not kick in until at least one is sleeping? Because the wording implies even with all awake there is a slight penalty.

It should a max 12% because 3:6:9:12

To make figuring out what everything does TREMENDOUSLY more annoying

I do like the idea of using words instead of numbers for lore reasons , but it is not player friendly at all ,we should be able to unlock numbers beside the desription (ex Moderately increases fov(15%)) .they could be unlocked by a cost of either Bloodpoints or Iridescent shard. I'd rather unlock the ability to see numbers rather than look on the wiki

Yeah, all the Slightly/Moderately/Considerably/Tremendously stuff needs to go. Ive hated that garbage since beta, and still hate it now.
Hard numbers only please, this is just annoying and pointless.

It's because, depending on some perks and items, the definition of S/M/C/T could be different. for example, on one perk slightly could be 2%, on another it could be 3%

To Considerably confuse us.

I wish it was hard numbers. But half the time their hard numbers don't make sense.

Thats only reason NOT to use SMCT and instead tell us the actual values

@LordGlint I agree with you, it’s annoying and let’s take the flashlight adding as an example. The purple lens literally does nothing but like half a second of extra blinding.

Today on things that I get annoyed by but haven't said anything about because I felt like it was just me being an entitled gamer. 😂😂😂😂
Good to know I'm not so alone.

This amused me modererately

I am slightly entertained.

Yes It's so obnoxious, why obfuscate critical information?

Nice

Even though it was only SLIGHTLY funny?

Last time i heard them talk about why they use "-ly" terms instead of numbers is to not scare off newer players with tons of information.
Not a direct quote btw, but that's pretty much why.

It surprised me CONSIDERABLY.

So why tell me the exact numbers on some stuff and not others? For swing chains, the only reason why i found out it wasnt nearly as strong as I first thought it because my spinechill went off while 2 ppl on my team were asleep while working on a gen. If spinechill is allowed to give me numbers... I find it dumb swing chains cant.

Idk, you'd have to ask them, i prefer numbers all around as well. 🤭

I really hat that bhvr hides the number behind these mysterious words. They need to give us numbers already. It has to stop. We are gonna hit 2020, why is the consumer friendly stuff still not here in dbd?

I feel like NOT having numbers makes it harder on new players who want the information but have to go to external sites for numbers.
The other reason I heard is because they wanted it to be different than other games... different for the sake of being different isn’t always good.
2 -
I kinda like the real numbers being hidden.
It's a relic of the mysterious, confusing, and spooky 2016 DbD, where information felt really limited and nobody really knew how anything worked.
If I'm being honest though, it doesn't really have a place in the current game; with how some things do give exact numbers, it feels really out of place to obfuscate certain add-ons, even if I do personally like the flavor of it.
