Battle pass question
A thought came into my mind and as on ps4 can not see for myself..
Anyway will they have challenges for killers or perks you may not own after Legion I have not purchased the killers after so will I be stuck because I can not do these challenges will it be a type of pay wall?
I would love some information regarding this please and thank you

And I don't think there are challenges which require you to play paid characters.

So if you don't have the perk, and get it from the Shrine, then you need to spend X amount of bloodpoints and hope RNG is on your side to get the perk on a character? I feel this is bad design.

It isn't 100% RNG. It picks random perks within a certain set of rules. More procedural than RNG. Although we are able to force certain perks to show up if need be, as we did when an error caused a few perks to be unobtainable from the shrine in the past. We don't do this unless it's absolutely necessary (to my knowledge, that has been the only time we've ever used that so far).

So can those unobtainable perks be able to obtain again in the shrine if available?
I saw Aftercare got removed because of that error and never appears again.

Sorry I know your a busy person thank you for commenting its appreciated could you possibly confirm that the battle pass will not be in anyway locked to those that do not own certain characters.
It's nice to know we can get the perks on the shrine but I really would like to know that we will not forced to buy killers we do not wish to just to progress in the challenges.

It's not so much that perks were forced to appear, it's more like two perks were rerolled. There was an issue with Aftercare and Wake Up! that caused them to be unobtainable, so we had two new perks randomly selected and swapped them out. We try not to influence it as much as possible.
This first one focuses mostly on Claudette and the Trapper, so they'll be available to everyone. However, future Tome may feature challenges that require other characters (or their perks). It's something we're keeping in mind and discussing, I can't really give you a solid answer just yet. If we stick to just free characters, the types of challenges you can have are way more limited. If you open it up to other characters, you can have much more diverse challenges, but then you risk leaving people out.

Choosing not to participate is not the same as being left out. I mean the people with the characters are the people financially supporting the game. You can certainly do the free characters first and always default to the oldest to ensure people have time to collect the new but I wouldn't completely avoid purchased DLC to spare those who refuse to buy any DLC from participating.

What if people don't have the funds to buy DLC? One solution could be to make the challenges be able to be completed with splinters, but that would require a>making them more common for a few days and b>making new ones for dlc characters that don't have splinters

So what? Do we not create new killers because those who can't afford them are on an uneven footing against people who can? This is even less severe than that as its cosmetic and lore rewards.

I never said "don't create new killers". I'm saying that the free pass challenges should exclude dlc that you pay for with real money. The ones with iridescent shards are ok cause they're accessible to anyone. I just don't think it's very fair to make the Rift's free challemges impossible for people who can't afford dlc

This is a good point, people on the free path shouldn’t be forced to buy extra characters. And this is coming from someone who owns all the content but I’m thinking of others

Yeah. I get the game needs money, but if someone can't afford a battle pass, I'm thinking they may not be able to afford the dlc too. If they make the challenges completeable with splinters then I'd be morw ok with it

Any word on the fact that new perks aren't being given the higher shard/bloodpoint value on the shrine any more?
It was never announced as a change and has just been a huge decrease in the value of the shrine.

Then you are saying those who wish to play the pass free should not have access to the lore of killers or survivors they have bought in the past.
Stagnating development for this mythical poor person who has access to a computed that can run DbD and high speed internet yet can't afford $6-10 every 3 months is ludicrous.
If they aren't going to cover everything in the DbD universe they need not cover any of it. There is also the issue that the free and premium path follow each other so I'm not seeing how one can have the option while the other doesn't.

What about people who just play on a console on cheap internet? Those 6-10 dollars can stack up, that could even be a college student's lunch money. Just saying, we should be slightly more considerate of others

I don't care about a college students issues. They are spending many thousands of dollars per year on their education, I don't want to hear their laments about spending coffee money equivalents 4 times a year.
Considerate of others? This absolutely rare minority is expecting a game to work around their first world problems and inconvenience 99.7% of everyone else, and the rest are inconsiderate?

I understand. Next time bring up the kid in a sub saharan village who cranks a windmill to supply power for their internet and gaming as it might garner more sympathy than the perpetually victimized college student.
If one can afford college but wont give up their Starbucks coffee shot once every 3 months then do without. The game shouldn't stagnate development based on them.

Why? Although blunt, he made a good point. It’s 10.00 every quarter so basically 3.33 a month and as long as you do part of the tome you’ll get some cells back so it’s more like 2 bucks a month. Show me the person who can’t afford $2 a month and then I’ll go through their monthly budget/spending and find at least one place to get that $2 from.

Like I said, show me this person and I’ll find a place for them to afford 2.00 although someone in that situation had a lot more to worry about then whether they get cosmetics for a game I think

My guess would be you guys want to do the original survivors (Claudette, Dwight, Meg, & Jake) and the original killers (Trapper, Wraith, Hillbilly) before moving into the DLCs right?
And other would be paired with their respective chapters such David & Huntress or Feng & Doctor. Just seems logical.

Im jus saying..that there are people that make enough to pay bills..they dont NEED to cosmetics but Im sure that everyone would like them..Its not about a NEED its more of a "I've supported this game for x amount of time it'd be nice)..Ive bought every DLC so yeah I've given them money..I just feel like its kinda a cash grab even tho they don't make you any better its not a P2W and I'm not saying it is..But there are ways to make it so that everyone has a chance to get everything (besides cells) and still make money from it..Im surre there are plenty of people that will buy the tier progression things to level up faster..which costs cells ..which is actual money..Im just sayin...thats all..I Dont need them.. would it be nice if everyone could get it..yup..but Im not gonna stop playing because I can't..

You should open this to every original character, there are means to grind these characters/perks in-game and Ubisoft has done the same with Rainbow 6 which is a bigger game than this. So it'll work.
