Why can’t we open the hatch when knocked?
Like you have a key, I don’t understand what the difference is with being knocked etc. killer gives u hatch ur crawling and can escape sooooo why can’t you do the same with the key??

Can you elaborate what you're saying... what do you mean by... "Knocked" do you mean downed? You just can't open it while you're downed, I don't honestly know why either. (If that's what you meant.)

You cant use any item when in the dying state. It's just how it's always been and I personally think it's fine as it is.

Knocked and downed are the same thing. You’re on the floor for both terms

Because you can't repair, heal or open gates when downed.

I mean, you can't do anything when you're downed, so why would you be given the choice to open a hatch when you're downed? I think its to avoid people just magically being downed next to a closed hatch and opening it.
It's basically to prevent the Killers time being massively wasted doing all these things to prevent the last Survivor from escaping... than they just go to the closed hatch with a Dull/Skeleton Key and escape. How boring would that be.

Knocked could just be any time you are struck. It doesn't imply being in the dying state because injuring and downing can both be described as knocking someone

I think it's because, its an item that you have to press the use item action but you cant use items when knocked otherwise youd be able to heal yourself also

its because this is an item and survivors are not able to use items while in dying state.
thats a general rule applying to all items there are, which includes keys.

I guess it's because technically you're "dying" while downed hence the term "dying state". The only reason you can even crawl while downed is balance [slugging full teams would be far too easy if nobody was able to crawl away and recover in a corner] and gameplay quality (I think).

That would be like Killers doing a Mori while stunned or blinded...

That would just be yet another reason why the hatch is overpowered.
