Well I got the ban appealed as they said it was unjustified after looking over my other harassers. Thank god because if I was banned for being insulted for a year by 100+ people then being banned, I would slap someone silly.4

Or, be very precise with your salt. I bing bonged a survivor for his whole hook timer and messaged him after asking if he enjoyed my song. Completely non bannable. Then if they abuse you after, sob to the console overlords and ban them for their disproportional response of literary abuse.6

i share very coarse language when i feel someone's gameplay has earned such commentary. i also spend a lot of money on ps4. mere coincidence? i think not.0

Just be careful what you write or say to people when you message them regardless of what they say to you because if you don't report them their message goes unnoticed but if they report you it could result in a comms ban or worse.
You cannot get banned from reports, such as "unsporting" or "quit early" etc no matter how many you accumulate, these only effect your reputation such as "needs work" or "avoid me".
Text or voice messages that contain death threats, telling people to kill themself, or calling them racist names with lots of swear words, these kind of messages are what will get you banned if the person on the recieving end reports the message.I've had a few choice messages sent to me from playing DBD which I didn't retaliate to, I just silently reported the messages and moved on.
A couple of weeks later you get the message from Xbox Live saying that they took action on one or more of your complaints and thanking you for making Xbox Live a safer place etc, that means the result of the reports you made was a comms ban or worse.0 -
I remember someone getting banned on Friday the 13th because several (underage--which F13 team pointed out as the reasoning here) girls were harassing him. He talked ######### back, they said they would talk to their dev friend and get him banned, and subsequently did. The girls never faced any repercussions and just went on to trash talk more people with their dev-protection. That game is cursed. lol
Never believe a punishment/justice system is fair or balanced.

interesting. i do remember xbox seemed to have a handle on such things. ps4...there is no report option. i did have a ps4 mod come into a..... conversation i was having. they messaged me first and were a bit over the top. i tend to enjoy a ready-made spaz and was beginning to be quite amused when one of the messages my new screwball friend sent was deleted by this overlord. nothing more took place and it felt...humbling. a fun interlude and for a moment...i felt safer.0 -

I have had my XBL account for 13 years, and I can tell you that if you get reported they do investigate it. This is why I don't send hate mail to other players anymore. I get tons of it, I just report and block them and move on. If you engage with them they can report you for communication and if you said anything mean Xbox will see it and ban you. I've had many friends get banned for doing this sort of dumb thing.
You can goto enforcement.xbox.com and sign in to see reports against you and your status. I currently have about 25 reports against me, most for "cheating" which I don't do just salty players, some people report my name because they think Xbox will force me to change it (they won't I've had the name for 13 years and I've been told that it is not bannable), and then a few for comms because someone said something salty to me and I just say something like "blocked" or "whatever, gg". Only peiople I send vulgar stuff to are my friends because they won't report me (not hate mail but I will say swear words).
Point is don't give people a reason to report you, and you won't be punished. I report people that send me that stuff all the time and Xbox sends me messages "A player you have reported has had action taken against them". Just block/report and move on.

In all honesty Xbox Live rep means nothing. It can be brute forced incredibly easily by just spamming reports that are unmonitored. In my first week of playing Freddy on his release last year, just playing, not trolling or sending hatemail. I got a 'Avoid me' rep, which had never happened in the 10+ years I'd been playing online. It banned me form playing several games online for multiple months.

It's important to disguise your insults. Bots pick up on the bad language. They won't detect words like trash, bad killer, git gud as insults. It picks up no no words like the n word the f word and any mention of Donny T.0

His profile was open to confirm it, as it was his only VAC ban. It was a customer service disaster as far as I see it, and just further hamstrung that game.

You really don't know sometimes. But if i reported someone on ps4 usually you get automatic messages from SIE moderation saying action was taken if they violated any rules.

That's on Xbox Live and not us. Xbox Live has a system in which your account gets restricted and eventually locked down if enough people report you - that goes for any online game they have. Whatever happens there is out of our power. not_Queen talked about this in a stream and she explained they tried to opt-out, but Microsoft won't let them.
