Was Anyone Else a Little Disappointed By The Stream?
It might have been just me, but from what I saw the dev stream didn't address the concerns held by what seemed to be the majority of vocal players around time taken to complete the Rift at all. I was really hoping that they were going to make some changes based on our feedback, and use this stream to give us more information.
I know there's still time, we just have to wait and see what happens when the patch actually comes out. But I'm rather worried now - which is a shame, because I was so excited about The Archives before. Now I'm too concerned that they won't live up to all the hype that the devs tried to build around them.

Rift seems unneeded in a "Paid" game.
It gets a no from me, unless it is all accessible to all players for free.
(Aka REMOVE "Rift" put it all in Archives or even put some in Daily Rituals)

I was disappointed as well. I was expecting them to go over some feedback or tell us about up coming changes. That's what happens when I hype myself up. :/

It looked like one of those infomercials that are set up to look like a talk show.
I'm hesitant about buying the rift. Mainly because I don't really care about the charms. And the cosmetics on the pass don't interest me. I don't see them reducing the time to finish the rift, but we'll see.

Even Paulie Esther (who I love but let's be honest is a bit of a suck up to BHVR who I also love btw) has admitted the challenges are too hard/luck based and the time is a bit much.

Yeah, that's kind of what it felt like. We already knew everything they told us.
I'm glad it wasn't just me. I definitely expected them to talk about some of the stuff that we brought up, answer some of our questions, etc. rather than just go over everything they told us last week.

Wasn't the paid pass supposed to be able to be paid with both auric cells and shards? Unless i'm crazy I swear that was a thing the first time they revealed it

To me it's not an issue of "correct things based on our input," because that comes off a bit entitled (I don't mean this as a personal attack or insult; I just think a lot of forum users expect an outsized level of influence on the development of the game).
It's more that I'm disappointed at the lack of transparency and clarification about concerns that have been raised. I want them to elaborate more on why they feel this or that is a positive direction or why they made the choices that they did. Like, what led to this system being implemented this way? Why are they confident that players shouldn't be too concerned about the things they have expressed concerns about?

Precisely. I wouldn't expect them to implement all our suggestions with no questions asked, because maybe they discussed them and decided that it wasn't a good idea after all. But it would be nice to know why they made the decisions they did - in particular, as you said, why they decided that the player concerns were unfounded in the event that they choose not to change anything after all.

No, that was never something that was said by the devs. When The Archives and Rift were first announced, there was a phrase like "play to unlock" next to both the free and premium tiers, which confused many people and led them to believe that the premium tier would be unlockable using iridescent shards. However, all that was actually meant by that phrase was that players using that pass could unlock new tiers through playtime, not the pass itself.

Not surprised. Pretty clear what direction this game is going in. They've been silent here about the battle pass, no reason to expect the stream would be any different.

If your question isn't answered, the answer is usually the one they think you don't want to hear. The point of this pass is the increase and maximize monetization, any other motives are secondary or irrelevant. It is likely not meant to be completed through gameplay for anyone except people who play this game for a job. They want you to pay for the battle pass and pay to unlock the tiers. Every tier that is accessible is one less $1 for them.

Literally NO ONE. Not one person has a problem with the content. It's absurdity of challenges like "get 2 flashlight saves in a single trial" or "hook all 4 survivors in the basement in a single trial" and how incredibly slowly it takes to gain passive fragments.

Yeah I’m not upset about any of that, Bc again it’s free. You can pick and choose what you want to do. You can buy it or not and just do the free option. I don’t see a downside to earning free stuff through play time. Two flashlight saves aren’t hard with the right build. 4 basement hooks aren’t hard with an insidious killer. It might take a few matches but that’s why it’s a MASTER CHALLENGE

I'm very grateful. I hate all of these strawman arguments against people who have legitimate numerical MATHEMATICAL issues with the challenges and grind.
I'm so sick of being strawmanned and seeing others strawmanned for very visible issues concerning the Rift progression rate.
Maybe you guys are so new to DbD that you don't remember when the devs had weekly streams addressing concerns in the community. But us veteran players do.

Also, I been playing since 2016-17. Quit then came back for Legion. I am very very much not a new face in DBD. My post was more of a "Why do they bother when everyone is always screaming at them?"
I haven't seen the challenges myself, I admit, but I'd be happy to look at them and give my feedback then.

🙄 most video games that have challenges or story bits to unlock have harder skill level challenges to earn that challenge reward. Sometimes you have to play a style you don’t like to complete the challenge or reacher higher. So your ARGUMENT IS NOTHING BUT A LAZY ATTEMPT TO BLOW SMOKE.

No one is screaming at them, though. At least, I'm not, and I haven't seen anyone else in the thread doing so. We've looked at The Archives in the PTB, we've expressed our feedback, now all we're doing is expressing a concern that that feedback isn't being addressed. I think that many of the concerns raised were very legitimate, so I just think it would be nice to hear from the devs on what they're changing, or not, and why. That's what I was hoping this stream was going to be.

Except, as @Theoretical_Heart said, no one is asking for anything to be handed to them. The majority aren't concerned with the difficulty of the challenges, but simply with the discrepancy between what the devs said they were aiming for with The Rift and what we experienced in the PTB.

I would agree, if it weren't for the fact that the devs specifically said that it's supposed to be completable in 70-80 hours. They gain nothing by lying, so the logical conclusion is that they just got their calculations wrong. I would have hoped that, having realised that, they would be making some changes and keeping us informed on what they're up to. This stream seems like it would have been an ideal time to do that.

Seriously take the 2016 to early 2018 streams and do that again.

I don't care about being told something I might not like, I just want them to be transparent and straightforward. Not answering a question because you're nervous about the answer is a pretty sure sign that you're doing something stupid. That's just, like, a life tip in general.
I do not think it is some shocking or evil thing that they are trying to sustain profits in this game. It's a business, this is a product, and that is how the world turns. I recognize that they have the premium track as a monetization element. That's OK; they don't need to be shy about it. I just want them to directly address some of the more consistent concerns and share their perspective. It frustrates me more when they don't do that.
And, as a result, the stream frankly came off as a sort of vacuous infomercial filled with what I interpreted as fake enthusiasm.

I lmao when I read your post, since MK11 faced such a huge backlash for having MTs in their game and the towers of time being too difficult of a grind. A backlash so huge that they chose to change the system.
You seem to not understand the concerns the community has about the archives at all.
No I am not dissappointed it was what I expected. They kinda tend to not address any critical questions from the streams that I have seen even in Q&A they pick questions that do not really concern the people that much. There is sometimes a subject that people talk about alot and they will spend time on something that rather seems irrelevant to most.
Also I do not believe in mistakes when it comes to monetization and creating a system such as this. @SpaceCoconut did a good job when looking at the numbers, I sincerely doubt that the people that chose those numbers were not aware of the consequences.
