Can the DBD team really investigate Lag Switchers
I am wondering, whenever I encounter some killer and that I'm pretty sure he is lag switching; for example when there's like 3-seconds lag spikes timed right before smashing people to dying state - and it's never laggy just before nor just after - so whenever I'm pretty sure about it... I report it... does the team has the tools and time necessary to investigate the players? Do you take those players' "accusations" seriously enough to investigate most of the time? How much players reports does it take to actually be verified?
Thanks

What you describe seems just to be a lag spike.
A lag switcher is something completely different.
Lag switcher: you try to unhook. No progress and after 30 seconds of holding m1, you encounter yourself on the shoulder of the killer.0 -

I mean... when you can't do actions for 3 maybe even 4-5 seconds, and it's only whenever the killer actually hits someone... I know I cannot know for sure, thats why I ask what happens then

It's a real thing sad to say, and not always a lag issue in general.
I was playing around the other day running from a Wraith doing a Nea quest...went to vault...and..the animation played like 4 times...then suddenly I am 10 yards away and the Wraith is picking me up.
Strange because the entire game I had no lag..except when I was about to evade him.
Went to spectate mode...and wouldn't you know it...everytime someone was about to slip away from him..they'd lag out..and suddenly get downed.

This is why the only lobbies I dodge are red ping when I play killer. I am not subjecting everyone trying to play the game to a lag fest. I have always wondered how much fun do they really have knowing they need to do sketchy stuff to win.

That's why we need dedicated servers.

@DraconDirnc I dodge every single yellow and red lobbies

My question was not does lag switching exist and/or occur. My question is, can the team handle investigation, and do they investigate..

You answered your question by yourself.
As you said, 3 second laggSPIKES are not laggswitching.because of countless reports like that, the devs cant actually filter the laggswitchers out.
Laggswitching is when the killer completely removes the connection which makes him able to teleprot around ingame and down survivors while they cant move.
A laggspike is something completely different and cant be avoided in a multiplayer game

@Master you are right, friend. I already encountered massive teleport+completely unable to move then all 4 players down, but I probably 99% of the time only get lag spikes. Thanks. I will stop reporting hope others will.

After talkign to them, most of the survivors admit that they are using wireless connections and/or are sharing the same connection with other users.
Personally I have encountered 2 laggswitchers in that time

Same here. The most recent accusation was from a Romanian twitch streamer who ported like a nurse (only one) and reported me for lag switching. No one else had lag.
Streamers are almost the funniest. I mean you are literally live streaming in full HD or sth, I am not surprised that their connection cant handle that together with a laggsensitive game

sure. as soon as survivors who joined my lobby with a 500 ping stop calling me a lagswitcher, or i get called a lagswitcher if i have a slight lag/FPS drop (e.g. on the map The Game, idk why, but i mostly get FPS drops there...) when its obvious that this lag affected me too and screwed over my hunt as well as their chase.
Some ppl just call anyone a lagswitcher who has a slight lag in his lobby.0 -

From what I understand, the game has log files which record the P2P interactions during every trial. Lag switching should be visible in those so the devs should be able to use that to investigate on lag switchers. We've talked with Patricia_BHVR on that issue on Discord.

No need to be hostile. I'm simply stating what was discussed on the Discord with a dev. If you think you know better, you're welcome to join the Discord and chime in.

I didn't say a dev said that, it was one of many suggestion in a discussion with a dev of the most likely source of any such information.
