About the Dedicated Servers
I'm making this post in the hopes to stem the tide of posts complaining abouth the servers.
WHY ARE THEY ONLINE?, To collect data so the devs can fix kinks.
WHY NOT THE PTB?, The PTB is too small to collect serious data and stress the servers.
Please be patient. The Devs are working on stuff.

People can't put 2 + 2 together to understand that there is no other way to do this.

Its a balancing act, the servers are meant to upgrade the experience, but how long/much of the player experience are they will to ruin in order to make sure that they can improve the player experience.
I feel like its in part to see if the outrage can die down. If the game/profit can withstand the player rage for a couple weeks will people just move on and accept? Just a thought though.

It's having the opposite effect on me. I was fine with them before, but now all the little "quirks" are starting to add up and become aggravating.

We ASKED for the dedicated servers. Stop putting it on the Devs. The game was BUILT for P2P not dedicated. OF COURSE there will be kinks to iron out making such a big change. Just be patient.
It's crazy how many ppl are mad about something the players harassed the devs for.

Not every player asked for them.
And the only reason we probably got them to me is because the Nintendo switch version them has to have it to be playable on that platform.
Not cause the devs wanted to satisfy the players needs

Not how I remember it. I remember thousands of angry posts from salty players whining because they lost a match because of P2P and how the devs are just cheapskates who refuse to pay for servers to give the players good games. Please don't try to rewrite history.

I didnt ask for them at all. My experience in generally has been massively downgraded consistantly by the servers. I just want them to be disabled so I can go back to not rubber banding in a first person perspective and having my grabs autocancel. I didn't want them, didn't need them, and I still have to put up with them. It starts to add up every game for a few weeks. That's just a frustrating experience in general. And it doesn't end until the servers do. Just my two cents.

Im not saying im against the dedi server per say (i understand how useful they can theoretically be) im just wondering where the tipping point is. If there was a timeline that explains how things are going to be made better or a deadline where they are going to fix it or remove it then thats one thing. If they are just going to flip a switch and ask us to bear with it while they fumble around thats another.
"Just be patient." is the problem. I would rather hear "This is the current steps we are taking."

Conveniently it seems no one asked for them apparently. Guess my memory is bad. I guess I dreamed about all those complaints begging for dedicated servers.

I'm not saying people didn't do all those things and didn't ask for them. I just don't personally believe the complaints is what made the devs actually decide to do it.
It was them wanting the game on the switch for more money and sorts. And realizing that dedicated servers were gonna be needed to do so.
The game could've easily kept going without servers. It's survived three years without them

How can they know when they'll be fixed without data to work from? Lol.
And if they gave an estimate a significant number of players would leave until the estimated date. Which would give false data. And when the date came the servers may not be able to handle the stress because they got inaccurate data because of a lower player count.
Just, have some patience my dude.

My issue is leaving the test running this long without, seemingly, any improvements being made is starting to get aggravating.
I've been fine with each test so far because they've been just long enough to not quite be irritating and each test has been better than the last. This one has just been going on too long without any apparent changes.

Thats the problem isnt it? Like i said in my original post in order to better the experience they need to inadvertently make it temporarily worse. Im wondering where the tipping point is. Is there a point in time where subjecting everyone to dedi servers just isnt worth it anymore?
I would be more forgiving if they just talked to us more, i dislike being kept in the dark about something that impacts game play this much. Some dates or updates on what they are doing would be appreciated.

i am fine with them testing a little bit on live but
a 2 week long test is
TO
DANG
LONG
turn them off already, I am sure they got plenty of data on how to improve the servers

Have you guys considered they are running them this long while they can to get as much info as they can since they probably arent going to run them during the rift?

yeah, same, but I know they need to do the testing...

Can I have a private conversation, it's important. Please.

I guess it would be nicer if they actually involved people in the process though.
I mean if they want to use liver servers to test something. I would expect somewhat of a memo on what to test, cuz otherwise it turns into a rising issue after issue which isn't fun.

If they want the player base to participate in testing servers then they need to release patches for the issues the player base brings up. It's been 11 days and nothing has changed. Same rubber band problems. Same stutter when kicking a gen/pallet.

Besides the first release of it on PTB (where they withdrew it for a day) they usually took a length of PTB, turned it off, fiddled, then back on. I'd assume the same for this if they (hopefully) turn off / improve for the mid-chapter.

Testing dedicated servers is fine.
I used to have to grapple with a decision over which game I will spend time and money in...
Dedicated servers narrowed down the choices for me.I
Thank you, dedicated servers, for not asking me to waste money and time playing dead by daylight at this time!
