A impassioned plea to the team...
Hello,
I will make a thread for this plea. I hope it does not fall on deaf ears.
With the original dates, I had but two days for the event, being this Weds/Thurs and had booked time out from work! I will be out of country and unable to game until November 4. Please don't shift it so that I miss out the whole thing...
Please...
Oh well...

As dissapointed I am as everyone else is I rather then delay to fixup the patch rather then releasing a buggy one.

Yup, I was SOOO ready to start the archives and the event.

and its obviously because some problem came up. Which really makes me wonder how a problem comes up this late that delays the entire thing?

Well, here's hoping it's delayed till the following Tuesday at least, with a bit of an extension..?
Just selfishly want to be able to have a bit of time on it! :/

It's not uncommon to do final testing on everything included in a patch.
I figure they happened upon stuff while going through the list of additions and changes.

I love that people are giving them points for not releasing it broken.
Why again did they inexorably link the event to an untested massive change? God forbid the first event in 9 months not be linked to the battlepass system to PREVENT THIS EXACT THING. Where's that "but different teams!" Broken record at lol

I'd rather them fix it then break everything with a bad patch.

Can't be the case. Behaviour is known for releasing patches with litterally gamebreaking bugs, that could have been avoided with just a tiny bit of internal testing before release.

Then maybe they do that only with big stuff.

Literally any regression testing would catch this ######### lol

It's not actually the patch that was delayed, as far as I can tell. They said that the event had been delayed, and would now be released alongside the patch. That makes it sound like the patch was due to be released later than the 22nd, after the start of the event, and the event has now been pushed back so it will be released alongside the patch.
So the only thing that's been delayed due to unforseen circumstances is the "burn pustula petals to spawn special generators/hooks for bonus bloodpoints" thing. That's all there was to the event, as distinct from the Archives. The event and the skins/vials (which are part of the patch) aren't actually connected except thematically.
[EDIT: "That's all there was to the event, as distinct from the Archives".]

Um, you realize enough people complained about milking the plants that the serum is on the rift thing now right? So that directly ties the patch and the event together...

Id rather them push out a good finished product than have to spend the event time with a buggy mess.

As I said, I believe what's being said is that they are linked thematically, not mechanically. So the event, with the petals and such, was a separate release from the Archives, skins, serum, etc. However, looking back at the event announcement, the distinction as to which Halloween features are specifically tied to the 11-day event and which are tied to the patch is extremely murky, particularly in light of this recent tweet. I said what I said because it was the only thing that seemed to make sense, but now it's hard to know what to think.
