Is everything ok with bhvr?
The event got postponed... and now the shrine got posted wrong. I'm starting to get worried.

I don't see how the rudeness is necessary. Everyone here is working hard to get it ready as soon as possible. This is one of the biggest updates in a long time combined with an engine update. Some things went wrong and we wouldn't feel comfortable putting the update out in the state it's in. I'm sorry if this is disappointing to you, but shoving the update out the door right now isn't a better option.
As far as the event goes, everything will still be happening according to plan, just slightly after it was originally planned. You won't lose any days, the end date will be shifted back to match.

You should always be worried when it comes to BHVR, if something isnt disappointing/broken/delayed/not working/ then something seriosuly bad is about to happen.
13 -
"Some things went wrong and we wouldn't feel comfortable putting the update out in the state it's in."
This is kind of funny considering they have brought updates in horrible horribles states before. They can't mess up any further with this one.
13 -
Bhvr is doing a job far better than a lot of other major companies out there, you just being salty for no reason at all
14 -
I don't think people are "rude" due to postponing but rather due to complete lack of information from their part.
They haven't been so distant from community ever, it's a week after release of No Man's Sky, darkness everywhere.
5 -
Careful, now.
1 -
I see why you have "banned" in your name. Wicked? Is that you? Are you ban dodging?
I saw alot of people being rude over the delay and that post I pot DIRECTLY tells you what happened.
3 -
My post wasn't meant to be rude or salty to make that clear. I am really serious. I hope there isn't some background issue going on. I think thats why they are so silent.
I love the game and I liked the devs from the beginning but something strange is going on. They are distancing more and more :( Also I miss the interactive Dev Streams with Q&As.
2 -
Eh they’re an indie dev at the end of the day, they mess up but at least they’re passionate about their game.
Theres lots of bigger studios doing a lot worse.
2 -
It doesn't. It is just "Something went wrong" but stretched into a longer sentence.
Lack of communication is the issue here.
1 -
I am feeling disappointed a little bit as i was expecting to be playing the event/archives stuff. I am in no way angry with them but i do understand the frustration of people who scheduled time off work and such to go hard for the event.
6 -
Now that I can understand. Wanting to talk more to them cause it.. .feels like a friend has gone distant. Right?
Also @PureHostility it says that something went wrong in the patch and engine update, which lead to them having to push it back. That is exactly what happened without getting into the exhaustive details of everything. Heck, they could have something they don't want spoiled.
2 -
Yes, could also be bc of the big licences and the growth of the company... I miss the old days, where the streams where at a regular base and they listened and talked more to us.
6 -
see, I get this more. I'd like to talk to them more too, even if it would just be about Legion till they got sick of me XD
2 -
Lmao, what isn't wrong at the moment. Matchmaking is busted yet again.
2 -
"Some things went wrong". What else is new? LOL
2 -
Ugh... Someone is salty for no reason and taking it out on the Devs. What else is new?
1 -
Meh i disagree
6 -
Oh pointing out possible bans while you yourself are in baby jail
0 -
Yep, and I can not tell you why I was jailed, just that I do disagree with it. There is no such thing as "Jail Dodging" but there is such a thing as Ban dodging. I see your attempt to insult me, and laugh at it. Good Day.

Who knows, they are never transparent when it comes too things like this, so it could be literally anything from someone leaving too a major bug being discovered.
The event being post-pond is a clear example of why you keep events away from MAJOR game changing updates, incase something goes wrong you won't bring everything down with it.
The shrine being posted wrong tells me that they either A: have a new intern who screwed up, or B: The Shrine is not completely RNG based and BHVR sent the wrong week's perks out. Either way, someone should of checked it before it was uploaded too avoid this problem.

Seems you never played league of legends, apex, or any ea games.
0 -
League is trash and i play apex and depends what ea game

The post i put earlier from Peanits said that it was a major bug in the new engine update that was breaking everything. You can see it if you scroll up.
0 -
I never said it wasn't. What I said is that Events should not be tied too such major changes too the game. Because now there is no event AND no mid chapter patch, where as if it was separate people would still have the event too tied them over until the Battle Pass is ready.
1 -
You said they were never transparent. That was transparent. Ta-da
0 -
Actually, because of how the event is tied with The Archives... this isn't possible. You can't get the vials from The Archives if for example The Archives isn't in the game yet...
I guess you could add the event to give the spoooky effect to the game before The Archives is released to have people do something? But that's not really an event if... the main purpose of said event isn't there.

There may be a lot of people being rude, but the OP of this thread was not one of them. Posting that comment everywhere that even mentions the delay because there are some people who are being rude about it is at best unfair and unproductive, and at worst derailing the thread for no reason.
Also, @ABannedCat isn't dodging anything. They have been around here for quite a while, and the "banned" part in their name has nothing to do with these forums.
Just generally, please stop assuming the worst of everyone. It's not as helpful as you think it is.
2 -
That's my point exactly, it never should of been tied too the Archives in the first place. Changing an entire portion of the game is guaranteed too have bugs, and tying the event too it is simply a bad idea IMO.
3 -
Nope. I did say they aren't transparent, but I never said it wasn't a bug. You are ignoring my point on the fact the event never should of been tied too the archives because of something like this.
2 -
And even though they did say it, why didn't they say it from the beginning, instead of waiting for someone too ask? Guarantee they wouldn't of said anything if people didn't ask, which isn't transparent IMO.
2 -
How else would they entice players to try out their Battle Pass?
3 -
Tbh, its better to have it tied to the archives than how it was last year...
I can still remember all those suicide by hooks because their vials were completely finished... And of course most people were on Killer so getting the Killer vials was a nightmare! It got so bad that they just decided to change it half way into the event to have both sides pool their vials into one goal rather than separate it...
I literally was like, 5 vials from being done on Killer... than the same day they release that update to have both sides get vials for one goal... I was really... really... really... not happy about that. Of course though I realized later that it was better they did that than not do it at all. I prefer that others don't have to suffer with how long lobbys took to load.
Trust me, it's better this way. It's not as big of a deal as everyone is making it, it was just an unforeseen issue that caused it to happen... I'd prefer they did postpone the event to fix the issue than put the update out as a broken mess... wouldn't you?
1 -
What do you mean with the shrine?
0 -
Every week, they post on their social media what the shrine perks for that week are. This week, their post didn't match the perks that are actually in the game. Combined with the delays in the event and uncharacteristic lack of recent communication, it is starting to seem as though the devs are having a particularly tough time keeping on top of everything at the moment.
0 -
The problem is that people speculate when theres a lack of communication, a lot of people didnt even realise what the statement read ,given that it implied that the Archives updates and the chapter were seperate things, and the mid-chapter wasnt due out on the 22nd (Which ofc it was) That and it wasnt clear if it would be out when its fixed,. or pushed back an entire week to keep with the tuesday release schedule, tbh theres not been anything I have seen that would suggest it wont come out as soon as it ready, if thats today, tomorrow, etc. But its still not clear if they are going to release the update asap, or set a date of the 29th say, and thats whats got people confused.
Having said that, if somethinjg needs fixing, it needs fixing, (although given some of the patches we have had, this must have been in some state to delay it, might be the nurse movment bugs we had in ptb, idk)

Oh, i'm not really assuming the worst of anyone.
Let me explain, as context is really hard to take from text. I put that in here, just to make sure no one was being rude. Tht was it. It was the clearest answer I had seen from a dev and figured it would help everyone to know that had not seen it.
The mention of "ABannedCat" was about 90% a joke as I didn't even know Wicked that much and wouldn't expect for them to say anything back even if it was.
I promise I am not assuming the worst of anyone, and try to keep a positive outlook about everyone here, till they give me a reason not too. Does it make more sense now?

You really are all about yelling about that arn't you? If you don't like it, don't buy it.
Im not so much as ignoring your point as attempting to make my own. But its whatever man. Trust me, the event is much better this way then last year, even with the delay.... in my opinion.

Right I’m pretty sure @ABannedCat was around before peanits even became a community manager. Long time forum dweller. Do you you remember that guy Lowbei? He was the only one that I ever found funny that ended up behind forum bars, he was a great troll, miss that guy.
0 -
That makes sense, I think it just didn't come across very positive to begin with. If people are just discussing their concerns, though, it's probably not necessary to preemptively make sure no one is being rude. It tends to make people feel like you're accusing them of something.
Glad to hear you're trying to keep things positive, though. We need more of that around here.
1 -
Not quite that long, surely. BannedCat has only been here about 7-8 months I think.
I was not a fan of Lowbei. He was funny, but mostly in a so-over-the-top-toxic-he-has-to-be-trolling kind of way. I'm cautious of derailing this thread, though, so I'll say no more.
1 -
Oh yeah, I don't want anyone to think that i'm accusing them and I am sorry if I made anyone feel that way. I guess i've just got used to people starting a riot instead of just giving concerns or active, constructive feedback. I try to keep all of my interactions with people as positive as I can, unless they just flat out refuse to listen to me, that tends to get me rather annoyed... even more so i'd they are just saying that just cause I play Killer I am against Survivor buffs or things like that... anyway, I'm getting of topic.
Yeah, I am sorry if it felt like I was being judgmental or accusatory.
1 -
Oh okay, idk why it felt like longer. Agreed fellow Fogerian.
0 -
No worries, no need to be so apologetic :) It's good to be able to talk about these things. I commend you for not getting super defensive about it, I wasn't exactly gentle in my reply.
1 -
There were problems, but last year's event was much better then the basic and boring "do special gens, use special hook" motto like every other event, because this simply will make people just gen rush even worse and make playing killer a nightmare. A better solution would be keep the event how it is, and ban people who constantly kill themselves on hook after their vial is filled, I'm sure there is an easy way too track the vials and who's dying when, so simply punish those who are ruining the game for everyone else and keep the Old Event. The event really shouldn't of been downgraded, but instead ironed out from the mistakes last year too make it better.
And having it tied too the Battle Pass is an issue because now both the battle pass and event are now delayed, instead of just the battle pass. The Halloween event won't even happen in October now. If it was kept separate it would at least keep everyone happy until the battle pass comes out. There really is no reason too have them connected other then too force people too be invested in using the Archives.

When this similar thing happened in marvel heroes online (omega or whatever you want to call it) the game shut down in <a year
Not saying it is happening here but I wish they would get their crap together and figure out their servers so I could play.
The game should be a AAA title...they just need to treat it like one.
0 -
Yes, the special gen and hook thing is boring... but the way the game works is why it's the best method to use for events. Adding a second objective that does nothing for the main objective just makes the game slower... and overall even more boring since nobody is doing anything except sucking pustula plants for vials of nectar...
Even if you know where the plants are, you gotta protect them and the gens and most Survivors are running stealth builds to get all the nectar they can.
Also, idk anyone who likes last years halloween event because of the constant suicides that happened... Even at Red Ranks people were only interested in the plants and moving on to get more vials.
The Killer side for vials are horrid... that's kind of why they merged the two half way through the event, since most people were on Killer, and Survivors just died when they got their plants so you might not have even finished a vial before everyone died.
Also, if there was a system to track suicides on hooks or a better DC system than they would've done it already... That's kinda why Dedicated Servers are being refined, they'll implement a better system to prevent this from happening more often.
(The suicide by hook part is kind of unpreventable honestly unless they start punishing for that which they probably won't? idk.)
0 -
I disagree, I find the special gen and hook thing dumb, and not a real event since nothing is different from the base game. At least with the Lunar lamps and the plants there was something extra to do, and it gave the game some much needed length difference from the constant gen grind.
adding a second objective in the plants is perfect because it does slow the game down, and thus makes high ranks less sweaty and more casual. No one likes running ruin or 4 slow down perks every game, but with extra objectives killers have some breathing room for other perks.
there is a system already too track DC's and suicides, the devs simply can't tell how the person dc'd, which is why no one is punished for it, but it is being tracked. So they can absolutely punish survivors who are clearly just farming vials then suicideing on hook.
Killer vial grinding was bad, but to be fair that was the first time BHVR did an event that was an actual event, and it's unreasonable too think they would simply keep it the same and not tweak the numbers too be better.
