Is Hex: No One Escapes Death A Problematic Perk And Shouldn't/Should It Be Changed?

With the buff to noed a while back where exposed is on all tiers, it seems more killers are using it as a result, from most survivors (and some killers) perspective's they believe it should be nerfed due to no way to counter it aside from doing "useless" dull totems as some would say, while others think it can easily be removed with cleansing totems as they actively support in you surviving the trial.

I'm curious if some people on the forums would like having a civil discussion about it (my stance on it is mostly neutral, I'll get annoyed by it but otherwise I'm fine with it) and a question to the devs if they have decided noed deserves a look at for a possible nerf/rework or they believe in is current state it is fair and balanced.

It really annoys me when playing survivor, however with the changes coming to detective hunch, it will help that.

Annoying perk. But can be stopped by cleansing. So...meh, annoying but fine.

Pretty much this. Even though I hate NOED, it can be prevented, you dont have to contend with it

I honestly think that both NoED and adrenaline should be removed because they can win a match easily, like this time i almost lost but i could one shot survivors and then i won, but that's because i'm was and still is rank 14, so the survivors didn't go around cleansening totems to prevent NoED.

    But there are more options.

personally i don't exactly see much wrong with noed on both sides. if it really needed a change due to being problematic, it'd be better to adjust killer speed once the perk activated while keeping its exposure status. noed is meant to be a last-ditch effort to win a game, and even then, can be completely countered by actively working towards getting rid of all 5 dull totems, which isn't too much of a task if you know your tiles!

i think it's a matter of people being upset that they have a possibility of losing their chance to escape due to the last ditch perk, which is understandable, but you have to realize that this game is all about doing what you can to get to the objective, and each is entitled to their own!

Noed is a very cheap perk tbh, same with adrenaline. Theres nothing wrong with using them but they are very much crutch perks that help players survive/get kills when they struggle in other areas. In the same way noed can be destroyed by breaking all totems, adrenaline can be useless if youre already at full health in the endgame. Both take up a slot that can be used for something and are high risk high reward perks.

Personally the only change id like to give noed is a notification sound or exposed cue as soon as the totem activates rather than when someone is hit with it, but thats a bias as a survivor. I dont use adrenaline bcs im usually full health by endgame but im sure there's nerfs it could get.

Tl:dr: i think noed is a cheap perk for killers who have trouble putting pressure on the survivors but its not op

NOED is a counter for doing gens too fast. It also has a counter of being made a useless perk slot by doing 5 totems.

This perk creates a second objective within the game which is totems.

NOED was originally a perk which was always active once the gates were powered which was insane for camping at that point but we lived with it.

It was then changed to 2 mins use after the gates were powered but it still meant camping guaranteed a kill so a change was always on the cards.

Next it became a hex perk so it brought in the counter play we needed and recently the QOL change of it having the Insta down on everyone at all tiers.

I think NOED is in a place where it sets out the second objective quite well and makes just doing gens a risky choice. You should really do every totem you walk by if you fear NOED activating. I've lost count how many times I have found another survivor doing a gen with a totem in plain sight of it. The funny thing is you can almost guarantee that person will be the one to complain about the killer using NOED in the end game chat.

honestly the speed boost should be removed from it then I wouldn't care about it as survivor

I think the speed boost is to make the Killer a threat to Survivors with any sort of speed boosting perk. Without the Killer speed increase, a ton of Perks would render NoED completely useless because Survivors would just roadrunner away while saying 'Meep! Meep!'

    No, you are wrong.

It won't be touched because it's not broken.

I find it funny that Killers have to down Survivors a minimum of twice per survivor (if no one saves the Survivor from first hook) or more on average; 6 times per survivor, which is 24 hits, in what is currently a 5 minute match. Survivors also have 8 second chance perks on top of those downs, and that's not counting speed-increasing perks like Dead Hard, Sprint Burst, Lithe, Hope..

And yet, with enough perks well into the double-digits giving Survivors second chances & free escapes on top of a 2-to-down, 3-to-kill gameplay mechanic, you will go 'bad players use NoED!'

Glass houses, dude. Survivors have way more crutch perks than Killers. WAY more.

theres nothing balanced about noed when it's on a killer with map pressure. if they're at all competent u wont have much free time to dick around on totems, especially on inside maps or maps like swamp.

and a majority of survivors perks u may consider crutches are easily avoidable, but this isnt the post for that.
