Hate mail.

Just started killer a bit ago and I need to ask if constant hate mail is just going to be apart of my future post game.

I started playing Hag. Took a few matches to get the hang of her and before I even got 3 perks I'm mopping up the floor in every game.

So I figured, hey you know what? I'll not run any hexes. To make it fair as I rank up, because clearly I'm a god to anyone below rank 10 at lvl 10????!!!!

Five matches go by. Two people escaped. I spent all my time away from hook as possible.

Still get called "the reason people quit the game"

So you know what? Instead of only using 5 traps? I limited myself to two traps. That's it. Rank 17 and climbing. Lvl 15.

"Bro your a dick"

"All you did was camp" Really? My score begs to differ!

And so on.

So my build went from "overpowered" uncommon perks, to no hexes, to purposefully gimping myself, and I'm still the worst human being possible?

Literally, is there anything I can do? Or should I even care?

These people have full purple perks.... are probably permanent rank 16's....

And I'm the problem because they put over 500 hours into a game to be mediocre at best?

Like do these people even play killer?

I don't even have good perks, am basically playing without a special ability, etc....

Honestly I'm about to just go full hexes and deerstalker bodies before they even hit the hook just so I can rank up faster and play against fun teams.

How do these people think I'm an issue when I go up against BBQ, purple ruin, etc with my friends and we do fine?

In very low rank most survivors are really bad, especially against killers who use tools and traps such as hag and trapper.

They don't understand that your ability is to teleport back to a trap activated. If that so happens to be at a hook so be it. They just see it as "camping", when in reality it's their fault for not clearing the trap ahead of time, or looking out for it.

Hell, they can even use a flashlight on it to destroy it.

Ya I get it. It's just weird.

Like if your whole team dives onto a hook and gets downed, these people honestly expect me to not camp that.

Like I'm sorry, most boring matches of my life and I can't drag it out by letting you fail so hard so long.

Honestly, you need to learn how to play well in Hag to make 4k. If this is your first killer, then it’s better to start with those who are simpler. I myself Hag main, so I’ll say that she’s not the easiest killer for a beginner.

You know, such salty people are everywhere. I play on the console and sometimes I get salty messages too. Not to mention the fact that they teabagging in the game. Just like that. Because they’re bored, I’m guessing.

Know what I advise you? Do not pay attention to such people. Try to improve your game and don’t worry if you meet such salty people.

Hag is one of the more frustrating killers to vs for new players. If they don't understand the basic trap mechanics ie. crouching and flashlights, basic things like unhooking feel unfair.

Why not set your profile or messages to private, disable the chat itself (if you're on Steam) and just play without caring?

every game has a lot of haters... don't think dbd stands alone in this.

The reason why dbd appears so toxic is because we have an AFTER chat. Literally ppl get a chance to spit their hate after a frustation. In other games there is usually no after chat ... try to imagine how hateful ppl would react when they got eleminated in the last 5 of a battle royal game. trust me dbd is not alone in this it just has an outlet for this hatred

  • Get used to it.

Salt and whiny tears will now be your sustenance.

You shouldn't go easy on them, play as you want to play whether they like it or not because you know what? Some people will always complain and hate on you whether they escape or die, so just make sure YOU have fun.

There is a arrow on the end game chat box. Click it, it closes the chat. Until you restart your game, you won't have to see what anyone says again.

    Yep, It's the norm sadly.

If you get a private message you can report them on whatever platform your using or make your profile Private.

As for Game chat, You can report and hope it works but You're better off closing it. There's just too many Toxic, Hateful and Racist people playing the game.

I blocked messages outside of friends a long time ago. Some of them will send friend request with hate mail attached to them which always make me laugh. Are you really that made with the way I played? jeez

Take them in strides my friend!

I myself am building a wall of these messages on my steam profile. I view it as an achievement of sorts. Similar to getting banned from China.

They will never learn, I enjoy a good read and laugh from time to time. Laughter is healthy for you after all, so every time they tell me kms, well I think my age range raises :)

It doesn't matter how you play, you will get constantly hate mail.

Either you can laugh about it or you deactivate the after-game chat.

Truth. You can't tell a killer GG, you have to cuss them out. It's a tough love thang!!

    not only low ranks...

ive once been told i was a "lagswitcher" for playing spirit, as she would "lag around all the time" (passive phasing / in general yamaokas haunting). that was in red ranks.

i told them to take a closer look at my power and left the chat xD

Easy solution - turn off the lobby chat so that you don't get any messages after the match.

People tend to be crybabies in games like these where it’s a semi-competitive environment. I’d compare the playerbase in this game to Rainbow Six, where people are the same way.

Just tell them to calm down and give them a GG. Don’t bother going back and forth with them, because you’ll just end up in a pointless shouting match.

I never met more toxic people in a game than this one, so far. I would get hate messages when I was playing killer and survivor. I was not camping and only got 2 kills? Noob killer. I killed everyone? Tryhard. I was on the other side of the map and you thought I took too long to come rescue you? I was a bad teammate. I come to save you when the killer was face camping you and he had NOED? I should have been a better player.

People will always complain about something, so I decided to switch the privacy settings and now only friends can message me. Best decision. No more toxic messages, except one or two friend requests with toxic messages from desperate people.
