The second iteration of 2v8 is now LIVE - find out more information here: https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/kb/articles/480-2v8-developer-update

Great Job Devs, but...

Why couldn't you tell us...

1. What was so bad that it took almost a week to fix

2. Why you wouldn't do a mini bloodhunt to make us all happy

3. Why your excuse was "we didn't give a date so it's not a delay"

4. Why you couldnt give us details on at least a few steps in the way to getting one of the biggest most hyped mid chapter updates of all time.

5. Why you new exactly how far along the fixes were and even knew you sent it in for cert and didn't let us know.

Some people took time off work for this update and the only thing you guys had to say was "we didn't set a date" I hate hearing that, such a lame ass excuse man, honestly that is what has me triggered.

    1) What business tells their customers details and specifics on the errors that are causing delays on their product?

    2) why would we have a mini-bloodhunt when we are still having the event? If it was cancelled I could see people getting upset and asking for something....

    3) I kind of agree

    4) again, businesses don't disclose this much info to their customers

    5) it's none of our business. See #1 and 4

    • If you took off of work for this event... RIP. Everyone has different priorities in how they use their time off. but given this is a huge update, and given track records with bugs and delays some critical thinking should have been used to determine if taking off without knowing 100% it was a go is a wise thing to do.

Use the pustula petal offerings this week. It’s basically built in double bp (sometimes better). Besides, blood hunts really aren’t all they’re cracked up to be. I don’t understand why people are so thirsty for them all the time. Unless running into ebony mories and skeleton keys for whole event and the next two weeks is fun for you.

    1. There is a post from a couple of days after the delay detailing issues of why it happened.

    2. Why do you feel we should be have been compensated for something which is a free event? It doesn't stop anyone playing the game they bought.

    3. There was no release date after the delay they simply said when it is ready we will let you know. If you see something leaked never expect it to be real until officially announced.

    4. Because as you have seen people have a tendency to jump all over simple update posts and turn it into something it never was. It's better to wait till you know instead of we are almost there as things can change constantly.

    5. Because cert isn't guaranteed. If the cert failed or took longer than expected this community would again jump on the devs for it not being released.

Exact information is not something we should feel entitled too and we should never demand it. The patch was pnot ready for release at the time and that's all anyone needs to know. Too much info just makes some speculate and try to turn it into something it never was.

The event is here today. Be thankful you have an event at all as we are never entitled to any of them.

Agreed, however i think a bulletpoint list of questions as to why it was delayed as if the Developers owe us every detail to what they work on is a little overkill. We got the update, they said what they felt was worth saying and we should take that & enjoy the update coming instead of demanding superfluous information

I feel bad about people who planned days off, but why? Not to be rude but why? Seriously taking a day off work so you can do the special event on its first day, if it was a one day only event I would understand.

They actually did give us an update on what was holding things up.... they had issues with the backend and the new engine update... which is serious from what I've read..

While I feel bad for those who skipped work, it’s not the end of the world. All it really is, is BP bonus and some cosmetics that you’ve got fourteen total days to complete.

You’re allowed to be upset, but I personally don’t see the issue with it myself.

If things aren't going according to how things are planned, then yes, they should be giving the consumers all the information they can.

We gave them our money. We paid them, and continue to pay them through microtransactions. The least they can do is be as informative as they can.

I'll be thankful if BHVR gives us some info. But it seems like this whole ordeal could have been less chaotic if they just said things from the get go.

But I'm not gonna be grateful that BHVR did their jobs, that they did what was expected of them. I'll be grateful if they are honest and communicative. It doesn't matter if BVHR thinks it's necessary, they aren't the ones waiting on it, they're the ones who is trying to get it out to us.

I'm not diminishing the work the devs are putting into this to get it out to us. But I'm not gonna clap and be grateful that they did their jobs and got their product out. I'll be grateful if they offer us the most information possible.

i have been super critical of the devs lately, but I will defend them here in this sense. Not all companies can or want to give out full details on their problems. I’m not saying anything is super secret hush hush, but you don’t need to give out all details of your company for any possible competitor to read.

I am mostly just worried the update will be a broken pile of spaghetti despite the delay, since it includes an engine update as well.

Even if a date wasn't officially announced, the Hallowed Withering Blight event taking place after Halloween feels weird. Yes, it's not technically a Halloween event... but if you're just going to play the semantics game instead of acknowledging reality, then you're not really interested in a discussion, are you?

So yes, it is disappointing that the timeline is being shifted, but it's not the end of the world. Have some perspective.

BHVR has done a phenomenal job at delivering steadily improving free content. Real content! Maps, characters, new mechanics, killers, etc. Heck, the whole Archives/Tome/Rift thing is amazing. Sure it functions as a battle pass, but it's also so much more!

[side note: I wonder how fast it'll be before the community turns wearing charms into code for certain things. Like the Claudette charm could mean that you're running Self-Care or something.]

Content can be profited from. Game health still suffers.

I doubt coming updates will change that. Wheres killer reworks? Where's the address for SWF and the unreal amount of efficiency that a Killer needs to keep up?

To me, game health is far more important than content updates. And while they have reworked Freddy into a really fun and acceptable spot, there's plenty of other issues plaguing the game.

Pardon my doubts. I hope BHVR will prove me wrong.

The only thing that kind of pisses me off is number 3.

Devs: "The Withered Blight event is super integrated into the Rift. They go hand in hand. The Rift will be in the mid chapter patch. The Blight event starts on this day."

Also Devs: "We never gave a date for the mid chapter patch, so it isn't a delay."

So you are trying to tell me that you planned on starting the event without the most integral part of it?

Just call it what is and explain you are fixing bugs from the get go.

Did you ever hear about real life or at least other games? DbD is not the only thing in this universe.

Enough with the cries for double BP every single time something goes wrong or gets delayed. If you're taking time off work to play a video game that's your own fault. Unless you're working 100+ hours a week you'll find time to play. And if not, the devs can't cater to everyone's personal schedule.

  • Rezblaze
    Rezblaze Member Posts: 843

Developers should cater to the people who give them money to deliver products.

If they don't, they should find some way to compensate. Why should the consumer give the developers a pass for disastrous communication, then clap and cheer for them when they do their job?

Not saying the devs have to cater to every popular request. But acting like nothing went wrong is a rather insulting way to go about it

The devs mentioned there was some game breaking bugs in with the unity update (which archives includes). They did explain this to everyone in a developer update. They also had a massive power outage. I don't know if they're linked, but I think it's safe to assume that both contributed to the delay.

Now the event will ship of in less than an hour (based off my calculations of time zones) and you will have less to complain about.

Who the hell would take a day off of work just for a video game holiday event?
