Let's talk about the Archive Challenges difficulty. Particularly the Level 4 archive challenges.

For the most part Im excluding the rift fragment rewards and any talk about the battle pass in this thread since I have no idea how easy/difficult it is to complete with/without the rewards.

The way I see it is simple, since the Archives are not time limited, the last challenges are meant to be hard achievements completed over couple of weeks. Which in itself is fine, but there are a few problems with this idea:

  • First and foremost, these challenges are not made to be achieveable without a SWF (as survivor) or 4 megs (as killer) in your match, they would be, but they aren't. That's because of the "complete this challenge in a single trial" thing. Not only does this make these particular challenges almost impossible, but it just makes for an unfun gameplay experience on both sides, I think they should get rid of them entirely and just up the numbers for some of the challenges.
  • My second point is that you should be able to work on more than a single challenge at a time. Again, it's just not fun for all the challenges, but with these particular ones it makes them impossible. If you want them to be difficult, long time achievements then we shouldn't be forced to literally halt all other Archives progress, some of these challenges, like all the EGC ones are not meant to be hunted for, an opportunity to complete them will occur once every 20 maybe even 30 games, which again. Isn't wrong, but I can't imagine "sniping" this challenge for 30 games, only to get frustrated, take it off and get the correct circumstances the next match. That has the potential to be so ######### unfun I can't imagine it staying as is.
  • My final point are the rewards. If the fragment rewards are no longer there once the rift closes, 60k bp is not nearly enough for a challenge of this caliber. Give us some iridescent shards as a reward, it's a great currency that could make for an "exclusive reward" but it's never used as such

I don't necessarily hate the idea behind these challenges being difficult, but as I wrote above, I really don't think they can stay in their current form, this would ruin the game way more than people think it would. Well, let me in on your thoughts, hopefully we can get a discussion going. And hopefully we can get the devs to address our concerns.

the devs are being scummy and dont want people to get the bonus rift frags from the tomes. A battlepass is already pretty scummy, but at least they are nice enough to let us do the free pass, get to max rank THEN buy the pass. But this is just insane. literally no one should buy the battle pass.

The battlepass should just give a few extra skins but give no auric cells. Then make the tome challenges more reasonable.

Only a few are a problem really.

Dark sense - depending on the meaning of it's description

Last minute hero - how many saves have you gotten in total during the egc? Because 1 is ok, 2 is really rare, 3 in the same game is once in a blue moon while saturn is alligned with pluto.

I mean.. there is 4 challenges that may seem quite hard... and by then, if you played a little, your rift should already maxed out. They seem to be more for extra BP’s IMO.

So if you dont want to do it dont, but for the players who likes a challenge then you can try them... I dont see your point here.

I feel your second point very hard, just today i took off the unhook challenge because its a almost impossible to beat a meg with sprintburst to a hook and put on a different one only to get a farming killer the next match.

So many of these are attainable by circumstances that are hard to emulate. Yes there are some basement matches that go down like this, yes i have gotten 3 unhooks in a egc, but to facilitate those circumstances in the short duration of time the rift is open is asking A Lot.

This will make matchs very, very unfun because killers will wanna do their challenges same as survivors but those challenges call for really toxic/unfun/mean gameplay that will more likely drive away players than bring them in. Single match challenges are difficult BECAUSE theyre single matches. They dont need more circumstances like egc to up the ante, they could just be more numbers.

Also i never even thought about the rift shard reward going away. I hope they either up the bp or add shards bcs as much as i want lore i can't play that toxic for it.

Some of those are just downright dumb

Grab 2 Survivors from a generator using tinkerer in a single game would be more appropriate for tome 4.

It's also really dumb that the release of the levels is spaced out so far apart. They really don't need to be spaced out at all, but one week for each would've been fine. Level 4 gets released in December, when a lot of people travel to visit family and such. A lot of players will get little chance to play it before the Rift is up.

I don't think the challenges are too difficult.

I think the problem lies within only being able to select one challenge per trial when that challenge can take multiple trials - it's frustrating.

Yeah, those level 4 challenges are absurd.

Some are straight up RNG or stuff you will never be able to do against a competent opponent.

Hopefully those are just placeholder and will be changed when level 4 actually comes out.

You guys got this all wrong. BHVR knows this is just going to force people to farm. Clearly this is meant to encourage cooperation between survivors and killers, just in time for the Christmas season! Entity bless us everyone!

You know it won't be. Because you know what Behaviour wants you to do instead of finishing the Rift.

    Why do people keep saying

"It's clear BHVR don't want us completing the rift"?

You don't need these challenges to complete the rift, sure they are hard and I don't agree with some of them but pretending the Rift wont be beatable without completing these challenges is a little hyperbolic.

This level of the tome offers 75 Rift fragments, that's only 7 rift levels, I went up two levels today in about 5 hours, you have 70 days so theoretically If I played an average of 5 hours a day I'd get 140 levels.

The rift is 100% possible without tome level 4, and there's still the other levels between it too.

I will re-post my opinion here:

If they are rly going to add that challenges that I saw, then I will ignore the IV tier. It's not worth it and it's most of time luck based rather than skill based. You are playing with other 4 people and how you can effect them? You can't unless you farm.

Btw, they are WAY harder than the rest, but they will give you same ammout of progress on rift? That's just bad. It should give you at least whole tier unlock for very hard (and luck) based challenges like kill 3 people in end game collaps in ONE game.

Save 2 people by flashlight in one game (carrying) is also so bad and lucky based. Yes, you can try to learn the timming, but even lower experienced killers will just look up OR they gonna pick someone facing the wall. On top of that you need to be very close to them to at least try it.
