Do you mean the archives? I know you're confused about certain things but I'll put it in layman's terms.
Rift = Free, but has an unlockable track for 1,000 cells (Hint, you can buy the pass after you've completed it, or you get up to a point where you think 1,000 cells is worth it)
Archives = A set of challenges that can help you boost yourself on the rift in the free & premium pass, you also get bloodpoints & lore about characters (Hint, you don't actually have to complete ANY of these challenges to progress in the rift, tome 4 only nets you 7 tiers anyway)
I hope that helps, feel free to spread this information with other people who can't tell the difference between something that is free and something that is paid for, have a lovely night.

Which are about the tomes, which is part of the archive, that IS FREE. Second of all you don't NEED to complete these challenges to progress in either path of the rift, THIRDLY the last tome only nets you 7 whole tiers, it's not the end of the world.
You can see exactly what you're getting before you even pay, you can get to any level you want, if you complete the pass you could by it on day 70 and guarantee you get what you want.
I really don't see what there is to complain about besides you're upset that some challenges might be extra hard (and I've already said I don't agree with them) but you certainly haven't paid for any of it soooo....???

And that's been the root of the balancing problem for so long. As devs, you SHOULD be the master of your game. You designed it. You should know all the ins and outs. You should know how far you can push the envelope. This is the type of insight necessary to make changes that people will welcome and enjoy.

Not speculation, experience. Very different things.
Just stop. You buy access to the premium track. Thats it. Everything else about the rift can be used and understood for free. Also... "How dare they advertise a product, dont they know you cant advertise your products?"

Unless you have people on your dev team that play the game at the highest level on both sides, or you frequently speak to people who are, you will never be capable of balancing your game. That's a fact of life for any game, you cannot simply look at numbers on a piece of paper and decide how to adjust your game - this isn't a game like that.
