The Amanda's Letter add-on for The Pig has been Kill Switched due to an issue with incorrect RBT count.

So I have played about 150 survivor games since the Strager things update and...
Haven't faced a Demorgorgon once! I don't know why but from rank 15 to 1 I never encountered one.
Is this just incredible coincidence or does nobody play Demogorgon?
Have you faced him more than me?

I think I was the same, I played and saw him a lot first weekend, then after I p3ed him I really didn't go back much, I think its skillset is too spread out, its not good at any one thing. I just find him a less-good freddy. Its not so much its a bad killer, just average.
That and any power that survivors can disable is never fun vs a team that knows what they are doing. Without the portals hes pretty useless, along with the shred being easy to avoid, and if its dodged it often puts you in front of the survivor unable to turn around, which is about the worst place to be, so even when I do play I tend to not use shred much at all.
Edit- Surge is really good tho so its worth it for that perk.

Demogorgon is quite rare. And I think there are several factors playing a role if a killer is popular or not. It's a newer killer, people have to grind points for and have to get into. Also Demogorgon is based on my experience a little bit stressfull or though to play efficiently. His kit allows him to track, chase, and have map control, but everyhting is mediocore. So you have to use everything and make the right decisions all the time.
In comparison to other killers like Nurse, Billy or Spirit e.g. which are much more straight forward and stronger, he is harder to get into I think. Besides that the Stranger Things chapter was probably more popular because of the survivors it comes with.
Also the killer roster is huge right now. People who don't have much time will probably prefer the killer they know well over newer ones with their limited time. A bunch of other killers like Hag, Wraith or Clown are quite rare as well.

There's an easy answer to your question, Demogorgon is a killer locked behind paygate and as long as he doesn't overperfom he's not appealing to most of the players. I really enjoy playing as/playing against Demogorgon, but I tend to play more balanced killers rather than stomping people with spirit/billy over and over again.

Honestly the reason I don't play Demi Logorgon that much despite it being in my top 3 favourite Killers is simply because I really don't like playing Killers that have very little control over their power.
Once my portal is down I have a very little control over exactly how useful it is in the match.
If survivors happened to finish gen in that area and my portal becomes obsolete I can't move it I have to wait for a survivor to destroy it and smart survivors won't.
That leaves shred as my only fully controllable power and just like with Amanda's ambush it's not exactly something you can force out too much. People who use Save The Best For Last and ambush or shred to hit their obsession would know sometimes it's just not worth it and forcing the alternate hit could be more detrimental than positive.
This is one of the reasons I'm not really fond of playing plague the survivors have way too much control over my power which really diminishes it's worth in my opinion

To me he offers no niche to play.
He excells in nothing really.
Map pressure is okay
Chases are okay
Stealth is situational
Gen pressure is okay
But he isn't better than another killer.
He needs setup time for his portals, but unlike hag or trapper he doesn't really profit that much from them.
His Shred is a nice lunge, even can destroy pallets now, but so can Billy and he even has an instadown.
So if you have to chose between, Nurse, Spirit, Hillbilly, Hag, Huntress, Freddy and so on. Why would you want to play the Demogorgan?
Some basement build can be effective and 3 gen strata can work well on him, but the same can be accomplished by other killers but better.

He's just generally not fun for me as a killer.
His portals are just weird. They make you stealthy, but come with a global "I AM STEALTHY NOW, KEEP AN EYE OUT" announcement. They can be used for detection but ONLY when they've been used and are visible to survivors, so you can never use it to detect a survivor who doesn't know it's nearby then teleport near them. It's one or the other, guesswork (or perks) and surprise, or tracking but less likely to get anything from it. It's also worse than other teleporting/mobile killers, as you have to walk everywhere to place your mobility which takes time. Unlike Hag, having one destroyed doesn't give you any opportunity to capitalise on that survivor unless you were already there.
If you detect someone, you also have to take the time to then place a portal or move to one, then there's the travel time. By this point they can be literally anywhere, or they closed your portal before you travelled.
Shred is alright but it's got a very narrow hitbox and decent survivors are easily able to evade it. Outside of longer walls on loops it doesn't help too much. It can break pallets but takes about the same time to recover as just breaking it so other than forcing pallets down from survivors who are camping the pallet anyway, that's just fancy nothing.
He just doesn't do anything that other killers don't do better, he's pulled in too many directions and doesn't do any of them well enough to be enjoyable.
- He's mobile, but it's too cumbersome to be practical most of the time.
- He has a chase attack, but it's too unreliable and more often you're better off taking the safe M1 route rather than risk missing a shred or two.
- He has stealth, but loudly announces it to everyone, the same issue that Ghostface had on the PTB which got removed.
- He has detection, but only on survivors who are basically choosing to be detected, and only if he slows himself down to use it.

Its really hard to not compare Demogorgon to Freddy, because they have such similar powers. They are both teleporting killers with tools to help them dealing with looping. And to some extent they both offer survivors secondary objectives to distract them from generators in the form of the sleep cycle and portals removal.
But overall Freddy feels like he as the smoother, better kit. Demogorgon require more work. He need to place his portals, activate them and watch them with Killer Instinct. He need to stand on a portal to teleport, wich make reactive quick teleport much more awkward if you don't want to place a portal in the middle of nowhere. And he will most likely end up with dead portals as the game progress wich he can't remove himself.
Freddy can just teleport from anywhere, and fake teleport for mind games. Even if Dream Projection has the longer cooldown, its massively reduced by survivors being asleep and and he can use add-ons to make it even shorter.
Shred and Dream Snares are both pretty good tools for making loops more dangerous. No complaints here. Dream Pallets require more setup and can lead to a big payoff or nothing at all.
But where Freddy takes the cake his with the Sleep Cycle. The non-directional lullaby + Freddy's small size make his location very difficult to pinpoint, forcing survivor to hide or risk running into him. And its just passive. Survivors fall asleep on their own, and when you hit them. And they have to deal with snare/pallets and the various add-ons Freddy can use, or waste time trying to wake up.
On the Demogorgon's side, survivors are given the ability to close his portals. Wich mean they have to stand in detection range of the portal and suffer the Oblivious status while they do it. But Demo is a very lourd and tall killer. So the Oblivious effect is countered by having eyes and ears. And why bother closing portals when you can just rush the gen and leave the portal in a dead zone ?
Freddy's powers are just so much more convenient to use, with no slow down whatsoever and many passive benefits. Demo's kit require, setup, constant surveillance and his much clunkier and less reactive than Freddy's.
Demogorgon is a visualy striking killer and his custom TR and chase music are awesome. He is still far better than some of the lower tier killers, but he just can't quite cut it for the high tier either. His powers are just too cumbersome and hold him at the top of mid tier.

You guys are just bad at the demogorgon 🥶 I get at least 3k every single game with the demogorgon

Demogorgon was a lot more common in the first week or two when Stranger Things first hit.
Nowadays only a few people actually use Demogorgon, he's a lot rarer now. This means people don't seem to really like him as a killer.
150 games without meeting him once though is just bad RNG. I fought a Demogorgon yesterday, but that was maybe 1 in 20 games. (Yes I play around 20 games or more at a time in DBD, I'm a binge player).

This is probably the real reason.
Freddy is just a superior version of Demogorgon in every way.
Teleporting to any gen is way better than Demogorgon's portal teleports.
Freddy also has much better add-on support. Forever Freddy is a strong build. And lastly, snares and fake pallets IMO are much more useful in a chase than Demo's shred attack.
Freddy also has built-in BT immunity.
I would imagine most killers who want to play Demo ended up playing Freddy instead. Freddy is everywhere maybe 1 in 5 matches I go up against these days is Freddy.

All killers can easily get 3k/4k if you know what you're doing.
This doesn't mean Demo is a strong killer.

I think the biggest issue is his perks, I can see a Doc/Legion main using Mindbreaker with Distressing and Monitor, Surge would seem solid on Billy, I think Cruel Limits would be way stronger if it forced pallet throws along with Windows.

Because demogorgon has a skillcap both in shred(huge mindgame potential) and portals, people don't realize how to play him yet.. remember spirit? the thing is that to be effective you need to play him in a certain way and with a certain build.. Demo is the only killer other than spirit and nurse who counter dead hard for distance.. Demo is underrated.. in terms of chase he is in top 5 with nurse, spirit, hag and huntress.. best way to play him is with Corrupt intervention, pop/enduring/infectous fright, bbq, save the best for last..the choice of these perks is simple, they elevate demo in probably the third strongest killer..Corrupt because you need early game to set up portals in the area you want and always behind walls to get a free hit or even a grab(remember don't set all the portals 3 are enough) ,to build stbfl stacks, wich helps you're pressure in mid-late game..you just don't need to use the portals immediately(unless you don't find anybody, because survivors can break them), but only after you hook somebody, with bbq you see wich gens are worked and with pop you regress it... or if you want an aggressive playstyle, go with enduring or infectous, after you build up your sbtfl stacks your chase and slug potential is huge, to slowdown or win the game.. his weakness is genrush doe.. that's why you need this build.. if survivors are greedy during loops i shred them(short loops are hard but it's possible), he is similar to billy in terms of playstyle, you constantly zoning, fakes shred, etc.. but he is fast af, so it's not that easy to dodge, especially in a closer range.. that's it, he is really underrated..
