People, please.
I played a game yesterday that at a point in the match resulted in 2 Survivors dead, 1 hooked and one alive. I found the living Survivor who happened to be repairing a gen. The second I show up, the immediately run over to the only event hook in this game and sabo it.
Why the hell would a Survivor want to do that? I'm struggling to comprehend why they want to essentially flip me the bird and why these hooks can be sabotaged anyway.
In case you're curious, I slugged them until the hook came back. I wanted that damn hook.😂
TL;DR: Why can event hooks be sabo'd?
Edit: My fingers are freezing, so spelling is hard.

Sabo is part of the game even if an event is going on. It is relatively rare these days, and the event hooks give you minimal bp anyway. Just smile and keep on trucking.

I know, but it was just the fact that they were dead anyway and they just HAD to give me that last BM. I'm not too angry, just a little frustrated.

Event hooks in the past have been unsabotagable precisely to prevent this kind of behaviour. I don't think there was any real reason not to do the same thing this time.
5 -
Were they always un-sabotageble?

Give me a good reason why they shouldn't be sabotageable except for "MUH EVENT HOOK".

Give me a good reason why they should.
2 -
Because they're limited hooks for bonus BP. Are you seriously suggesting you want to be that ######### who will deny someone bloodpoints?
2 -
Also, why should my event objective be at the mercy of Survivors?
1 -
Why should survivors event objective be at the mercy of Killers?
1 -
Killers can't stop you from repairing a gen. They can only slow progress. Survivors can completely deny killers event points.
2 -
Because kicking a generator does not stop Survivors from immediatly repairing it, unlike sabotoging a hook?
It's almost like the two things are in no way related.
...megamind.

Because the survivor was clearly just being an ass for the sake of it. How many games do you really see anyone sabo hooks nowadays? I pretty much never see it happen anymore. It's always Gen rushers. And it's 3k BP for the hook. Would the survivor be so put out just because the killer got 3K extra?
1 -
Holy you realise kicking gens does basically nothing, that's not how you pressure gens hahahahahaha. You said yourself that you waited for the hook to respawn, so your bias is coming through clearly with "oh no survivors can COMPLETELY deny us poor killers our event BP."
0 -
I had to wait 3 minutes. That's unreasonable.
If you're referring to chasing Survivors supposedly "denying their points" it's my objective. Sabo is not the Survivor's objective. And while I chase one Survivor, up to 3 others can go get points.
2 -
Or you could've not been salty and taken any other hook.
Chasing survivors isn't your objective, hooking them is, the same way saboing isn't survivors objective, escaping is. :)

"Chasing Survivors isn't your objective"
Chasing Survivors is my objective, because it is the only way to hook Survivors. That and grabs, but you can't win on grabs alone. So chasing is my objective.
2 -
No, hooking is your objective, chasing just helps you get hooks.
Escaping is survivors objective, sabo just helps them escape.
1 -
Hmm, lets see. Do I completely remove the generator from use for a whole 3 minutes? Or do I make it be completely stagnant for 3 minutes?
Yeah I thought so.
1 -
"Chasing helps you get hooks" chasing is how you get hooks.
2 -
Dude. Just ignore @Alphaphalt He's clearly trolling. No one with even half a brain could equate a gen kick to a sabo, and he'll do any sort of half-assed mental gymnastics to keep being right in his head.

Maybe they immediately ran over to it because it was the nearest hook and that if they went down they would have a chance to wiggle? Idk.
It’s hard to say. It’s no different than a 3 gen strat when a killer is trying to prevent a specific gen to pop. Non intentional but still screws over the survivor.
You still ended up with your points, so 🤔
1 -
So you're telling me it's impossible to get hooks without chase? As I was saying you gigabrain, chasing is the method to help you complete your objective the same way sabo helps you save survivors to help complete their objective of escaping.

Actually the game has many objectives including ranking up. You can die and still rank up ad a survivor for example.
hunting, chasing, hitting and hooking are all examples of in game objectives. Sacrificing is the overall objective which they all lead up too.
Evading, doing gens, totems are all examples of survivor in game objectives while escaping is their overall objective.
There is more than just one objective in the game.

Because it's how they get their points. It wouldn't be fair if the killer could take the survivors event gens out.

Pop disagrees.

Considering that hooks come back and you still got it you shouldn't be complaining about something that has probably happened to you once or twice. Try every single killer running ruin which completely denies event points when only one gen gets done a game cause all my Randy's are looking, nobody can find it and I can only get about 1 gen before the killer tunnels and Camps me to death.

People are just well...people that's why. Seen killers defend the event gens and just the event gens all game as well as sabo squads to keep you from getting event hooks. Just people being people. Thankfully not howling grounds level tho.

Event hooks in general? I don't think so. I couldn't tell you which event it was, maybe around Howling Grounds? One of the first times they introduced event hooks for points people complained about them being sabotagable, and so the devs changed it, and as far as I know every event since then has had unsabotagable event hooks except this one.

last year for the event they made them unsabotagible, but since this years its only for extra BP, it doesn't really matter IMO.

Did you happen to be spirit playing against a david by any chance?
0 -
You're the kind of guy to complain I used pop on a event gen
0 -
I was Spirit, I don't remember the Survivors. There was a Feng, who sabo'd the hook, but otherwise idk.

We don't speak of how horrid Howling Grounds was...I have nightmares of that event.

it's their job to sabotage hooks. Can't complain about them doing their job. Now, if they are dcing, standing there doing nothing while their teamates repair all the gens and then they wait for them to die and grab the hatch.. or any situation in which they are not doing their part/causing their team to suffer report them for griefing. You can't rightfully whine at survivors for doing their job (just like they can't rightfully whine at us killers for doing our job). there are some things that also fall under the category of role playing (malicious stalking , letting all 4 survivors bleed out, mori, camping, tunneling, body blocking, tea bagging) none of these things are against the rules.
Arguably, if you were part of team of 4 survivors in the woods running from a vicious killer with a chainsaw hellbent on hooking you to sacrifice you to some demonic entity.. I'm sorry, but you can't rightfully tell me you wouldn't act this way , nor the killer act this way (hence why these things are considered roleplaying).
Just be grateful they didn't instantly dc, and then proceed to troll you on your steam profile acting like a sore loser. IMO they stuck around the match... and the bloodpoints you gained chasing them , stalking them and rehooking them made up for their behavior. They could have just dc'd and the match would have ended if they were the last one. YOu would have probably lost a pip unless saftied. You definitely wouldn't have as much bloodpoints. I see no issue in the way they acted, what they did actually resulted in you getting more BP then if you had just hooked them on the event hook right then and there and ended the match (most likely, just estimating).
Also, this is all really weird anyway, since when I went to sabotage an event hook earlier it would not let me.. weird.
anyway, the survivors already whine at us killers for doing our job..so..don't act like them. lol.

It was a bigger deal last year when you literally needed gens/hooks to get your serum, this year with the ptw format the event is literally marginal bp points extra and that's it. no reason to be upset about it tbh

Still better than Withering Blight though tbh.
