Why was hatch grabbing removed?
When it comes down to a 1v1, it becomes clunky when either the killer closes the hatch, interrupting the survivor's animation, or the survivor's animation overlapping the killer's.
Keys more importantly are a free escape with no risk since the killer can no longer grab them, closing the hatch altogether, and instead has to sit there for a few seconds until the prompt to close the hatch appears and skips the remainder of the trial to the endgame. Not as satisfying when you can't punish a key holder for performing an unsafe hatch escape.

I understand no hatch grabs for the EGC trigger, but until they make the hatch 1 key = 1 survivor escape instead of EVERYONE, I wish they would allow hatch grabs when opened with a key. Right now keys have no counterplay (and don't anyone say franklin's) and the chests are giving them out like mad lately.

Hatch grabbing got removed so that hatch standoff wouldn't be a thing.
I don't think hatch should open AGAIN if someone escaped via key and killer closed the hatch as it actually finished all of the gens for survivors.

Because both the hatch changes and EGC aren't concerned with consistently helping one side or another, their only goal is to help end the match. And it does that just fine. If the survivor leaves through hatch the game ends, if the killer closes it it puts a hard time limit on how much longer the match can last.

Really? Your complaining about hatch grabs being taken away cause it's helping the survivor!? And the wanna take away advantages from killers? Let me stop you right there. Y'all have Noed which now is a crutch perk for killers who are bad at gen protecting, ruin which is more powerful now cause it's harder to find totems without everyone running small game or a map. And not only did they nerf medkits they nerfed the add-ons cause it's no point in having syringe if it the person I use it on is down and can't run cause killers usually pick them up and the purple medkits add on is only useful if you have no other option.

Taking away hatch grabs means that a Survivor with a Key + a closed hatch isn't a standoff either.
Instead of just sitting there waiting for the Killer to leave the Key just goes through and skips to the part where they escape.
Unintuitively this actually helps the Killer here. Because in the alternative scenario the Killer would end up waiting until any remaining generators were powered before the stalemate is broken that way still with a Survivor win.
This does have downsides in other situations, such as where the Killer and final Survivor are standing on the hatch while the 2nd to last Survivor is in the dying animation on the hook. But otherwise the change makes sense and it helps more than it hurts.

@danielmaster87 Or they did not, and made it fair by not allowing a killer to simply grab while jumping through it. While you can find it first and close it.

Oh boohoo. They increased hit boxes to twice their original size to please you as well. They also added a basement to counter sabotaging hooks. Basment is too strong. One way out not to mention camping with insidious like some killer mains do. That is an easy kill for campers. So if the hatch is really that much of an issue then go play survivor.

If grabs weren't removed then Keys would cause the exact same stalemate the hatch closing mechanic is supposed to prevent.

I used to hear of Hatch standoffs going on for hours and hours (if people were that lifeless and dedicated). So um, I feel there was reason for removal.

The EGC would not have had to be triggered. It could end up going on for as long as it takes the other Survivor to complete all of the gens and leave on his own assuming they are actually on gens at all (rip solo que), so this speeds things up by skipping all of that and resolving it instantly.
Keys are a problem don't get me wrong, but this change makes sense with them in mind.

No. Survivor with key finds closed hatch. Killer also finds hatch. Survivor with Key can now just wait at the closed hatch and leave once the Killer leaves. The Killer thus has to stay to prevent the escape.
There is no EGC because the hatch was never closed. It has to be opened first and that hasn't necessarily happened yet.
You don't see hatch standoffs here because they will just jump in due to the lack of a Grab. If there was a grab then there would be a stalemate here due to the Survivor not wanting to jump in while the Killer is there. This would be fine if the Killer had a way to capitalize on the hesitation, but he doesn't.

Make hatch grabs just like other grabs. They work if the survivor is injured. That way if there's a potential hatch standoff with a healthy survivor, they escape, and if they're injured, they'll probably be grabbed.

Everything is fine i dont see what the big deal is with grabs being removed if you can shut the hatch as a killer keys arent really that abundant as its being said maybe in your matches whatever rank you just are getting unlucky which absolutely means you should be running franklins demise because what do you expect when you can just close the hatch and guard gens if one person escapes and you are seriously that upset about i dont know what you are looking for if they remove keys from the game killers are going to lose something too i dont know what it would be but im sure they would .

I play both Survivor and killer and understand both frustrations but I agree with the killer's side because they have to find a hatch first and close it and then have to go Patrol each gate and sometimes those gates are a mile away so the Survivor still has a chance at surviving when it should just be a game over in my opinion. The worst part about closing the hatch is that if you're using characters like clown, wraith, plague, freddy, etc they have a hard time patrolling gates. Especially when the gates are far from each other. I think it should be sudden death. If the killer closes the hatch in-game collapse automatically kills the last survivor.
If you're a killer Main and you want to counter play this run Whispers and Camp the hatch until your Whispers go off and then close it and keep following your Whispers. If they have a key you're ######### so also bring noed. But then again I feel like noed is a waste of a slot. Because it really is a "what if perk"

As long as its super easy to patrol both gates during Endgame, there shouldn't get be a hatch grab.

One thing I've noticed is Survivor Mains and Killer Mains are both big babies and both need to walk a mile in each others shoes. Survivors naturally have the advantage as in they could go split up and work on a gen the only thing that stops survivors from winning is mistakes and dumb choices. A killer is only one person and has to chase 4 people so why shouldn't they have Perks like ruin just so they can slow the game down a little bit and ruin sometimes is a useless perk and can get destroyed within the first 10 seconds of the game. Ruin is a gamble perk. Noed can be prevented. Having three survivors working on a gen while one distract the Killer cannot be prevented unless survivors make dumb choices. However Killers have some overpowered things like mori's and barbecue and chili and Whisperers but same thing with survivors they have stuff like keys and self-care and tool boxes which are ######### bullshit in my opinion. but you know what I'm okay with all of that because they both have pros and cons and if you got your way at dead by daylight The Killers would just always be losing in that game. Would it be fun?Imagine having a game where it's hard to lose and a bunch of killers would stop playing making dead by daylight die.

Since there's an achievement for everyone escaping through the hatch they can't make it 1 key 1 escape.

Personally I agree with you but again there's alot of perks and items on survivor side that get nerfed to the ground and make u not want to use them like I think DS was a great perk that shouldn't have been changed the way it is now because it's kinda useless now. Brand New part I can see why they nerfed it and I'm not mad about that but killers complained noed is Garbo at tier one and what they do made it expose you on tier one. Not to mention them changing the exhaust timer when killers can bloodlust all day long without a cooldown. My big issue is killers complain more than survivors when honestly every past update has benefitted the killer and all they do is complain about a flashlight and pallets. Bet if they reverted Noed to the way it used to be killers would be in an uproar

Lol no I don't recall getting voice messages 😂 so we have yet to go against each other, and I know wat u mean racist people do tend to sit behind computers more in this age and day than before cuz they know you can't do anything about it.

Hatch grabs were removed simply to give survivors a chance of getting out through the hatch. If killers could close the hatch and grab survivors when they jump in, then the hatch would be more of a nuisance rather than anything, just starting the EGC timer.
It's called balancing.
I know all you killer mains want the survivors to just run straight into you and give you free 4K's and double pips, but that's just not how it works. You've got to learn that survivors are controlled by other real-world people that want to have fun. And giving killers every possible advantage just isn't a way for that to happen.
