Spirit isn't op but

The main problem with spirit is that she isn't over powered but she just isn't fun or enjoyable to go against kinda like pre nerf legion. There just isn't a hole lot of input from the spirit all you see is her standing still. You don't know if she is phasing. You don't know if she is just standing there. Say you do know she is phasing well that brings up a lot of questions like is she just phasing but still on the other side of the pallet. Which side is she coming from? Should I run or walk away? Should i vault the pallet? This type of gameplay isn't fun and feels more like a formula than a video game. Then if the spirit is running addons then now all of this changed and most of the time it doesn't matter what you do your just going to die. Comparing this to the nurse (which in my opinion she is a better killer) you get so much information like whether or not she is blinking, how long she has held the blink, and where she is looking telling you a general area she is going to.

Honestly I used to think she was fine just needed some addon reworks but after seeing the amounts of complaints I do think something a bit bigger needs to be done. Not sure what should be changed or how it should be done though.

How far away can you here these footsteps? Cause just cause there louder doesn't mean its easier to hear kinda like using stridor.

I would be okay with those. I think it would be okay to bring back the directional phase sound but only outside the terror radius and just make the sound the way it is currently inside of it. Maybe prayer beads could then change how the sounds work.

She needs more tells when she’s using her ability, but she does not need a nerf.

Wait why are you reworking prayer beads and getting rid of collision if prayer beads are used in gen grabber build

Nerf the add-ons but not the base kit or we will get what happened to Nurse - 3 nurfs in 1 patch and now noone plays her.

PS. About the triple Nurse nerf:

Base power nurf + add-ons nurf + nerf on the new add-ons!

That's your opinion but I find spirit very fun to go against and with, unpredictable, but same can apply to her Vs the survivors, depends on how they chase, and use pallets and if you can play with her tricks and her play them for you to play with too, it's a constant mind game and can really help a killer or the killer accidentally help a survivor escape, best killer so far, this need idea will ruin her, I don't know why people are so against the best killer yet, cause you don't like the challenge? It is challenging for both sides if neither side are stupid

If you go round saying "let's nerf these 7 add-ons on a killer" that just indicates how much weaker you want Spirit to be without necessarily wanting a rework or tweak of her at base. In all you'll still end up complaining if these changes went ahead.

I personally think scratch marks should be delayed in phasing by 1 extra second then you would have plenty of opportunity to 'mind game' or make the killer anticipate your actions better to get you got.

The sweaty spirit players are annoying but if you waste their time they are not as good as many people make out. Running in the open is a dumb idea for any Killer.

If she gets more tells she will be rendered useless, she has audibly cues and can't see survivors unless they sprint, give her more and she can't use it ever to her advantage and mess mind game tactics

The cries are normally counters, here, easy counters for both

Survivor, don't be dumb, she can beat t-baggers cause you don't realise she is going around but, a smart survivor waits a little then stealth vaults and now it's just the reverse and killer wasted time or walks away to somewhere they can hide, walk not sprint, double counter right there

Killer, play with this, she can make a 50/50 gamble stand still and have that cause a waste of time and make chases worse or they stealth vault over and you get free hit or phase around and get a free hit from moron's or find they now are the other side or hidden

Survivor, if the killer suddenly stops walk behind a rock but don't lose sight of the still spirit, that might be the plan if that moves again then sprint again you have distance, if she is lingering there too long start walking more to a new spot but keep sight on the spot, you have either just escaped or gained proper distance, if she appears at the end of your sprint marks unless hit, you have gotten away most of the time

Killer, if the survivor is far away, phase helps close gap, don't run it too long you'll lose them 100% or stay still and they hide you see where they hide, if they didn't stop sprinting then phase, you still overall close the gap and if they hide phase for a little to close that lost distance hopefully they went into the open and you can phase a bit closer from there

Survivor, use your God damn ears, she can be heard, at a gen if you hear her, stop gen and walk away from it, you get hit at least you still have a chance, she hits the gen, you have some time to hide from her then continue when she leaves

Killer, don't be stupid, use the fact the husk has TR be at a distance to gen and then phase, makes it harder but not important to hear and increased not make definite a grab

I have given you all the main reasons spirit is balanced as hell, literally each counter can be countered which can also counter back, depends on the individual skills and luck at that point, this is how I deal with this killer as a survivor and win more commonly as a result and what I do as a killer and win more commonly as a result, and the struggle both sides get when both sides apply this is intense but can lean more in survivor favour, as it can make chases longer, no change or very quick, it's who can trick who better, a gamble for both sides, where you can accept you made the mistake or laugh at their mistake

    reading the first post -

so nurse is better cause as SURVIVOR you 100% know how to counter her and spirit you don't?

"you get so much information like whether or not she is blinking, how long she has held the blink, and where she is looking telling you a general area she is going to"

    WHAT?

That honestly would be nice to me. Scratch mark juking becomes even more useful (had a fixated use it against me last night for the first time). A lot of the changes people want will make it become "oh she's charging her phase, oh phase finished charging, oh she's there atm" if multiple of them go through at once.

I wonder if it's possible for a discussion based on The Spirit to not devolve into pointless rambles, snide remarks, questioning someone's skill levels or simply BOLD, BETTER USE BOLD.

Would love to see a constructive discussion about her one-day.

I agree. The fun factor for me facing her is non existent. I don't think I have ever had a Spirit match I've enjoyed since her release.

Yeah I forgot about that. If collision is removed, prayer beads will be fine

I recently tried Spirit for the first time to see if the complaints about her were justified. Normally I suck whenever I try a new killer but I managed to get 4 perfect games in a row with her (and I am purple rank btw). I even had one survivor in the end game chat asking if I was a spirit main and he was shocked to find out it was my first time using her. I only had basic perks and addons equipped. I do believe she is a bit too easy to pick up. At least with nurse it took practice to become a good nurse, with Spirit I feel like you only need to play one match and your good.

I've said it many time but how are you supposed to know where precisely she is while chasing you because of her ability ? You can't even really know when you are truly safe, expect when using Spine Chill.

  • arslaN
    arslaN Member Posts: 1,936

Going against nurse is much more enjoyable because you know what she is doing, where she is going etc. It's not about her strenght.

Constant coin flip chases against spirit is boring and unfun as hell

  • Auron471
    Auron471 Member Posts: 1,310

All lies. Stop protecting her you spirit main! Kidding.

but at a pallet loop you can’t hear whooshing and you can only hear the footsteps if they have prayer beads and she has to be within lunge range so that isn’t useful.

Her animation resetting isn’t really reliable in a chase and I believe it only happens on default skin spirit.

Everytime I try to find survivors, I run into the issue of not knowing which gen I should go to first. Sometimes I get a noise notification, but I can't see the direction the survivor is going, so I don't know if I should pursue the noise notification. I'm not saying it's OP, but it's not fun to deal with.

It is kind of unfair though, having to run all the way to a noise notification, just to find no survivor. This isn't fun, how am I supposed to know what to do?

No one plays her cause she is harder now also people still think she is bad but she is still best killer but still spirit won't be like that.

isnt that the whole point? you have to use brain to counter her! use different methods to avoid her - dont use same gameplay that you use against ALL other killers! find something new!

i know that to lose a match and waste time on it to de-rank sucks... but nerf a killer because you dont win and cant anticipate her every move? thats stupid. shes the only killer who counter SWF - sorry - cancerous stinky useless SWF.

i don't mind the nerf if ill get FILTER system :

( ) do you want to play against party with 3 or more? check the box

( ) do you want to play against all ranks? check the box

( ) do you want to play against 3 ranks above you and 2 blow you? check the box

if we get this filters, sure! nerf the hell out of her like they did with every killer people Q.Q about... till then, leave spirit alone (Britney spears style)

  • ruler33
    ruler33 Member Posts: 244

A mind game is when a killer and survivor have a 50/50 chance with spirit its like a 80/20 so not its not a mind game. Its not challenging for spirit its pretty easy to play no challenging

  • ruler33
    ruler33 Member Posts: 244

She has no reliable counters you have to realize that spirit players know the counters cause there real people meaning they know how to play around them so now she has no counters. And no i dont want a tell to her every move but i want a tell for something there is literally zero input from the spirit when she phases you dont know whats shes doing she could phase but she could be standing still there is literally no tell.

  • ruler33
    ruler33 Member Posts: 244

no she is funner to play against you missed the point entirely

  • Cecaelia
    Cecaelia Member Posts: 79

Yeah I find her not enjoyable to play against either. Like pre-legion rework unenjoyable.

Her problem honestly is the same problem that Doctor has: She gets way too much information for absolutely nothing. But Doctor is manageable because it's just a standard chase, he just gets to find you randomly for free if you don't want to locker hop the entire game.

The thing is a chase with Rin doesn't even feel like a skill match up if you don't have Iron Will, because as I mentioned before...she gets too much information to help her track when she's supposed to be vulnerable. She can bump into you. She hears you if you're wounded without IW. Blinky blink blink, stand still can't tell if she's moving or not if she has prayer beads...which aren't rare at all. No animations for her. Not much a mind game if you don't have enough information to play the game.

  • vossler25
    vossler25 Member Posts: 416

Then you aren't a good survivor, I base everything on games played, survivors can use the spirits power against her very easily if they are smart enough, use friends to help with sounds outside TR and inside TR then use friends to learn good ways to disappear from the killer if you would otherwise get grabbed, if you are really struggling that much, spirit is a slayer of the inexperienced and stupid, and is super balanced with smart and experienced survivors, the killer does pick which she does, but the choices can be heard, which if you learn you can exploit, whereas a killer at that point needs to work out what you're doing, it is a mind game, only advice I can give you now is, get more experience or if you have played long, git gud

  • ruler33
    ruler33 Member Posts: 244

Ive played the game long enough to understand the game. I do well against spirit. Your missing the point the problem is that spirit is unfun to play against not that she is to good when i outplay a spirit which happens a bit i don't feel glad its just not fun.

  • vossler25
    vossler25 Member Posts: 416

Well we differ in that thought I find her very nice to play against and with, the gamble both sides take is exciting to me, and if you say 80/20 and now claim you do well Vs her, I feel you are talking nonsense now, how can you say you do well when you say she is an 80/20 chance? No, the 80/20 is smart killer Vs stupid survivors 50/50 when both sides are smart 20/80 if killer is stupid and survivors are smart

  • angardia
    angardia Member Posts: 54

people can counter with lots of perks.

Iron Will, Lightweight, Spine Chill, Urban Evasion, Dance with me, Small game, Premonition...

and ofc if shes not fun, you can always use the nurse or any other killer.

but to nerf her cause shes hard to play against? should she stay at one spot and wait till you all finish the gens and then run around you a bit so you will get the extra points for the chase? thats stupid.

ima spirit main and im so so as spirit - i still cant see the small grass everyone is talking about or always win a chase. people loop me around and i lose more then win.

As rank 7 spirit - i mostly get ranks 2-4 SWF... believe me they finish a match without even one death easy... so it all depends who plays spirit and against who the spirit plays.

yell nerf every time you don't like something and it isnt "FUN" is not the solution.

you can use other 16 different killers.

I just hope killer playing as spirit, PLEASE DON’T CAMP!! I don’t mind to encounter any form of killer, I enjoy every games, just don’t camp

  • ruler33
    ruler33 Member Posts: 244

Your missing the point the point is that spirit isn't fun to play against. She is fun to play and im not asking for nerfs im asking for changes i would be fine if they buffed her but made her fun to play against. Also perks are not a reliable counter use your head do you know what killer your going to play against before you see them? no

  • derperson
    derperson Member Posts: 130

This is how balancing works. Your decisions in perk selection is what makes the game interesting and fun, because sometimes you're not optimized for some situation and you're challenged. If survivors had a build that gave them counters to every killer then the game would be incredibly boring because everyone would run that build.

Also, I don't see how you change these mechanics of the spirit without ruining her being fun to play.

  • FriendlyGuy
    FriendlyGuy Member Posts: 2,768

But something being "unfun" or "boring" for players is no reason to nerf something.

If you can't adapt, move on to another game, feel free.

  • arslaN
    arslaN Member Posts: 1,936

Except that isn't how balancing works. If you don't have a decent chance against something without using some specific perks, there is something very wrong.

  • FriendlyGuy
    FriendlyGuy Member Posts: 2,768

Play her on red ranks and tell me she's just "harder" again. People in lower ranks usually doesn't understand, that the higher you get in ranks, the more of nurses power is prediction. And nobody is a mindreader. She's maybe the best killer in theory, but not actually the best killer anymore.

  • SpookyJeff
    SpookyJeff Member Posts: 108

You don't change those without ruining the fun of playing her, but no one really cares about that. Any changes to her base kit that make it easier for survivors to read her are NERFs. That is exactly the definition of what a nerf is, lowering the capabilities/power of a killer. It won't stop until survivors can tapdance their way through every match with zero threat. No one has even been able to take a breath after Nurse getting smacked with the nerf stick and we're already on to the next best killer trying to nerf her into the ground. Yeah, let's make her glow when she phases, force feed you noise notifications whenever she enters/exits phasing, lower her movement speed, make all her addons useless, and hell, while we're at it, buff the speed survivors do gens. Sound good to you guys? It's just getting a bit ridiculous considering NO ONE was complaining about Spirit until you guys got your wish in taking down Nurse. It just seems survivor mains want zero viable killers, and it's a bit sad.

  • derperson
    derperson Member Posts: 130

    Alright, you can disagree.

However, that’s why you bring perks. You choose your perks to give you bonuses in areas you might experience trouble. If you chose perks that don’t help you against the killer you get matched with, you are at a disadvantage. But the game itself is still balanced, because outside of that trial, the perks to counter any killer exist. This is balancing in action; it’s available to you, just not right at the moment you realize you’re at a disadvantge.

  • NinoV1
    NinoV1 Member Posts: 382

Not really; I’m speaking more during her phasing rather then the start.

Perhaps leaving a trail of ectoplasm or you can faintly see her image. This way survivors will stop morning that she has no counter play whilst not really effecting her actual ability.

Dont get me wrong I don’t want her nerfed either but if they’re going to do it it needs to be slight tells not ability overhauls.

  • PistolTimb
    PistolTimb Member Posts: 1,413

Prayer beads and phasing Collision are the only things wrong with current spirit. Deal with both of these and she will be balanced, much like hillbilly.

  • ruler33
    ruler33 Member Posts: 244

ok sorry i thought you meant a tell to when she starts phasing
