There is katana.
There is not.
Who took it? New killer? New killer on other killer map? New Killer is entity who can teleport to other realms and steal something? New teaser will be on other map? On Ormond? On Temple? Orrrr maybe the Rin's father took the katana and he was possessed by the new killer. We didn't know why he killed Rin and Rin's Mother!

I think maybe you shouldn't try to read so hard into this. You're probably going to be disappointed with the actual answer.

First, I'm wondering: Does somebody know if the Katana was always missing, or was the map secretly changed last patch? Haven't found yet any older footage when it was there.
Besides that we know why the father killed his family. He went mad in despair based on his life condiditions we read about in Rin's backstory.

New killer stole the katana. He possessed Rin's father. He killed her family. He took the katana, maybe he took other things from other maps? Maybe because of this he can transform into Survivors (blood on weapon) or Killers (Killer's weapon)! We do not know why he killed Rin and Rin's Mother! It was the new killer?

New Map (i know roadmap said there will not be but mathieu said map is possible) - The killer will take few items from different realms (ormond, temple, mothers, macmillian) and will CREATE it's new realm created with different realm materials. IT'S SO EPIC.
If the killer is Entity and it can transform into Killer/Survivor... It's 100% pennywise. Or original - inspired by Pennywise.

I reckon that it's actually the newest part of the Archives. The next lore book to be released will be for Yamako Rin. It'll also be in a very similar style to Evan MacMillain's lore entries. I also don't think that it'll be the father since the Entity chose Rin over her father due to her rage that overshadowed everything her father had done.

The Tomes are most likely going to go in chronological order to some degree. Skipping two years worth of survivors and killers just to tell Spirit's story is odd writing. Plus, the next tome is two months away. Why tease for it now when the first Tome has not even received its second level yet? The missing katana ingame is the final nail in the coffin.
