The new Nurse is a Greek tragedy
I took the new nurse for a test drive through a few trials today. She is not very fun to play, to put it mildly. The new charging mechanic for blinks means survivors always gain just enough distance to keep outpacing you before you recharge. Even if you get close enough to land that perfect blink, she now broadcasts exactly where she's going to land a split second beforehand, one dead hard and the whole miserable process starts again. I spent most of the trials trying in vain to blink after survivors running in a straight line. And they mocked me mercilessly, of course. I got the full teabagging flashlight clicking shitshow treatment, which I pretty much expected seeing as I was a threat to no one. Well, maybe she's addon dependent now, like Doc, who I still enjoy.
Except her addons don't help. At all.
Bad Man Keepsake- hitting a survivor with a successful blink attack causes their aura to be revealed when healing or being healed within a 28 meter range for 60 seconds.
So.....this addon gives you a minute of nurse's calling.......on nurse🤔
Spasmodic breath- hitting a survivor with a successful blink attack disables the nurse's ability to blink and increases the nurse's base movement speed to 4.6 m/s for 60 seconds.
......So if I somehow actually land a blink I can become a trapper speed loopable killer for a full gens worth of time? What if within that minute I see a juicy opportunity to blink? A minute is a long time in dbd so unless a survivor wanders into a dead zone what exactly is the point of this?
White nit comb- increases bloodpoints for blink attacks by 100%......while moderately decreasing your lunge after a blink.
Extra bloodpoints for hits you won't get🤔
And one more, I won't go through them all.
Matchbox- removes 1 blink charge. Increases the nurse's base movement speed to 4.2 m/s
So in exchange for half my power, which isn't much help catching survivors anyway, I can move slightly slower than huntress? And use my one blink like demogorgons shred but worse since I advertise exactly where I'm going? That's an ultra rare btw😨
I won't go through the rest, but they honestly aren't any better.
When I play dbd, i split my time almost evenly between survivor/killer and she's awful from a survivors POV as well. I've been playing mostly survivor during the Halloween event and I've played against all of 2(!) nurse's. All 4 of us escaped both times. The second trial the nurse only landed two hits. There were no thrilling chases or edge-of-my-seat moments. It was sad. We powered up the exit gates and walked out. Playing survivor is occasionally frustrating with campers and tunnelers but being spoon fed a victory doesn't feel great either.
And before anyone dismisses this as yet another bitching at the dev's post, it's not. I love dbd. I bought a rift pass to support the dev's. I purchase auric cells whenever I see a cool new cosmetic I want. I own all the DLC, survivors and killers. I help new players escape as survivor and might "accidentally" lose them after an exciting chase as killer. I'm not bitching I'm just trying to understand.
Long post so I'll end it here I guess. I'll try another couple trials as nurse but I'm not really looking forward to it. Just a couple final questions for my fellow dbd fans if you don't mind?
Killers- do you enjoy playing as the new nurse? If so, why? Am I missing some hidden potential here?
Survivors- do you enjoy playing against the new nurse? If so, why? When you play does she feel like a threat?
Dev's- will the nurse be readjusted if her fun factor is lacking? Are you currently ok with where she sits now?
I'd appreciate any input or thoughts from anyone. See you in the fog😀

The new Nurse is not fun to play as. I used to find playing no add-ons Nurse on PS4 a fun challenge. I was proud when I could get my BBQ 4-stack. Now, she's not fun at all. The power bar makes for a miserable experience. If I'm looking at the power bar more than I'm looking at survivors, and still messing up the timing for blinking, then I might as well go afk and do something else. I'm not gonna play if it's not fun. Video games are for fun.

The devs only cared for what they could get away with..they never really considered how it would feel to play the killer because most of the devs never even play her..we have the one with little to no experiance dictating how she functions so it was doomed to be bad the moment they decided on changing her base

That is your mistake number 1. You should only go for recharge time, range and maybe Jenner's Last Breath as add-ons when you actually play to win and not to meme.

Nah, I don't play Nurse as much anymore. Just isn't the same.
I suggested that the devs hold off on the base kit changes and see how the add-on rework affected the stats.
Didn't happen though.
Not to mention, the PTB was awful considering how much rubberbanding was going on. Still, the changes went live lol.

If survivors can escape from you by running in a straight line, you're doing something wrong. That's the only time it's easy to catch anyone. Looping is where her change hits hard. She's too slow to get around the loop, and the recharge allows them to continue the loop.

@FriendlyKiller Thank you for being honest about the new nurse. Most people are just happy about the place she is now and don't take into account the real thing at all.
All you described is true. She's unfun, barely playable and definitely not up to survivors level. Anyone that tried her in rank 1 know that she can't reduce the gap between survivors, and they don't even need to be very skilled.. as you said it's more easy to know where she is landing now and waiting for the tp cooldown + getting fatigue it's too much.
It really feels that the devs don't play their game when they come up with changes like this.

Do I still play her? Yes. Is she half as fun and twice as frustrating? Yes. I keep going back to this, but I think the rework was a misguided attempt to build in counterplay for the survivors who don't know or can't utilize the counterplay in the first place. Good survivors were breaking line of sight during fatigue when possible already. If a LOS break wasn't available, that wasn't a Nurse problem. Her add ons were admittedly ridiculous, I'm not arguing that. But I vehemently disagree with the mentality of nerfs over learning and utilizing counterplay that already exists. Because now she has a ridiculous amount of counterplay available for high level survivors to utilize. You're going to show her location prior to landing AND give her a cooldown? She already inhaled and pointed to where she would blink. And the cooldown has put her map pressure on par with an M1 killer with worse ability to find survivors due to walking at 96% on cooldown. It's really bad. Just my opinion as a Nurse player before and after the rework. I don't believe they totally understood the domino effect a cooldown would have on her overall. The identity of Nurse was a hyper aggressive offensive killer, and these changes have turned her into a clunky hybrid resource management...thing. This isn't Nurse.

To be honest this was to be expected.
Her power just allowed too much stuff, the change was unfortunately needed for the health of the game.

So almost every nurse players have the same experience with her.. which is not fun and frustrating.
It's not even fun versing nurse too.. if i juke and lose the nurse, it doesn't feel like it is due to my skill, but feels like the killer is crippled
So devs.. what are you gonna do to her now?

I honestly don't think I've played against a single Nurse since the rework. I'm starting to understand why.

Playing against new Nurse is like watching a crippled old dog trying to do something and failing repeatedly. Its not fun or entertaining, its just sad.
How BHVR thought this was a good idea baffles me and it only serves as a living testament that you should never expect BHVR to properly balance this game.

The biggest problem the nurse has right now is that she IS loopable!
YES you read correct LOOPABLE! But not around some small structures, NO! Around the whole map! I played her without addons at all and when i got a hit that survivor would run the whole map in circles and I could not reach him, especially when I tried to cut the corner his SWF told him to turn back! What a sick skill! Pressing W to prevent a killer from hitting you at all!
Even both recharge addons do help very minimal! On some maps with no visual on survivor (only scratch marks) its not possible to get the survivor consistent especially with bugged stuff on the map that makes you teleport in place for no reason!
And dead hard is so OVERPOWERED against her! Its so much work to get a survivor who just presses W and then he gets a second chance! Horrible design! A proof that devs dont know what they are doing! I am not an expert myself, but this game has to many flaws that devs just ignore and now they even create more.

Lol sad but true. Shes not faster than a crippled turtle. I really pass from playing her until they revert something, shes more stressing to play than before but this time without a reward, you just watch them run, while looking at the floor and waiting for the cooldown to recharge blinks.

A agree. I posted a thread about why they change her base kit a week ago(simply because they ran out of idea for her add-ons)

I extremely agree with this, all of her addons now are very weird and don't fit her at all.

I wouldn't have minded if they made it so that each blink decreased your visibility slightly until the fatigue. It would make tracking survivors a bit harder while blinking but she would still be powerful.

Sometimes i wonder if they just take random ideas from the forum and use them for "balancing" the game
Like someone suggesting "nurse should not be able to blink through walls" as a joke, but devs really took the idea and made an ultra rare add-ons... LOL
Ultra rare add-ons are supposed to be the best and borderline op add-ons, and yet look at nurse..Those add-ons hurts her more than benefits...
I guess the 4.6 ms after lethal blink add-ons are also from "feedbacks" from the forum

Nurse us garbage now. Unfun and no threat anymore. Her basekit change was just to much. Before the nerf EVERY survivor was respecting the nurse. Noone was trying to bully flashlight click a p3 nurse or trying to do 360s cuz why not. No, survivors were afraid. Survivors actually tryharded, they rushed the gens asap, tried to pull out the most confusing and unpredictable LoS jukes and actually tried to be stealthy in some situations.
But now??? Lol, I don't respect any nurse anymore (with respecting I mean being afraid). I actually reveal myself to the nurse cuz I know she can't catch me. I will run her forever. I don't have to sweat or be unpredictable. I just run in straight line and all she can do is watching me with her slow movement speed and has to wait for her blinks to recharge everytime. And once the nurse closed distance to me I just run into a jungle gym, between trees, into a main building and simple create more distance again by LoS blocking and then I continue running in a straight line back to the other side if the map where the chase started.
It's braindead and I can't take it serious anymore. Nurse is dead. Noone plays her anymore. And the times someone decides to pick nurse against me they will regret it a lot.
Even Gammalunatic, a fogwhisperer, Nurse main with legacy p3, has the highest score in dbd scoreboard (most sacrifices, most blink attacks, most bp earned) and we'll over 7k hours dbd experience quitted playing Nurse and called her a dead case.
Like, what else is needed to show that the basekit nerf is overkill?

I mean it was kinda possible to do the big map wide loops against old Nurse (as long no omegablink addons was in place and the map had a decent amount of LoS all over the place) but now you don't need even need that. Just run in a straight line and use LoS blocks once she is to close. Piss ez to outrun.

Honestly I don't understand why they changed the nurse in the first place. I never really played her as she just wasn't my thing, but I never really felt she was unfair when I went against her either. There are less than a handful of killers I find just plain annoying to go against simply because I see their power set as something that could've been done better, like Myers. In my honest opinion the survivors that rallied against her for being "unfair" just didn't know how to play against her, and now when I see her I sigh because I miss the tension she brought. It sucks... Apparently they're looking at The Spirit next. I don't understand that either.

Honestly, she's super stressful atm, but managaeable. The base nerf was definitly a wrong decision by BHVR, but with CD addons she still dominates.

Yo my friend said that he had to adjust to the new timing, it took him like 10hrs to get the new muscle memory down to land his hits correctly.

The addin that increases her speed after a lethal hit (but disables her blink) feels like such a waste.
You give up so much map pressure and ability to juggle by disabling your power - having regular speed just doesn't justify that handicap.

Fiy, use it in combination with Bad Mans last breath on indoor maps. If you hit up M&A the confusion is complete. It's, in my opinion, the best use and combination of spasmodic.

I'm a main nurse, the old has to be reworked in some points, the new is horrible to play.
Without add-on which reduce the cooldown she is just unplayable, with them this is possible but sickingly hard and stressful to play. Because they will obviously let the time to the survivor to brain you if your blinks aren't everytime perfect.
I sometimes do incredible games, and feel like the nurse is still alive. But my good games are burning in a fire of bad games.... Which is always stronger.
I feel like I have 10 hours on her while I have 1000. You described all in your post. She was a queen, the queen is dead. This is a tragedy.

I love her as hell, really she is by far my favourite killer. I never found a killer for who I had so much love. But now she is just terrible, that make me sad at a point you cannot imagine, my heart is broken when I see what they have done to her... They were a million way to modificate her in a less annoying way.
This nerf is only made for survivors, again devs don't care about the fun of killers and destroy them one by one for the pleasure of sweet survivors...

It's funny that her rework literally made all of her main's disappear. I haven't seen a Nurse in quite a while. As a former Nurse main I stopped using her because she feels too punishing to play as and the devs practically slapped a CD on to her main sources of movement

And ironic half of the reason for it, to make some useless addons actually useful, ended up creating just as many addons that aren't useful as before :/
