After watching the new trailer there are three significant hints to the new killers identity. First and foremost is the yamako estate setting which I can see as a diversion away from the truth. We only see this setting because that is where the oni mask is located.
The oni mask can signify a ogre or troll character, more so, a demon killer, something I thought bhvr was a little stand offish to do. It can signify the spirits dad has a play here somewhere but this is so obvious that it seems less likely.
The second hint is the blood going in reverse which means reanimation. Something that was dead is coming back to life. Which points again to the spirits father or something that has a power associated with blood.
And last the flames go up signifying that the oni has sucked up enough blood and is now awake.
It could also be 100% a diversion because it's a oni mask which can be so closely associated with a troll.
It's just so hard to speculate with the only info given makes the guesses so blatantly obvious.

Rins father didn't die though after what happened that we know so reanimation for him isn't going to happen, but the mother was dead, maybe it's her mum?

Or it just be something that feeds off of blood. The voice line at the beginning brings us right back to the tragic night of spirits demise. Something that feeds on tragedy perhaps.

I would definitely be on board with this! Not sure if you've seen it, but in Teen Wolf they had their own version of Oni and they were so creepy. I loved them. If you haven't watched, check out clips of them on YouTube. They were really cool.

I'm pretty sure they're making Rin a survivor and using her dad as a killer now. The teaser showed the blood and carnage getting sucked back in meaning turning back time. She won't be killed, instead the entity will take her and her father before it happens. That's the change we're getting to the Spirit. She won't be a killer anymore. Thanks to everyone who complained.
