The exclusive Event & Ultra Rare cosmetics should be sold in the store, not given to all players.
They should put the Event and Ultra Rare cosmetics in the store, just like they do with other exclusive cosmetics like the Hallowed Blight outfits and the Rift cosmetics. This way everyone gets an opportunity to get these cosmetics, but it doesn't completely undercut players that have already gone out of their ways to get them.
EDIT: After talking with you lovely people about this, I have changed my opinion a bit. I think they should give all the Ultra Rare cosmetics for free, but at the cost of reducing their rarity to either Rare or lower. But the Event cosmetics should still be put into the Store.

Then you'd be pissy that they were in the store and that BHVR is trying to just make more money and scam their players.
22 -
Well I like The Idea of getting free cosmetics. But I do feel kinda bad for people who got them with the codes and ######### like that. But hey more free cosmetics for people who had't got them yet.
4 -
Being sold separately by shady code sellers is not being sold in the store by BHVR.
1 -
Basically this.
And I doubt that people would argue any different when someone has to pay 10 Dollar for his Golden Feng Min instead of getting it for free.
2 -
???? Where was code selling brought up in any of this? We're talking about the in-game store here, code selling is irrelevent here.
2 -
Exactly.
Hell, I feel there would have been MORE pushback and complaints about selling them than the "all free" approach they decided on.
1 -
I love how people complain the dev's are putting too many expensive cosmetics in the store and they just they're just shilling for money rather than fixing the game and when they finally give people free cosmetics because insidious tactics that were taken advantage of people and consoles being excluded you cry just put it in the store
2 -
Why would I be pissy about getting the exact thing I'm arguing for?
Don't misunderstand me, as a console player I'm happy to be able to get these Ultra Rare cosmetics, but it doesn't change the fact that people have previously grinded and paid literally hundreds of dollars for. They should be put into the Store with a price tag so that everyone can purchase them, but the people who already own the cosmetics aren't being jipped.

Why do you even care how will other people get these skins?
1 -
scam? selling skin is major part of games now
1 -
Of course people like free stuff, I'm not going to be mad if I get an Ultra Rare cosmetic that was previously worth $200+, but what's fair is different. Also, if the Dev's decided to put the Golden Feng outfit in the Store at the Very Rare price (Since the Dev's generally don't go over this price), it would only cost 720 Auric Cells.

I brought this up because people actually paid $200+ with real cash for some of these cosmetics. I understand it wasn't BHVR's intention, but it doesn't change the fact this still happening. Just giving all players these outfits completely spits in the face of those people. And I'm not even talking about the Event outfits here.
I understand that free stuff is great and all, but other than "Free good", there is no argument, while on the other hand, I have many reasons.

They are giving us the cosmetics free to piss off the scammers
0 -
I would bet money that if no one had brought up the free opinion, no one would be talking about this. It's a reason problem that the Dev's are giving away cosmetics that people actually worked for via in-game time or actual physical currency.
I get it, "Free stuff good", but before the Dev's made this Developer Update, people had to actually struggle to get these cosmetics, and giving them away opens the question on wether everyone should be given Legacy or even Bloody cosmetics for free, because the argument I'm using for these cosmetics is the same argument for those.

I've never complained about the Dev's pricing of cosmetics in the Store. In fact, I think they're extremely fair compared to other multiplayer games that'll charge you upwards of $12 for an outfit. Also I get it, "Free stuff good", but before the Dev's made this Developer Update, people had to actually struggle to get these cosmetics, and giving them away opens the question on whether everyone should just be given Legacy or even Bloody cosmetics for free too. Are you in favor of giving away Legacy and Bloody outfits too? Because if you aren't, then how are these Events and Ultra Rare cosmetics different? because they aren't.

I bought S.F Claudette + Street Meg 2 years ago with 30$ from a site. I'm not that mad at devs because of what they are doing. I would love playing with golden feng min xd
0 -
Because before Update 3.4.0, you had to actually work for them.
0 -
I'm sorry but the only thing that could be debatably referred to as a struggle was the event cosmetics and even then it wasn't that much of a grind.
0 -
I'd be in favor of that too. I genuinely don't care how they sell them, but I think just giving them away is ridiculous.
0 -
They could put them in the Store too at a much, MUCH smaller price so that at least the people who previously obtained these outfits aren't completely jipped.
0 -
Even the Hallowed & Withering Blight cosmetics, which were free from an event you must purchase from the Store. Why shouldn't these Event cosmetics get the same treatment? Other then the, "Yay, fee stuff!", argument.
0 -
I'm very glad that everyone will have a chance to purchase these outfits, they just should be behind some kinda price. Whether they're purchasable in Iridescent Shards and how expensive they are in Auric Cells doesn't matter to me, I only take problem in them basically completely killing their previous value.
0 -
It's because they want to avoid making the people pay for the event cosmetics they lost. I remember Peanits specifically said that.
0 -
Yeah, but I don't wanna spend real money to buy some cosmetics....
0 -
Link?
0 -
Let me guess, you paid for your cosmetics, and you are salty and want everyone else to pay as well?
1 -
Well image spending almost $200 dollars worth of real money for a cosmetic just to then make that money meaningless.
If they actually put these cosmetics in the Store, I don't see why the wouldn't make them available in Iridescent Shards too.

People who earned Lunar Event cosmetics on console look at it as PC player's who have legacy cosmetics, I hope they at least give the free cosmetics a different variation, and for people saying the dev's did not say these were to be exclusive they did until the year before last Halloween Blight they were exclusive but jealousy can be a powerful motivator. Also people paid 300 or even 500 hundred dollars for they black David hound coat and that's completely just throwing their money down the drain when they paid this money to get these limited edition cosmetics it's a slap in the face.
0 -
No, I'm a console player. I actually only have the Event outfits. I just know how jipped people who bought the Ultra Rare cosmetics feel.
0 -
Well for starters you have to be pretty rich if you spent $200 bucks on 2-4 cosmetic pieces...
secondly they don't want to have scammers around anymore, making it iridescent doesn't mean anything as its a huge grind for people to get them who have other things to do than play this game

I can't give a direct link it's in one of the dozens of posts about these cosmetics. Just look for the community manager tab and read through all those.

Work how? All you had to do is play the game. Occasionally selecting a different gen or hook during those events isn't what I'd call work. That's for event clothes.
And for those ultra rares you just had to be lucky to be in the right place at the right time to recieve a code. That requires luck, not work.
Alternatively you could buy one from a reseller, but that's just a scam. Anyway that took money but no effort.
So what work did it require?
1 -
Hey, if I can spent $99.99 on chicken nuggets, only for that to be made meaningless by $1.50 chicken nuggets, then cosmetics bought off the secondary market for $200 can be made meaningless by giving them away for free.

*Me reading this*
STIR UP THEM FRYERS CAUSE I AM SURE HUNGRY

I could agree to the Event cosmetics going into the store. It would be in align with current event items. I'm sure people would of been fine with it as long as you could pay in shards. It's too late now though. They already announced they will be free and going back on that would cause an even larger 💩 storm and maybe even media attention.
As for code based cosmetic, they were technically free by showing up to BHVRs booth at Expos. Those codes were often handed out for free at other times as well, so I have no problem with them being given to everyone now. I do own several pieces already.
0 -
Well remember that most of these cosmetics aren't full outfits, meaning if they charge you the Very Rare price for the cosmetics, than you will only need to pay 7,200 Iridescent Shards. I'm actually trying to buy a Very Rare Spirit katana with just Iridescent Shards.
0 -
I... Actually agree. I think they should reduce the rarity of the Ultra Rare cosmetics to Rare or less (Since to be fair, design wise they shouldn't be higher than that anyways) and just put the Event cosmetics in the Store for a price.
0 -
To be honest I'm not too fussed with what they do with the event cosmetics I care more that the code base cosmetics are available to everybody
0 -
Who cares? Free cosmetics isn't hurting anyone except the scammers selling fake codes
