Why was hook smacking removed?
Legit I die attempting to bait the killer. Chainsaw, perfect bait, 2+ meters away. What happens? Chainsaw goes through the hook and downs me. Can have that back please?

It's hit or miss whether you or the other person gets hit. I'm not sure if hook smacking had anything to do with it.
I miss it, but for another reason- I like hitting people on hook sometimes.

It was removed because people were sick of being made to hit the invincible person and forced into a cooldown, which guaranteed that two survivors escape if the rescuer has borrowed time and is healthy.
No, you’re not getting it back. It was worse than the pallet vacuum. If the Killer is near a hooked survivor, don’t be a dumbass and bumrush it expecting to get the rescue handed to you.

Removing the hook smacking removed the survivors hitbox on the hook. It's now just an object. But since this game has AimAssist, it automatically locks on the survivor behind the hook. It was never a thing before.

Pls leave me alone with your killer bias, thanks.

I think they still hit the person on the hook but they just don't scream anymore. I could be wrong though.

I liked hooksmacking as killer because I could bm the survivor on hook and make them scream.
1 -
Ikr? It had benefits for both sides. Ability to punish hardcore campers but also bm toxic survivors

Smacking on the hook is still a thing the survivor literally just doesn't scream anymore so if you got hit with the chainsaw it's because your bait wasn't as good as you think it was

No, the hitbox of the hooked survivor is replaced with a normal object hitbox + the cooldown is much reduced.

Just don't unhook if the killer is there and it's not a problem.

It can still work, but it's less effective as the killer might get somewhat aim assisted onto you, and even if they do hit the hooked survivor they're not a survivor in the eyes of the game, but just a piece of wood. So the killer just gets the shorter little recoil animation as opposed to the full weapon-wiping animation.

Just play killers who can tbag now

So we just made camping stronger by removing the only counterplay for it and we just "accept" that? Nice logic mate.

Is there any video evidence of this? Cause I sure seem to be hitting the invincible person a lot when I'm at a distance where I need to rush it.
0 -
I can try to record that next time and link it.

Is this not a thing on console? I still never have any idea where to aim or what to do when somebody is unhooking right in front of my face. It seems like a total crapshoot whether I hit the person still on the hook or the rescuer. Like at what point am I supposed to attack, and is it only guaranteed if the rescuer is directly between me and the hooked person?

This isn’t a compelling argument.
Simply saying your a killer sided player is no excuse to deny or invalidate their argument.
Similar to saying git gud.

Camping is already countered by doing gens. I was thinking more along the lines of survivors rushing hooks when the killer hasn't even left yet because they have BT.

"For example, you could run Franklins and force the item they had out of their hand even on the hook."
That was patched out a long time ago.

I highly doubt hook smacking was removed as it is far more likely that what is happening is that the killer is seeing people in certain places and the survivors are both seeing everyone in alternate places due to individual latency in connection with dedicated servers. So the server is trying to resolve the swing and just happens to be hitting the unhooking survivor instead of the one on the hook. It is similar to how killers get hits around corners or through windows that from the survivor's perspective shouldn't have hit. Also for the record it has been stated before that there is no aim assist or auto aim. What is happening is that when the killer swings the game identifies what is in the attack cone and an algorithm determines what the hit connects with. Whatever you hit is what was in your attack cone when you swung, if it doesn't appear that way to you then adjust for latency.

I really do miss getting chopped in half by Leatherface on the hook.

Well damn it, when are they going to implement this on console? I always seem to smack the invulnerable person getting unhooked instead of the rescuer.

The man had a point tho even if the way he said it came out way to bias.

To make the game even easier for crybaby killers

I know I've chainsawed people on the hook while the other person saved so they both escape. This was maybe last night or the night before. I guess I could have hit something else but I doubt it. I've also gone through the hooked survivor too, so that's why I responded the way I did. Maybe someone can test it in a KYF to see if it happens consistently.

Literally just recorded this today.
As I said your bait wasn't as good as you think it was

Pls leave others alone with your survivor bias, thanks.

You are aware that pc is running on dedicated servers unlike Xbox? Educate yourself first before trying to act like a smartass, otherwise you might look like fool

That's a problem with dedicated servers not removing the hitbox.
Just like dedicated servers have caused a lot of issues for Killers powers not working properly.
So it kind of makes your post pointless because they didn't remove anything if that's the case.

But you seem to forget that a while back the hook smacking was still possible even with dedicated servers activated. I think it was during the beggining of the 2nd test phase
0 -
Considering it's not in the patch notes as a change then it's a bug as a result of dedicated servers and my point still stands especially if it started during the second phase of testing

If you make a discussion post on the forums, expect to get handed facts and discussions about the topic. I’m not biased - I don’t even play the game anymore. But I still know what dumb ######### exists in it and whether or why it should get removed.
This should have been removed ages ago. It reduces toxicity (players smacking hooked victims), teaches new players that it doesn’t work (a lot of newbies repeatedly attack a hooked victim without realising that its doing nothing), and forces Survivors to be less brain-dead (baiting hook hits for free rescues) and to be tactical about it.
If you can’t accept the truth and prefer to call it bias, I highly recommend you just stop using the forums entirely. We’re living, breathing, and thinking human beings who do play or have played the game and have our own opinions and knowledge on the topics - we aren’t your echo chamber.

You know,
It may of been removed by mistake.

Take this with grain of salt.
Fixed an issue that caused Killers to perform an obstruction hit when hitting Survivors on a hook on dedicated servers.
🤣🤣🤣

If you think about it, it's a killer buff since you won't hit the hooked survivor by accident anymore.
And let's be honest, hook smacking was only really used for BM haha.
