Blindness Needs Some Love (+Solutions)
Blindness:
-Removes the survivors' ability to see auras.
-Removes the survivors' ability to hear the killer's terror radius.
-Detection perks such as spine chill will be disabled whenever you have this status effect on you.
I think this would make the blindness status effect more of a threat other than... I can't see my auras... Oh no whatever can I do!
SUGGESTIONS FROM THE COMMUNITY:
@Peanits
Basically he want more perks that can apply blindness to every survivor such as one example he made here:
"An obsession perk that applies blinding to everyone for 30/60/90 seconds whenever the obsession is downed. This means any time they obsession goes down, nobody can see where they are or where they're hooked. Once the blindness wears off, they will be in phase 2. This gives everyone a shorter window to save the survivor unless the search the map to find the hook (which even if that happens, this means they aren'tworking on generators and this also gives you another opportunity to apply the blindness)."
^He just spit balled some ideas and this is one of them so don't get upset if this is too weak or strong^
@M2Fream
He basically had a different rework for blindness, what do you guys think?
"Blindness should do the following
- No auras, even ones thaf do not require perks, such as hooked survivors, dying survivors, and yes, jigsaw boxes
- Make the players screen darker and add more mist only client side for them
- No red stain vision"
@White_Owl
Basically he wants blindness to reduce the survivors' FOV, what do you guys think of this opinion?
"What if blindness reduces survivors' FOV?"

Could be decent, tho, as a matter of fact, the Third Seal is unnefficient, Blindness add-ons are usually short, and since they want to expand solo player's reading closer to SWF's ones, I doubt it's gonna happen.
Yet another interesting mecanic left for dead, along with a lot of them (RIP Sabo)

I feel like if the blindness status effect ACTUALLY blinded your senses into not knowing where the killer is at... It could be worth it. Additionally killer's like Huntress can use her blindness add-ons in a mind game since you'll never know where she will be.Runiver said:Could be decent, tho, as a matter of fact, the Third Seal is unnefficient, Blindness add-ons are usually short, and since they want to expand solo player's reading closer to SWF's ones, I doubt it's gonna happen.

I think blindness add-ons should work like flashlight blinds.1

I think blindness is actually pretty good in certain situations already. The problem in my eyes is that it's not easy enough to apply it and keep it applied in order to take advantage of it. You really need to have blindness active on all players at once to get the full effect, because if one person can see where someone's hooked/downed, they can still very easily save them (or share that info with the friends).
Currently the only ways to apply blindness are through a couple add-ons here and there, or through Third Seal. None of the add-ons do not last long enough to apply it to all survivors, and Third Seal is a hex perk, meaning you have to hit all four survivors and keep the hex totem up (little more do-able, still not very practical).
What I'd like to see is a way to apply blindness to everyone at the same time, even if it is only for a limited time. Just spitballing some ideas here:
- An obsession perk that applies blinding to everyone for 30/60/90 seconds whenever the obsession is downed. This means any time they obsession goes down, nobody can see where they are or where they're hooked. Once the blindness wears off, they will be in phase 2. This gives everyone a shorter window to save the survivor unless the search the map to find the hook (which even if that happens, this means they aren't working on generators and this also gives you another opportunity to apply the blindness).
- Another obsession perk (one or the other, wouldn't want both of these to happen at once) that applies blindness as long as the obsession is injured (not dying). While injured, the obsession is broken and cannot self heal without a medkit. Possibly slower heal on the obsession as well, to make it harder to remove. Sorta' sticking with the third seal idea, but making it so everyone is affected. Instead of a totem, it's the obsession. This would encourage the other survivors to try to find the obsession so they can see again.
- A perk that blinds survivors whenever a generator is powered for 30/45/60 seconds whenever a generator is powered. Go fast, go blind, good luck with unhooks. This would sorta' encourage you to slow down a little. Otherwise, you'll have to search the entire map to find where someone is hooked/downed, which would still slow things down either way.
You get the gist of it. Applying blindness to everyone is amazing, especially on hook where time spent searching is time spent bleeding out and not doing generators. Applying blindness to some people is pretty much useless.

I like your ideas @Peanits but wouldn't the hook bubble animation appear? That would ruin the idea of the survivors trying to look for the hooked survivor wouldn't it?Peanits said:I think blindness is actually pretty good in certain situations already. See, this right here would make blindness that much more threatening! Great idea @M2Fream!M2Fream said:Blindness should do the following

As dark as freddies basement view. The only reason i know my way out of the basement is cos i know the placement of things. But even then it is really hard down there as freddy. It sucks and is a major hindrence.

What if blindness reduces survivors' FOV?

What if blindness reduces survivors' FOV?Given that the survivor camera is already third person, it would have a pretty negligible effect. The pulled back camera shows more around you, which is why typically FOV issues are more noticeable in first person games. Beyond that, a tighter FOV wouldn't have an effect on survivor gameplay, it would just be a minor annoyance. It's a big deal for killers because having a really wide FOV could be advantageous and help you track/find people, but for survivors, there's significantly less focus on detecting stuff.

I guess he meant puting survivor into 1st person mode

No that would take too much work (mostly animation-wise) for just one perk. I meant more like obscuring the edges of the screen or something similar.
I don't think it would be a minor annoyance since their strongest tool against killers is their 3rd person view which gives them a very big fov. As a survivor I often find myself using the edges of my screen to keep track of the killer, especially during chases. Having a lower fov means I'd need to focus more on the killer and less on my surrounding and that can lead to fatal mistakes.1 -
So far we have a few ideas that might bring blindness to a more threatening level. I'll edit my post to point out the ideas that I found others liked the most!
