How to go against the Oni. My thoughts

From what I have observed the survivors are prettymuch the "wells" for the plauge and heres why I say this... when you heal you're stationary so you're going to be dropping a bunch of blood in one area... now if you've ever cleansed by the gen youre intending to work on and the plauge comes to power up and wrecks you immediately you can see where I'm going with this....you prettymuch wanna move to an area where the Oni has to waste time to collect the blood... so moving to a completed gen to heal would be a decent idea or the rank 20 tactics of healing in a corner... you prettymuch wanna hide your blood from the oni to slow the process down... Now peanits did confirm that the blood does indeed disappear so if you do a good of hiding and the oni is busy, he may miss out on some good blood...

Tldr.... move away from objectives when healing to prevent monstrous snowball potential and waste the Onis time...

Another is to prevent the initial hit in the first place - the longer that takes the longer it takes for him to gain his power to possibly snowball. A hit on a healthy survivor gives him half the power bar alone, then along the way to the 2nd hit he can pick up a few orbs you drop and be ready to use it on the next find.

@S_Panda that too... hes going to struggle very hard early game for sure...

  • The floating blood orbs are fantastic for tracking. The ultra rare addon is almost like a permanent map hack once you get some momentum.

Completely in love with this killer at the moment

Oni is a pretty weak killer in the grand scheme of things.

Against decent survivors, he's going to be an M1 killer for the first few minutes of the game, leading to difficult games.

If his power did not end on Survivor pick-up, it would be super viable - as of now, barring survivor clusters, trying to down multiple people at once or leaving the area just leads to the original down being picked up by a teammate.

This slows the game down, for sure, but it really overshadows the "POWER UP FOR SUPER SPEED AND INSTADOWN!!" theme that the developers were going for.

I can see people using his power primarily for mobility as his playstyle evolves, downing anyone they get close to, and determining whether to pick them up based on time remaining/nearby survivors.

He almost seems like an inverted Legion/Plague combo.

The best counter are sprint burst, to avoid the first hit (of course you shouldn’t run dh), jumping in lockers while he has the power (in the grand scheme of things, you trade 1 down to avoid slugging), running unbreakable.
