Kill Switch update: We have temporarily Kill Switched the Forgotten Ruins Map due to an issue that causes players to become stuck in place. The Map will remain out of rotation until this is resolved.

Flavor Text

Anyone else wish that every item had flavor text that hinted at something? Kinda like all of Vigo's items (i.e.: Vigo's Shroud, Vigo's Toolkit, Rainbow Map, etc.). Hell, even the pustula flower charm references Vigo. Makes me think that the Alchemist is Vigo.

I know an item that definitely makes a not-so-subtle hint at something!

    Survivor Pudding

    ”a heavily salted pudding...”

I mean wow! It’s just too perfect!

Lol, yeah. I meant something that hints at the world within the game. Kinda like how 99% of the items in Dark Souls contain lore bits.I love the items that hint at Vigo. That combined with the Withered Blight lore (I know the event was meh) make me think that Vigo might be a killer at a later point.

Honestly, I hope Vigo doesn't become a Killer. In the lore they seem to have a LOT of power over the Fog, able to shape and bend it to their will like the Entity does.

If they become a Killer that power would have to be toned down, or they could just do whatever they wanted. Like, unspawn pallets or the Black Lock.

But if they were toned down, then they wouldn't really be Vigo anymore. It'd just be a narrative waste IMO; taking a unique and interesting character and making them more or less the same as 20 other characters.

That said, I would like to see more of the lore delivered through flavor text. As much as appreciate the Archives, the subtle and vague hints of lore are more appealing to me than the Observer's "this is what happened/is happening".

Well, my thoughts are that, if he becomes a killer, he'd be called The Alchemist, his power would be built around that somehow, and it would be that he OD'd on his serum, and it screwed him up. If his power had something to do with being able to affect the realm, it might be a creation based power rather than making things go away. His items help him keep track of his surroundings, fix things, increase his luck, and escape his enemies. Based on their item descriptions, his jar of lips implies he keeps samples of others for his experiments. His toolbox implies that he's proficient at creating things. His shroud implies he can affect the fog. And the map hints at how much he's learned about the realm.
