Legion is actually more popular at Red Ranks
According to the recently released stats Legion sees about a 1% increase in pick rate when comparing all Rank pick rates and Red Rank pick rates.
They are also more commonly picked at Red Ranks than over half the current Killer roster, including Nurse.
Is it just part of Legion's ability to cheese the Ranking system? Or are the Legionnaires more popular and powerful than we think?

Hard to say the reason behind how the stats play out. That would require a more in depth study that would be difficult to maintain as the game is in a constant state of flux. I would say more likely that its because as people play the game they buy more killers, and those people have access to Legion while the lower ranks often don't.

You have to keep in mind that Red Rank players most likely play the game for a longer time and therefore also put money into it, meaning that they will have Legion.
But brown Ranks (or even yellow Ranks) might not even have access to Legion, because they are fairly new to the game and did not spend money on getting a Killer other than those which are included in the Basegame or are popular because they are from movies.

You have to keep in mind of region as well with these stats. Legion may be popular overall, but in something like the Oceania Region (for example) you'll probably rarely see him.

Yes, but these stats indicate that Legion is a fairly popular choice at Red Ranks, almost as played as Myers who is not an unpopular or weak Killer.
Most Red Ranks probably own The Hag too, if only just for Hex: Ruin, but she is the least played Killer at Red Ranks. Legion also sees more use at Red Rank than Wraith, a character everyone has access to.
Just because Red Rank players own someone doesn't mean they'll play them. There's something special about Legion.
It'd definitely require more study to pinpoint an exact reason, but I thought it was interesting enough to warrant discussion.

This is probably true, but I'm not sure that helps explain why Legion is the 8th most popular Red Rank Killer.
Sure we have no way of knowing one way or another why they are, but I think it has more to do than just Legion being very popular or very unpopular in one region.
A Legion region doesn't explain their decently high pick rate at Red Rank.

Like everyone says, this requires a more in-depth study, but honestly the devs have better things to do 😅
But you have to keep in mind that everyone who's complaining about the Legion on social media or this forum doesn't cover the whole playerbase of Dead by daylight or the Legion Mains, and therefore doesn't represent every opinion. It's much more common to complain on the internet than appreciate, and Legion is very "complainable" and therefore food for everyone that wants to argue even though a lot of people play Legion

That's true but same would apply to any other Dlc-Character like Rin, Ghostface or Myers that are more often played than Legion

Although there are a lot of people playing Legion it doesn’t change the fact that their power is useless. That is the main complaint about Legion. Every killer has a unique power and Legion power is bleh

Yeah, a lot of people seem to come on here between matches or while angry. Everyone should take what is said on here with a grain of salt.
It's worth noting though that while Legion is popular, they do have one of the lowest Kill rates in Red Ranks.

Fair enough, but people take everyones discussion about Legion on the internet as the opinion of the majority of players in Dead by daylight, which is something else. Legion's power being not optimal doesn't mean they can't have a relatively high kill-rate with a lot of players

Can we? According to those stats he's got a higher kill rate than the Huntress and the Nurse at red ranks. I think these stats are shattering a lot of perceptions of what people like to believe versus what is reality. Our personal experiences don't always represent a majority.

People seem to think the devs have thumbs up their collective rear ends, but these folks see stats before us and make decisions based on what they see across the board. I come to this forum to see the latest news and speculate the meta, but it seems like a large portion of the posters here are fresh out of a match and willing to QQ about something.
I'd like to say that certain killers are objectively terrible, but these numbers are not that insanely polarized. There are some outliers which are a little concerning, but I don't think that the future changes that will be made are gonna be that drastic. I think that when you play only survivor, or only pick one or two killers, changes will appear to have much more gravity, and it's easy to just blame the devs. But for those that play both sides, with a larger selection of perks and killers, I think that it's easier to stomach updates.

Popularity ≠ Viable
Legion isn’t anywhere near a good killer, sure you can be a really good killer but with the lack of power, pressure, and mobility, legion isn’t the best. That being said, legion however is a really popular killer with a large fan base. The only question I have is how they somehow have a higher kill rate then huntress and nurse. What. The only answer I have is that it’s counting dc’s because trust me, even though legion was gutted, people still dc on them.

Giving up is not dc'ing. If they discounted that then Spirit's stats would likely be very different.

Reasons Legion can still be played
- You paid for the chapter
- You love the concept of the killer
- You have no choice but to deal with their current state.
With that being said I don’t like playing against or playing as Legion.
Current Legion - is just boring to play against and to play as.
As a survivor it’s almost like I know I’m going to win the match soon as I see Legion. Of course this is not true all the time. Going against competitive killers is what make the game fun.
Old Legion - Fun to play as and boring to play against.
As a survivor you knew you had no chance when it came to Legion because they could cheese the mechanics of DW
So yes, Legion does have a power but it’s useless.

their power is indeed useless against 4 men SWF groups with comms.
But these are busted, we should nerf these groups instead of buffing killers that already do well against the majority of survs.

Stalling Time and skipping half the chase is what you want in high ranks. A 1% difference is not that relevant though, a lot of killers varies by ~1% usage
