OMFG! The Oni's lore is amazing! Mori explained!
This is one of the best stories I've read in DBD!

WHY NOT ADD HIS FATHER AS A SURVIVOR WITH THE VILLAGE LORD? That would've been amazing!
And about the name... Damn, to have the killer name you hated...? That's harsh...

Imagine, you, a every day pizza boy, confront a massive hulking beast with a Kanabo.
There's this saying in Japan "Like giving a Kanabo to an Oni" or something along those lines, to give an advantage to something or someone who already has an advantage.

My problem is they go from calling him oni, to ogre, which are to completely different things. Then he uses a katana, but changes to kanabo midway through for....reasons?
They had a decent idea and kinda threw lore at the wall until they thought it looked good.

Oni (鬼) are a kind of yōkai, ogre, or troll in Japanese folklore. They are typically portrayed as hulking figures with one or more horns growing out of their heads. Stereotypically, they are conceived of as red, blue or green-colored, wearing loincloths of tiger pelt, and carrying iron kanabō clubs.
I guess he got powers from the entity to actually transform into some kind of a real Oni, and that's why when he's not enraged he stays as a samurai with a katana, but when he gets the power he enters Oni mode with the Kanabo club

So you can use Google. But not all of it. It also said ogres are brutes that feast on flesh, where obi are demons or spirits.
They mixed a bunch of ######### together just like you did, with google as a source.
Ogres are different than Oni. Does the oni lurch? Does he weigh 200lb and eat flesh? Would you classify him as, large, or giant? No. Hes humanoid, a foot or two taller, and a demon. Not an ogre.

LOL. Good sir, my google source says it's "kind of" an ogre, not at all an actual ogre, I did not intend to say you were wrong, but that you were right, they say the character complains about people calling him an ogre when they call him Oni.
But about the why he takes out a kanabo, I just believe it's cause he's NOT an Oni, but a samurai with Oni alike characteristics when he uses his rage mode
