Oni is the worst killer in the game
Legion and clown have more than this guy, I basically have no power at all and am reduced to trying to mindgame safe loops against good survivors with a basic attack and collecting blood orbs that slow me down. The power itself is an overglorified billy chainsaw but it maneuvering hardly does me any good because they nerfed the end turn range so I cant ever hit survivors in loops because they just camp wherever its safe when they see me coming. All oni is good at is nothing, he has a pallet breaking tool that takes far too long to get online with some map traversal to boot that isn't even as good as billy's chainsaw. What a pathetic waste of 5$ might as well play legion for slightly better gameplay.

I really, really hope this is a joke.

"Worst killer in the game."
I present to you: Legion.

No, after a day of playing him at red ranks he is absolute dogpoop
4 -
Just play billy, way more better. This guy have useless perks and same power of billy
4 -
Do you play on console? That's the only explanation behind this take that I can think of
8 -
Is it possible that he's just not the kind of killer that you can necessarily pick up and be brilliant at straight away?
He's been out less than 24 hours, after all. Most people don't really know what they're doing with him yet. It's more likely that the problem is with how you're playing him rather than with the design of the killer.
I played about 10 games as survivor against the Oni today at red/purple ranks. Almost all of them were 4Ks - I personally only escaped twice, and one was through the hatch out of sheer blind luck. The second time, I was the only one who escaped.
It's possible that I'm just bad at surviving against the Oni, as were all my teammates, but he doesn't seem anywhere near underpowered to me. My first impression is that he's a solid A-tier, at the very least.

lol meanwhile i have 4k with him 4 times in a row in R1 on console. all i can say is GET GOOD because comparing him to trapper, legion, and clown he is definitely better.
4 -
I am so confused....is he good on console or not?.....
2 -
He really isnt
1 -
Learn him a bit more, he is a better billy
2 -
Definitely good on console!!

I uhhh... What? Oni walks the mists like a God amongst men; I'm not sure how you've failed to grasp that. Saying he's worse than Bubba, Clown, Doc, Wraith, Legion, Demo, and Trapper? That blows my mind.
(Insert joke about Tru3 and Wraith being top 4 killers)
5 -
I haven't tried him yet but he looks way better than the low-tier club lifemembers known here (legion, clown, new nurse)
Got some hard time yesterday night as a survivor against him already.

Can you please explain how you manage to be worse on a killer with build in tracking via blood orbs, Instant down, pallet shred and map mobility is worse than clown or legion?
He either definitely don't fit your playstyle or you didn't figured out yet what perks to use and what's his playstyle.
5 -
Or maybe OP is a troll ?
2 -
That is very wrong, Oni can run into walls and not get stunned, unlike Billy who hitting a wall stuns him
2 -
Console? If yes: play PC. If not: youre bad.
1 -
he looks like top tier killer to me, if not that high tier most probably time will tell
1 -
I played the oni a lot yesterday. I had bad matches and good matches, he's fun and I think he's strong. You just need to learn him
1 -
He's not even been out for 24 hours yet...
2 -
He's still pretty good with console controls, obviously not as good as on PC. It's similar to the Nurse on console situation, but not nearly as bad.
Going off of this, give it some time, Oni came out yesterday and is one of the harder killers to get a grasp of. Give it some time, get used to Demon Strike and Demon Dash, get to know the best time to use Blood Fury, get some good perks on him that compliment his power, ect.

I love what you put on every thread I’ve seen.

Aw, thank you! I appreciate the support 😊 ❤️
3 -
I mean he isnt top 4 but he is still very underrated
1 -
That's what they said about spirit when she came out.
7 -
I've been playing him for hours in red rank, and he is a very good killer. He is on par with Billy in power. I think you simply need more practice with him, he isn't a "pick up and kill" killer.
And just objectively Legion and Bubba are way worse killers. Neither have any map pressure which Demon Dash give Oni.

I'd say he is top 4, he's in a perfect tie with Billy IMO.
1 -
Hmmm i do see him being strong with the right build

On console he's bad. If you go against anyone who isn't a complete potato, you're going to get looped to oblivion until you get your power, and even after you get your power you still going to get looped.
0 -
I rate Trapper pretty high if you know what your doing xD.
1 -
Thanks - its all a lot clearer now....

IDK how he is on console to be fair, I've heard he's horrible. On PC though he's amazing.
0 -
He's not as good on console as he is on PC due to hardware limitations.
He's also far from completely useless on console, as many console players who've managed to do well with him in spite of not being able to "flick" easily can attest.
2 -
He's not, although he's a lot worse to play on console due to the same restriction as Nurse and Huntress

Do you think they should have taken a bit more time and care and done a better job with him on console?

I present to you: PIG 🐷 *oink oink*

Problem: No PC
Solution: Buy PC
Problem: No money
Solution: Work at job
Problem: No job
Solution: Steal money instead
Problem: Cops are now after you
Solution: Kill cops
Conclusion: Video games indeed cause violence
I rest my case

Ideally, yes. I think it would be a good idea and would help with player retention if patches were as thoroughly tested on consoles prior to release as on PC. I do believe that the devs do their best in this regard, but they seem to often fall short as many console players feel consistently frustrated with issues that plague their platform which PC users don't have to face.
However, it's also likely that had the devs delayed the patch in order to balance for consoles, many people would have been very upset, in the same way that there were widespread complaints when the devs delayed the recent Tome I Level III challenge updates in order to test them more thoroughly before release. Or how unhappy everyone was when the release of the Archives was delayed by several weeks.
The Oni's "flick" was also never an intended feature - it's listed under "Known Issues" in the patch notes, so it should be fixed soon, and that will help to close the gap between PC and console when it comes to his abilities as a killer.

He's really bad on console in his current state. Having said that if the map has a lot of straight corridors and few obstacles dotted around then he's actually ok.
His demon strike doesn't land if on the way it grazes an obstacle and is really frustrating. You get all sorts of stuns, disorientation and cooldowns which make him unfun to play as.
When you have to play as an M1 killer when his power is ready to get a better result you know there's a problem.

Hope ur not serious

Unfortunately he will get nerfed soon.
KNOWN ISSUES
- The Oni can rotate faster than intended with the keyboard or joystick during Demon Dash.
0 -
The couple games I played with him on ps4 last night felt pretty good. The frame rate and turning during demon dash are fine.
0 -
I highly doubt he is a bad Killer. Even if he is not clicking with me at all, I attribute that to my shortcomings as opposed to the Killer's.
0 -
It's sad that this is a reasonable explanation for a killer being "bad" but it is. The controls just aren't as good as PC.

OP is a troll or just can’t find the way to play him. However, he is hard to control a dash attack because there is so many obstacles survivors can just run around and dodge. I found it best to just dash to the survivor and if there is a slight chance of missing I don’t attack I just stop dashing and now I’ve closed the gap between the survivor and I. Now I can go for a 0.1 second charge attack for the 1 hit down. If anything to me he’s more of a Myers with a mobility of hillbilly.

I am really struggling with Oni on console right now. I played about 10 to 15 games last night and consistently deranked. The main problem: I can't hit demon strike consistently to save my life. Even with the sensitivity cranked all the way up, I can't flick nearly as far as people on PC can. Not to mention charging the attack takes up half the screen and optimization/FPS seems to get worse with every update. If the survivor jukes slightly or runs small loops, I am completely helpless until my power is up. I feel like I am better off playing him as an M1 killer with moderately better tracking.
