Why So Many SWF!?

Like damn, can't the crap players play with the crap players for once? Nooooo Let's have a swf of 1 red rank with the rest being bloody GREEN. I'm a green rank, I shouldn't have to deal with this bull. It's impossible for me and most likely many others because you have a somewhat good team with a cocky little red rank who thinks they're king of the damn world.

And then they have the balls to talk trash after, like seriously??

Yeah, it sucks... What amazes me more is that those guys really do enjoy waiting several minutes for a lobby to rush the s out of the killer and leaving with no effort in less than 5 minutes. Really, what is fun about playing like this? I don't know...

You know the matchmaking bases the rank on the highest ranked survivor in the lobby, rather than the average rank of the group (it use to be based on the average rank). If you're a green rank and killer you're getting red rank survivors then that's the matchmaking problem, not the SWF using their lower ranked friends to manipulate the match making.

Personally in my opinion, since the match making change I think SWF isn't as strong as it was. As a red rank killer what would you rather face; one red rank survivor with three low ranked survivors on comms or four red rank survivors without comms?

i like swf if it’s just a duo. easy to get lobbies and not too much communication (so it’s fair).

i enjoy playing with 1 friend.

Because it's fun to play with your friends. You act as if only SWF players are toxic. This is not the case.

@Hex_Stalk btw why do you think rank means anything? since survivors are literally pushed to red rank because how easy it is to pip as surv

but 1st things 1st SWF is looking for killer around HIGHEST rank surv in that SWF and if youre getting this kind of lobbies that means there is not enough red rank killers because they have equal amount of red rank survs + they get a lot survs from other ranks because of change in SWF MM system

2nd yea lets just tell someone you cant play with your IRL friend because baby killer might feel bad, do you know you can just ignore that 1 red rank surv??? its not like 2 friends HAVE TO be equally good in game xd i have some friends that dont play dbd enough to negate rank reset and im in red rank, so youre telling me i cant play with my IRL friends because they dont play DBD enough in month? (btw all of us are 1000h+ and im at red and they are in R15)

All my expriences with swfs are negative, and I can understand op over this

A swf can abuse a killer if they want since they are all connected in a game where they shouldn't

Do you know for sure they are SWF all the time?

I solo most of the time, and killers blame SWF I'd say more than 60% of the time when they lose. Even if everyone has private profiles and shows no signs of actually being in an SWF.

I think sometimes they just try and justify when they do poorly. I'm not saying SWF isn't powerful - but sometimes you just lose.

Private profiles themselves seem to be viewed as a SWF indicator by a lot of people. Even though I'm pretty sure some degree of privacy is the default setting for Steam profiles ever since they introduced the Public/Friends Only/Private system for various profile elements.

They talk to their friends saying hey guys want to go mess with sum killers. 🤓

    Pretty much, yeah.

They act as if people private their profiles for the pure sake of playing SWF in DBD. When in reality, not only is it the default Steam configuration, but when it's done manually, it's because their info is really none of anyone's business. Complaining that players private their profiles is like complaining that you don't have their online banking password.

    Agreed on all fronts.

Not to mention any level of public profile can often increase the amount of scammers (both manual and automated bots) that find you and add you to try their luck, it's not even exclusively about the privacy level of your inventory in particular. Even if you know their tricks I'd much rather let someone be paranoid over me potentially being in SWF or whatever than have to deal with more of that sort of trash 😄

Oh yea no doubt about that

Most of the time i can clearly tell it's a swf, but other times I can't tell a it's a swf, it all depends of how they play for me to assume

You also have to keep in mind, the game has been out nearly 4 years. A natural progression of the playerbase, especially at green, purple and red ranks is going to be tighter coordination and general awareness regardless of if they are playing with friends or not. Does it even further expose the balance issues? Yes. Does it make it easy to assume someone is SWF? Yes. Are they SWF? Debatable.

I love how I get messages from killer who had 4 escape msg me complaining about my stack, and I always play solo. Killers just assume everyone is SWF when survivors escape or there's tryhard players in the game lmao

Because...people wanna play with their friends...?

Also, you do know that if there is a red/purple rank with lower rank SWFs, then the system has compensate for the increased experience and put them with a killer in the medium levels between the gaps of ranks? It's the ranking system's issue, not the survivor's problems.

And also, if you get one of those messed up lobbies with rank spread like 1-8-14-15 that's not something people can intentionally abuse in any way anymore. You could have 1-20-20-20 and matchmaking will try to matchmake based on the highest rank (rank 1), but as we all know sometimes matchmaking simply gets horribly drunk and you get really messed up matches.

Solo, killer, SWF - no matter what I play sometimes the rank spread ends up going crazy no matter the party size and rank distribution of the survivors in the lobby.

I could say the same for the amount of Ghostfaces I get.

SWF is the strongest thing in dbd. And most SEF players are toxic bad words.

I used to play SWF more. As a two man group with occasional comment in Steam chat as she and I didnt use voice comm. Then she got good and ranked up to 8 or 7 or something and I am still at R16. So yea I can still SWF and I find it a challenge to keep up at times, but I try to look at it as a learning experience. I then try to apply what I have learned from playing with more adept players into my solo matches as survivor.

My only regret is I place value on rank and on pipping up as a gauge to how well I am learning. I wish I didnt. Maybe at the end I am thinking if I could reach say rank 10 consistently I could play with her more often again.
