there is nothing they can do to stop it. so why do they lose rank ?

They got caught and sacrificed. It's unfortunate and cruel on the Killer's behalf, but they lost.
This will happen on a rare basis though so it shouldn't affect a player's rank.

They can pull off a really long chase, that leads to a loose for the killer. Probably still a black/depip for the survivor, but the killer will maybe think next time.
People complaining about such a "problem" are part of the real problem, too many potatos in red ranks.

I also think about it on the opposite side. Why does the killer lose rank when you play a game with a rush from hell?

They are talking about camping, killers still are still in red ranks camping and don't lose much. I don't understand how it's the survivors fault for being camped

Because the pip system is terribad and it's meant to promote interaction, but not necessarily fun interaction.

If survivors DC at the beginning of the game, killer depips. How is it fair?

DC is different. It's not just the killer that gets punished, the other survivors get punished by it too!

In a way it's also the survivors fault. I mean he got found, chased and hooked. If you just give the survivoe points for being hooked with a killer nearby, you just get a pip every game as survivor.

You've probably touched on why a lot survivors d/c. If you're going to lose rank with minimal points why stay? Because team mates? Please, if a game is going in that direction, there's only so much a survivor team can do.

Why do survivors gain ranks just for holding M1 and getting a couple of unhooks? The emblem system is shite.

Because its not a ranking system, but an interaction system. It measures how well you interact with others, specifically with the other side, and how well you are at stalling the game. Longer games = higher chance to pip.

Honestly though, it's really easy to rank up as Survivor compared to Killer. I've played both sides. I got to purple ranks without much real trouble as Survivor, even though my looping leaves a lot to be desired, and I died more often than not.

Even exceptional killers have a hard time ranking up. Often, nothing short of a 4K will guarantee a pip. There's a real shortage of killers in the red ranks, and it shows; I get matched with red-ranked survivors that are 4-6 ranks higher than me, very frequently.

Ah, okay. Well, in general, I still found it much easier to rank up as survivor, even against killers that 4K. It was fairly easy for me to squeak out a black pip or a pip from matches that went poorly; just do gens, do an unhook, do some heals, and stay alive as long as you can.
