Kill Switch update: We have temporarily Kill Switched the Forgotten Ruins Map due to an issue that causes players to become stuck in place. The Map will remain out of rotation until this is resolved.

ok so i finally made it to red rank and now i'm gonna take a break

i play 60/40 survivor killer

in the red ranks, there are waaaaaay too many SWF teams, which is likely how they got to red ranks, i am a solo player so i am always left on the hook or left on the ground until they save their friends,

also when you dont save them instantly they accuse you of being selfish or god forbid you die and you're useless.

on the killer side. oh boy. have a fav killer? hes good? not for long he will be made to be as weak as legion in a few months. also god forbid you try and win a game and you're a toxic killer , or a camper or a tunneler, or worse.

anyway my suggestions are as follow.

take the chat feature away permanently.

also evenly give solo survivors a group of solo survivors to play with instead of almost always SWF team of 3.

End game chat is almost always toxic. I think it would be a good idea to remove the feature. Almost never do I get a game that the survivors or killer say more than gg, and talk about how good they did.

I’m completely open to it being removed, even though I try my best to be kind at the end. Being toxic isn’t rewarding mentally, and in fact, the more you do it, the more normal your brain thinks it is to continue those behaviours.

I do agree with that too, I’ve also made a lot of friends that way. I guess maybe DbD needs a chat filter, cause having to disable all chat messages because of the stress in post game chat sounds problematic.

A chat filter would be fine. Could also have the chat feature default to being disabled / make it a toggleable setting

if I'm honest I've only been to red ranks once as killer which was pure luck and man was that possibly the least fun gaming experience

When I play as a Killer that just want to have a chill match I'd get every SWF that is just decked with tools but when I play on Survivor I'd get every potatoes in existence that I'm just baffled why these guys are in red ranks.

I do the same thing. The only reason I'm so high now is because I'm doing rift challenges.

Memorizing map tiles? Dedicating myself to a SWF or grinding a killers needed perks?

    Nah I'm good.

  • Tbh I don't think SWF is the problem, I think we just need something to make high tier games last longer.

Could be another objective to risk like, playing longer and risking death but getting much much more BP if you pull it off or something like that....

So matches are not so one sided and no nerfing is required.

The chat feature wasn't there at release. When the devs first spoke about introducing it, I said it was a bad idea.

If I have a great game with a survivor/killer I would send them a friend invite and it would go from there. Never needed the chat feature.

90% of chat is gg or you're toxic blah blah blah.

When I look at Pig or Legion I think that was the devs trying different ways to prolong games. Which hasn't really worked. I honestly think devs don't know what to do beyond 'one-shot' killers and Hex:Ruin to try keep balance and games prolonged.

The issue with that is it assumes competent survivors.

At lower tiers with new survivors this system is a trainwreck because new survivors stuggle with skill checks or finding totems and cant juke to mitigate one-shots. A new killer just needs to be competent at chasing. You regularly see 4k's and it sets killers up because they cant handle competent survivors that can juke, hence part of the whining you see on this forum.

You'll be rank 5 come reset. Don't take too long.

I'm pretty sure you can change on of the ini files to make the chat hidden by default

    That's bassicly removing it

People have solved this problem already entirely too.

Devs said they didn't want to use those ideas though not because they were not good, or wouldn't work or anything- just because they didn't like them personally. Would have solved like 5 problems all at once but noooo they would feel "It would make the game too much like other games" even though that was nonsense.

So because of their stubbornness we can expect to have this problem a long time yet.

    I feel exactly the same...

Reached red ranks for the first time 5 days ago. Been there now and kept playing the past days, but it just drains all the fun out of the game. All there is are tryhard, which is fine don't get me wrong. But as a casual player it shouldn't be this easy to get to the top of the ranks.

Like I have been focussing on Rift challenges, and even when I completly threw a match because I needed the pallet drops, I still got a pip because apperently I did well...

For me now it's either deranking back to high purple, so I enjoy playing again instead of needing to sweat every single game to even get something done.

Or just take a break and completly let DBD sit untill we've had 2 rank resets.
