Devs Stop Releasing New Content
Take some time. Sit down. Talk.
We'll wait here patiently while you get the game fixed, then you can add more problematic maps/perks/killers later when you can afford to do so.

If they don't release new content the game loses a large amount of players DLC keeps it alive not growing but alive

Why do you think players leave? DLC is duct tape over a leak while base game fix stops the leak for good. The difference is DLC gives money.

New base game stuff can be as exciting as new killers maps and perks

I wish they had the integrity to do so, but unfortunately their numbers and the precedent they've set simply don't allow for that sort of QOL decision to be made.
I believe in the AMA someone asked for this exact thing and a CM stated they are not planning to stop the quarterly DLC updates, but instead will cut down on (free) events to focus on the health of the game.
Which, as you can easily guess, is complete BS.
The true reason they will cut down on events is because:
a) They are free for the users, so while costing resources they do not provide any source of revenue.
b) They need the time to focus on their OTHER paywall content, the Rift.
I've burnt out of this game, tho it can be fun if you just don't take it too seriously and play with friends every now and then.
The entire game is built upon a foundation of toothpicks, and no matter how many DLCs and Battlepasses they release, eventually the sheer lack of quality throughout the game will be its demise. Look no further than PUBG for an example of this; some company with more resources will tap into the asymmetrical horror goldmine, do it properly and just completely blow DBD out of the water.

They are complacent because of how niche their genre is but the issue is yeah some other game will do it better. I consider it a fairly tame horror game even with mori's its very tame if a dev comes along and does it far better then yes DBD will basically bleed out.
