Bait and Switch?
Does anyone else wonder if sometimes bugs and such are deliberately left in a killer in order for them to be a fun and exciting addition to the game during the PTB and early marketing stages only to be nerfed into mediocrity a few weeks later?
If the flick was never intended, why was it left in only until after his release when players were very excited to drop cash on what used to be a universally enjoyed killer who is now simply Hillbilly #3?
I personally knew nerfs were coming and only purchased him with shards, but do any of you who purchased him with cash or cells feel a sense of bait and switch from the devs?
I'm starting to wonder since this seems to happen with every new killer.

Who's Hillbilly #2?

I think 90 degree flick is fine by what I’ve seen people coming up with countering it... is it really the whole thing?

Leatherface :)

90 degree flick is still possible according to the devs. Use the mouse, not the keys.

It might just be the dev's wanting the whole community to test the killer, and that the changes after made right before he went live, were changes that were obviously broken.

They just said no more 180 flicks.

These nerfs were unwarranted, that's the issue.

Yes, I completely agree. Everyone who enjoyed playing Oni was because of the flick. The devs knew this and decided it was in their best financial interest to not publicly declare it as a bug, but to wait until they had made a certain amount of money to then nerf it.
I unfortunately spent real money on the Oni and no longer have any desire to play him. His perks aren't too spectacular either meaning I pretty much won't be using any of the content I purchased which feels terrible.

I saw this quote after making the post as well.
I'm mostly focused on the hitting survivors through vaults and the amount of control he has now versus after the patch.
I'm speculating of course since I'm at work, but I had this thought and wanted to pose the question.

I wonder how many more people feel this way.

"Known Issues:
The Oni can rotate faster than intended with the keyboard or joystick during Demon Dash. "

They also nerfed they turn radius with the mouse

That issue was posted the day of his release. Before anyone had purchased him.

@SpaceCoconut Since Stranger Things, we have released known issues, and sometimes even future hotfix notes the day of the release of the new chapter to make sure players knew some changes will be coming.
As many people mentioned in this thread, the information was offered to players the day of the release. This change shouldn't impact PC as much, depending on how you are steering (mouse or rebinded keys).
Hope that helps.

Tbh I prefer this misleading marketing, rather than dealing with a team of incompetent that thinks that ######### like old MoM was okay. This also because I can wait, and I’m not a person who’s ready to drop cash instantly.

On console they actually buffed him since release. We were never able to do crazy turns but with the controls update he's a lot better.

The control of the flick with mouse also feels much worse now. This means using his power in loops is much less effective ultimately giving you no reason to play Oni over Billy.
1 -
Let's not say they buffed him, let's say they fixed him on console.
Btw did you already try him now?

I can agree that there is confusion about the change. I am working on trying to find information to clarify everything.

So basically you're saying that only Oni on consoles will be worse? Nice

I'm happy I bought him with shards.
Since the ST DLC I decided BHVR won't get any more of my money again until I decide they've improved on their game enough to warrant it.
Also massively relieved I never got the Legion, seeing as how terribly they've treated that product.

I am unsure how that is what I said.
A change was made for controller in the hotfix. Many people on console feel it is better now.
However, PC players are reporting the change impacted the controls on Mouse & keyboard and I want to get to the bottom of the issue with as much clarity I can get. Therefore, I am looking for answers for the community.

I'm so upset I bought him after these changes, luckily only with shards, but still that's 9k for a killer I no longer enjoy to play. His power feels terrible constricted now. They turned his degree to flick during demon dash from 90 to what feels like 10. Why play a lesser version of billy who has to "assemble" his ability first an then can't even use it anymore efficently in a chase to get a down if the survivor has more then 10hrs of experience.
And sorry to all saying "it was clearly stated in the patch notes that this was a non intended feature" I don't read every single line of every patch notes.
Guess I won't be buying any character anymore even with only shards until months after their release, if at all in the future as BHVR has shown yet again to not be trusted in this matter.

This killer is free, though?

He costs currency, whether it be shards (playtime) or cells (real money). he is not free.

Honestly the biggest problem for me is how they didn't waited to fix him during the PTB and instead released him. Now I know that every killer I buy can be nerfed days or weeks later after release.

You're right, I wasn't specific with my comment. It was referred to this part of OP's post, which seems to twist the truth a bit to fit their narrative:
"If the flick was never intended, why was it left in only until after his release when players were very excited to drop cash on what used to be a universally enjoyed killer who is now simply Hillbilly #3?"

No, I do not feel that this is bait and switch. I think it's part of a big multiplayer experience where the outcome of some new content is never fully realized until the community as a whole gets to play it.
There was a time when a game called Everquest would deliver expansions regularly and each and every time, they would need to fix/upgrade/downgrade some items and features after release because of this very thing. This is when raids could involve 100 people and even then, all issues were never caught in testing, regardless of how many uberguilds were recruited to go through the scripts on test server. Things would change for better or worse and that's just how it went. It was kind of known that content is subject to change at any time, for whatever reason. I consider this the same thing.
I'd like to think that people these days are savvy enough to read about any patches/buffs/nerfs in the many forum posts to know what they're getting into when they buy this game. Besides, I'm pretty sure it's in the EULA that BHVR can change things around at any time. That's just basic #########.

I mean it's very possible. EVERYONE watches or plays the ptb when it comes out. But it's hard to prove. Demogorgon, Spirit, and Ghostface were all buffed post-launch (if I missed any it's because I joined after the Legion chapter). The last killer I can think of to actually be nerfed after launch is plague. I didn't buy him with cells, so it's no real skin off my nose; though I could see why others wouldn't be so happy.
As a console user, seeing such flicks excited me. But on release, ours was completely lackluster. We never got to experience what you folk got, just what we could see on streams or youtube. The flick has been improved for us, which has made him easier to control. We got the short end of the stick, and were thrown a bone with his "buffs." You guys got the good stuff up front and had it removed. If anything, I'm guessing the console flick was what they intended, and they simply overlooked mouse stacking with q and e.

It affects console though before I could flick on there using camera and the other anolog side to side to guide him into hitting survivors now he is no good on console unless y’all make higher sensitivity settings on console soon

On console flick is worse then it was after the patch either that or it was buggy for me and it shouldn’t of been every game so
