The second iteration of 2v8 is now LIVE - find out more information here: https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/kb/articles/480-2v8-developer-update

Why is this community so god damn toxic?

It doesn't matter what you do, the toxic players always show how low they are. If the killer doesn't follow the Survivor Rulebook it gets nasty

Example:

  • Mori = DC
  • Protecting almost finished gens = toxic messages
  • Hooked twice in a row = toxic messages
  • Strong killer add-ons = DC and/or toxic messages
  • Killer plays fair = toxic messages and/or constant teabagging
  • Killer has a bad game = toxic messages
  • Survivor unhooks two seconds when the killer is about to leave and the killer returns = toxic messages
  • Play a strong killer = toxic messages
  • Survivor uses flashlight to blind a killer on a pallet multiple times
  • Survivors hook bomb you and call you then a camper & tunneler

and so on.

Seriously, this community for most part is just disgustingly toxic. Sure, killer players can also be toxic, but out of 10 toxic survivors you may get 1 or maybe 2 toxic killers. Personally I don't consider moris toxic. They're just a bit annoying to a certain extend. But mostly they are thrilling to go against. I also don't consider flashlight saves toxic, but I do consider constant blinding toxic.

On the other side I see nothing, absolutely nothing, from BVHR against this. Why? They need to finally condone these actions. It hurts the game. On the other hand we have streamers who became Fog Whisperers and some of them try to talk sense into the community. Unfortunately there are still toxic FW and they shouldn't be allowed to continue being a FW.

Funny side note: Here on the forum most players seam to be really nice guys/girls. But in the game they show their true faces. What can you do, right?

I urge BHVR to finally speak up on their streams (e.g. Developer Updates) for the health of this game.

Because it's 4 vs 1 and most people are sheep; what I mean is that it only takes one salty survivor being toxic for the rest of the team to start being toxic too. That's the way most people behave if you look at it from a sociological point of view.

I feel you, Ive made posts on Reddit about this very same thing and I get toxic messages on there, to even add a couple more:

Walk away from the game, or becoming afk, harassing messages.

Running a low level killer first time, adept build, as a low rank gets harassing messages.

Make balance or rework suggestions, harassing messages.

Literally, just playing as a killer gets you nothing but harrasement. If/when this game dies down, I will blame toxic survivors.

  • They try and make it passive aggressive too a lot of the time, whatever they can say to juussst barely get away with and not get banned. Since they know it takes only extreme stuff to get banned lol.

Survivor is bored of the game

    Decides to be toxic

Killer becomes angry over toxicity and is toxic to the next bunch of survivor

Bunch of survivors become angry over toxicity and are toxic towards next killer

It's basically a never ending cicle of toxicity, that's why we must force to show a good example no mather how much it costs you

When I see a survivor calling a killer trash or for him to "dc in real life" I tell the survivor to shut up and give some words to encourage the killer to be nice and how amazing he did, they usually thank me, and I thank them for staying nice

Well toxic people don't stop when it comes to the killer. Usually they also message other survivors and if they die it's everyone else's fault.

Today I played solo survivor and first game was against a Hillbilly with a pure slug build. Being a slugging Bubba I know what Billy wanted so I kept running away from everyone else and repaired generators literally on the other side of the map. I ended up getting chased about 3 times (won every chase with no injury as he kept trying to chainsaw me), repaired 4 out of 5 generators and opened a gate.

Result: 2k with about 4 hooks in total. Guaranteed depip and almost no bloodpoints.

Just because of me it didn't turn into a 4k at 5 gens yet I still got messaged "YOU LIKE DOING GENERATORS, DON'T YOU? YOU'RE SO BAD".

Even explaining the situation is completely pointless as people don't want to accept they died because of their own mistakes. I even told them Billy wanted us to stick together for easy slugs which is why I kept running away from everyone else repairing generators while they were slugged.

They replied "you could have picked us up he was chasing the team on the other side of the map". Well yeah... That person who got chased on the other side of the map was ME and there was someone else picking them up all the time anyways so if I hadn't repaired them generators we all would have died at 5 gens.

Long story short: Toxic people usually insult and blame the killer AND EVERYONE ELSE just so they don't have to accept that they themselves are just bad at the game.

Basically, certain people like DbD to be a power fantasy and they get upset when it's not.

In 3 years of playing this game, ive had plenty of toxic messages from survivors. I have NEVER received abuse from a killer, i know there are killer players out there who are toxic aswell but for people to try and compare the 2 is ridiculous. One side is so much worse than the other

Because the game is very competitive with no room for casual play, so it breeds a competitive and toxic environment.

And there's very little repercussions for being toxic, the reporting system just doesn't work and no one gets banned, the game being super cheap also lets people be toxic, and when they eventually get banned after 10 years they can just re buy it and go right back too being toxic.

On PS4 you can report all toxic messages. Even someone calling you a noob will earn them a warning. After enough warnings they get a chat ban and if it continues a Playstation Network ban which cannot be appealed (they lose all their games! Think about that for a moment).

I report all toxic behavior and take pleasure in it. And yeah, it's always the survivors. I've never ever received a toxic message from a killer.

Survivors are pretty helpless, compared to almost any other videogame. Feelings of extreme helplessness creates anger.
