Has anyone been messaged about a perk you used and got yelled at for it. Or maybe praised? If so which one yelled at, praised or both?

Yelled at: Head on, Windows of Opp, Sprint Burst/Urban/Fixated and Borrowed Time

Praised: Unbreakable, Kindred, BT, Spine Chill and Adrenaline

You can tell each scenario if you want. Also all of these, 80% of messages were from survivors.

Not using Borrowed Time comes up often. Unsafe unhooks are frustrating for everyone.

    Most recently:

Yelled at for: bloodwarden (thought i was hacking), no mither (being a liability)

Praised for: bloodwarden (really intense endgame for both sides), tenacity+unbreakable (4 slugs turned into a 4 man escape)

Yelled at for using all of Feng Min's perks: Technician, Lithe, Alert. (bemoaned me for not using perks like DS, Dead Hard, BT, BL, etc... Said I was wasting perk slots).

Praised for using Spine Chill... (because it's useful since the "Undetectable" updates and against Spirit.)

Sigh... Whatever, I wasn't good at skillchecks at first, so Technician helped me at least 50% of the time, Lithe is a decent escape perk, and Alert makes sure I know where the killer is for at least 70% of the time... Spine Chill was just icing on the cake in case I did come across stealth killers. Seriously, the toxic entitlement of the other so called "survivor mains" reminds me about why I stopped playing MMORPG's like WoW, or SWTOR... If you joined a guild under any role, they immediately told you how to build it and how to play it, and if you didn't they ostracized you for trying to be unique, or discover things they might've overlooked. To hell with that BS, I stick to my guns in this game and Play builds that I want to play, and how I want to play them. Anyone who disagrees with that has lost sight of part of what makes this game fun, and they can blow it out their asses for all I care. I play to have fun and try new things, and if the builds work for me but not for others, and they don't at least try to understand "why" while berating me for my perk choices, then their vulgar opinions amount to little more than the "kids I drop off at the pool" once a day.

I can remember only one instance, but I remember a Claudette telling me to not use a useless Perk again.

    It was Spine Chill.

    She used old Left Behind.

    We both escaped.

    You put the pieces together.

Yeah i see what you mean. I haven't played WoW but other games like ESO i was told how to play what spells and such. I was the healer, get yelled at a lot.

Old left behind? While i have my thoughts on some perks. They shouldn't be saying stuff like that. Maybe they though Old Left Behind was a great perk. Or maybe they wanted an achievement.... I don't know why I'm depending this person.

I had someone try to help me when I first played Wraith. He said not to use insidious because it’s basically built in to my cloaking. I didn’t believe him, thinking that even though I’m invisible, survivors could still hear my terror radius.

I felt so stupid after I realized that they were honestly trying to help.

i got yelled at by someone because i was using plunders and ace in the hole, only because i was a claudette and “claudettes shouldnt be running luck perks”

needless to say but i was confused

Always think its funny when survivors criticize my perk choices after I successfully kill them. A recent one was saying it was dumb to use BBQ on a scratched mirror build.

  • LordGlint
    LordGlint Member Posts: 8,685

The FoV values arn't stackable. The only reason to really do this is if you want the TR reduction from monitor with the CONSTANT FoV from shadowborn due to monitor's FoV increase only working outside of a chase.

  • Elk
    Elk Member Posts: 2,267

I think it's funny when survivors criticize my non existent perk choice after they escape. At the end of one game a survivor escaped with DS and messaged me "typical BBQ tunneling killer" 😕

Wasnt calling you stupid, alot of ppl just dont know the smaller details to many perks. I know some ppl who would HAVE to use shadowborn on many killers due to getting headaches without the FoV increase. I remember one streamer who would allow for fan builds, but shadowborn was a MUST when playing nurse for example.

  • Elk
    Elk Member Posts: 2,267

I'm just playing :D It's hard to voice opinions from just text. I think i know that streamer, because i heard that one before. Well if not the streamer then the Shadowborn part.

Was thinking of Scorpionz. I know shadowborn is pretty manditory for Umbra as well though for the same reason.

Another perk combo I was berated/yelled at for:

    Franklin's Demise, Lightborn, Overwhelming Presence.

I was playing Pig, when the the Survivor team (4 man SWF btw) queued up with 2 flashlights, and when the others switched at last second to 2 more with flashlights... I knew I had made the right decision. This was before the current versions of Flashlights when your entire screen went pure white, survivors could blind you in 0.2 seconds, and blindness lasted for about 5 seconds with the best add-on's. Naturally my build countered the Hell out of their "favorite toys/tactic", and the match was quick because they all ended up DC'ing one after the other within 20 seconds of each-other about half way through the match after they realized I had built to counter them. Lots of salt and anger in the post-game chat, and yet they had the audacity to try and convince me that I was "wasting 3 perk slots" along with slanderous assumptions of my ethnicity, sexuality, gender, and religion (of which I took ample screenshots for my reports). Normally, I would've agreed with them about wasting perk slots, but in these circumstances... seriously?

  • Elk
    Elk Member Posts: 2,267

Probably Umbra,I don't know Scorpionz, so it could be Umbra.

  • LordGlint
    LordGlint Member Posts: 8,685

I highly reccomend ya check out Scorpionz sometime. The guy is a Piggy main with like 7k hours and will have you convinced Piggy is really good, lol.

    Hes also pretty chill.

  • Elk
    Elk Member Posts: 2,267

They just got mad, because you didn't let them have 'fun' which was, torture the killer. Also white background flashlights?! Geez. I get more crazy threats when i play killer, so that's a reason why i stopped. I still get them as survivor. Survivors need to chill. Killers do the same, but in my experiences its survivor who yell.

  • Elk
    Elk Member Posts: 2,267

A okay! I haven't seen a piggy main streamer before.

  • shalo
    shalo Member Posts: 1,535

I was told I was using a crutch perk, Ruin. They all had BT, DH, and DS.

There's usually a good conversation when I use Franklin's, survivors don't see it much and they call out each other for stealing their stuff.

I once got yelled at for using no mither in combination with selfcare, inner strength and fixated. Some people dont understand memes i guess xD

As killer I got yelled at for using franklins a lot.

I had a time when I ran beast of pray almost in every build. I got many many messages :D

I have been "Reported" at least three times for using Franklins because someone had a key and they also had the addons to they didn't lose it on death. Apparently it's a) Trolling and b) exploiting.

Been running wraith with sloppy recently and i get both praised and called out for using "TrU3Ta1ent's build"

  • Elk
    Elk Member Posts: 2,267

Well it's not his build. I think people will slowly in time make their own builds that become the same as others, by the perks descriptions or other ways. Also don't listen to those weird ones. You have to 'win' some how and using Franklin's is just as fine. Even if people get mad.

I get told sometimes that i use some streamers build and i never heard of him. It was Quick and Quiet, Dance with Me, Head On and Iron Will. I just use it because they sound good together.

If they do that they are 100% scrubs and the most you should do is just laugh at them. If they complain anyway.

I've been complimented on clutch BT saves where I sacrifice myself, and funky killer builds like stealth doc.

I've been yelled at for "abusing" DS when the killer genuinely tunneled me and instantly picked me up like a dummy, and by other survivors for not having DS to justify their garbage no-BT save for them.

There's only a few perks I get annoyed over.

Urban Evasion because people take that perk as permission to do ######### all or leave people on hook while they inch their way over, despite the killer being busy on the opposite side of the map.

Self-Care, because it absolutely pains me to see how many times people spent massive chunks in the game doing nothing except self-caring. Run a goddamn medkit, or at least Inner Strength does something of value for the team AND is faster. Self-Care is the team-killer.

Plunderer's Instinct, which is basically just a completely uncounterable key 1 in ever 2-3 matches. That perk literally went from "get good items to use" to "how often can you get a really cheap escape with no counter?"

No Mither, only if they go down fast (let's not kid ourselves, they always do.) It's nice that you think you're good at the game or something, but when you plainly aren't it sucks that the whole team loses because it's a 3v1.

Object of Obsession. Absolutely disgusting, game-breaking perk, and the people running it know it. More often than not I'll bleed them out on the ground. You want to ruin games, yours can be ruined too.
