You can’t differentiate DC and game crashes?

I keep seeing people saying they got game crash DC during load screen and they get a timeout for it, WHY?

I thought the whole point of needing to do this on dedicated servers was because they can tell if it’s intentional or not?

The reason the penalties are in place only on dedicated servers is because it allows them to track which players are the ones dropping connection, not because they can tell why the connection is being dropped.

That said, they are able to detect when players leave a match through the menu as opposed to crashing or their internet going out. What they can't detect is whether it is intentional - that is, whether the player left the game on purpose. That includes closing the game or pulling the internet cable. They can't tell the difference between someone switching off their internet to bypass the disconnection penalty and someone's connection to the server just dropping out through no fault of their own.

Basically, apparent crashes and apparent network errors are punished the same way as leaving the match through the menu because otherwise players would just use those methods to easily bypass the penalty. It's the right decision, in my opinion - the only problem with it is that the penalties escalate way too fast as they currently stand and don't take unintentional disconnections into account, meaning that a couple of accidental game crashes or internet issues could get you banned from the queue for upwards of an hour.

Survivors have a bad habit of getting connection issues when "secret" offerings are used by the killer.

TLDR survivors dc during the loading screen when killers use a mori, this is the result, and punishment.

I understand that, I’ve actually stated before that all offering should be severely to avoid this. Does it really matter to you if the killer is using survivor pudding? As a killer do you care if the survivor uses 100% more altruism offering? There is really no reason to show them except maybe Bloody party streamers in case people wanna go a bit easier or even farm I guess

My concern although it hasn’t happened to me yet (knock on wood) I did have a few infinite loading screens earlier this week And I it happens 3-4 times and I get a long timeout it is really going to sour me to this game and the devs in general... and I’m not alone.

Believe me I want DC penalties more than anyone but the infinite load screen shouldn’t be punished.
