Thank you Devs for doing what needed to be done in the end.
I know that the ongoing bugs may have initially deterred you from implementing the penalties on the players that DC, but this has been a long time coming - and no amount of bugs can stop the fact that certain players abused DC far too much for it to be funny anymore.
No more excuses for X thing for a DC now, which is finally a relief to my eyeballs. Just wanted to take the time to thank the devs for giving me one less thing to get angry about when I'm playing Killer/Survivor from now on. At least dying on first hook still gives Killer the progress that they need toward pipping as part of sacrificing, as well as preventing Survivors from going into what was a losing from very early on towards the start of a trial if a player simply didn't like playing against the Killer, e.g. Legion Scapegoat Epidemic.
I'm just hoping that the tests will prove as positive as I hope for them to be. 😁

Can only agree with this
DC's are the worst

Dc's are the worst, But honestly..I think feedback on WHY people dc should be happening as well..I know for MYSELF not saying for anyone else, But myself if I'm tunneled off the hook x-amount of games in a row then yeah I do start Dc'ing once I'm death hook.
But then again there were challenges in the Tomes for not being hooked while having spine chill so people were dc'ing once they got downed. There are many reasons, but there are also people who do it just because.
I think if we look at it, as a whole maybe then we might be able to change things and make them better. But thats imo.

I want the stats when it ends. because now killer survivability is going to tank since their previous stats did not include games with DCs. So a HUGE amount of the overall games were never accounted for when putting out kill ratio stats.
I just suicide instead of DCing anyway. Now i see even more people first hook suiciding instead of DCing. If a lot of people follow suit, this will now cause killers to have a much higher kill rate, which i'm going to assume will lead to even more nerfs in the future because they base everything solely on stats. gg

Unless something major happens they should keep the system in place.

I'm guessing that's why the devs will likely plan a list of how long each offence will put the player on timeout for, like giving DC-ing to give somebody hatch or DC-ing due to slugging, etc (checking the reasons why that way).

It's literally a 2 day trial, lol
There's no way to separate who DC's for whatever reason. They will all be treated the same. Unless they implement an internal demo recording engine to literally record all movements in game. A DC for being slugged will be treated the same as a DC to give hatch.

I am also of the same opinion. However, I do feel that the stats will stay the same for the reason that you noted: people will just suicide on first hook and that is still a sacrifice (although it is one that helps out with your emblem progress at least).

I stated that I'm aware that these are tests in the last line.

According to another thread, the basement bug has returned.

Is that three times now?

yup

OOOOOOOOOOOOOOF.

I'm going to need to keep an eye on any DC penalties. I play on PS4 and in around one in three games I get the message, "An error occurred in the following application. CE-34878-0". Meaning that I may need to accept being punished through no fault of my own and hope that the punishments aren't too harsh.

Does anyone know if the DC penalties apply if someone closes the application during the loading/offering screen? Then it would punish people dodging moris/map offerings as well. And I guess last second switches from survivors too.
1 -
It's probably not everything we'll ever need, but definitely a big step.
1 -
I'd agree if it wasn't for the fact it can be avoided by killing yourself on hook.

You're good. Those types of DCs aren't treated the same iirc. The disconnect sound will happen without the noise
1 -
This will be a failure. I give it a month tops after the penalties go live and this forum will be flooded with whining topics to revert back to the no-penalty policy.

tbh dc cus of a map or killer(also giving hatch) is understandable but dc due to first down , first hook nd etc is dumb.

Ah, I see. Well that's very good then. Thanks for informing me.

Deal with it?
Like. It sucks but that's the game sometimes. No point in hurting your team mates or denying points.
0 -
No it's not. Don't want a map? Bring a offering.
As for killer? It's literally the game. If you want to go against a specific killer then play kyf or f13. The point of dbd is to experience different killers and matches.
Learn how to play against them

Seems not everyone is happy with it.

I'm just happy that people will be punished for rage quitting when they get downed once. It gets pretty annoying after a while.

God i hope so.

Until they fix being FORCED out and new bugs EVERY single time they do an update then no. They have bigger priorities than people DCing. This also doesn't stop killers from lobby dodging. Let's not be one sided.
0 -
They weren't trying to fix lobby dodging. Completely seperate issue. They are trying to slow down the selfish crap that happens once the game starts.
I honestly wish they'd just remove the leave match button from the menu anyway. If you have an emergency and need to leave its just as easy to dashboard or power off.

What he's saying is that dodging is also a problem, while DCs are majority survivor sided. It does happen by killers but no where near the amount for it to be causing a problem. While getting dodged creates a longer wait time for the person(s) dodged.. Because in my exp once the killer leaves the lobby, it normally bugs the lobby. Leaving the killer spot forever vacant and the system wont load another player. Ive Never had a killer dodge and another killer take their place. I have to leave the lobby and requeue.
Removing the leave button would be fine. If you really need to leave you and you don't know how to shut down whatever system youre on, you shouldn't be playing a game lol

My in game name is "Wraith=DC", but that's just reverse psychology, I want them to play wraith

I like how y'all are acting like this will magically stop all DC's. Sure, they'll probably go down in a noticeable way to someone like Peanits looking at the stats, but if y'all think you (as people that get salty when someone DC's) are going to notice any sort of difference at all, are sorely mistaken.
Even the knowledge that someone else is having to suffer, because they ruined your game, is only going to last for so long, before you're back to getting an anger debuff every time you can't complete a challenge do to a Disconnect.

That seems like a coding problem. If the game isnt hosted by killers and there is a 5 person lobby then if a killer leaves another one should take it's place. If it glitches that's something devs need to fix. You cant punish people for something that happens before the game starts that's caused by bad programming.
The only way to fix wait times is to either bring many many more players of all skill levels in. More people playing means, hopefully more killers and lobbies. Cross play between platforms may help.
Or remove rankings and let everyone play with everyone. Hopefully that won't happen.

For killers to leave while the match is loading up is DCing OR when they see survivors with certain items or a SWF group is quitting plain and simple because honestly what's going to stop it? Having teammates DC is annoying I will admit and getting into a lobby after waiting for so long just to have a killer say "Nope" is irritating as well.

Dcing while game is loading should be punished. But if you get into a lobby and don't want to deal with 4 blendettes with toolboxes and leave them for someone else, why should that be punishable? If the que system works as intended then another killer should pop up. If it doesn't and the libby glitches, then thats on developers not the killer.

"If a lot of people follow suit, this will now cause killers to have a much higher kill rate, which i'm going to assume will lead to even more nerfs in the future because they base everything solely on stats."
The kill rate will be the same. DCs count as kills, so whether someone dies on hook or disconnects there is no difference, the end result is the same.
Plus, both scenarios will cause the match to become 3v1, and the killer will have the same advantage, so no extra kills there either.

"IF" and it doesn't, at least not on console. I asked a killer why he lobby dodged and the cocky sob tells me it's none of my business AND that he would've still gotten the 4k. This game has a tendency to boost peoples egos beyond belief and it's really annoying when you run into cocky people like that. If games didn't take ten minutes to find a game then it wouldn't be as big of problem but yes, lobby dodging IS a problem.

DC bans are fine, but not when they include the loading screen ones. Nobody dc's there on purpose, always and only when the game crashes. How about fix that, b4 you do anything further?
