Why didn't Rin's mom become a spirit?
why?
She had reason to be a spirit, why didn't she?
1-she was killed by her husband (normally the spirits onryo are wives of samurai who kill them)
2-he killed his daughter
3-the Yamaoka family code was broken .
I have 3 theories:
1-it seems that Rin's mother was sick (maybe from a terminal illness? I don't remember it) and she simply didn't feel a grudge against her husband because maybe she felt like "freeing her from her suffering".
2- Maybe he felt that his daughter's fury was bigger and he just let her finish the job.
3-Rin's mother became a spirit and torments her husband, only that they are not really in the world of the entity which means that they are outside the realm of the entity.

Doesn't Rin fill both roles? I mean she can appear as her mom, too.

Indeed, I'm still waiting for my granny survivor to be added.

Geriatric killer in a wheelchair when?
As for why Rin's mom didn't become a Spirit, who knows. We know the Entity didn't really have any plans for Rin's mom other than to be the catalyst which allows it to reach into the world and take Rin's dad. Originally, Rin's dad was going to be the Entity's next killer, but saw greater emotion in Rin's rage and thirst for vengeance, which turns into more sustenance for the Entity, and thus chose Rin instead of her father.

It says she was just a girl when she died. Also, I was more talking about survivors

Ace, Bill and possibly Jane should all be over the age of 40.

Ace and Bill aren't girls though. And I think Jane is probably 30s

Maybe she was just sad and not angry, like she knew that this wasn't really her husband's rage and that even though she died to him she didn't feel like it was her husband killing her.
