DBD has a all in cost of $113.96 not including $10 skins so it could easily be in the $200 range with those skin prices the way they are.

It's the industry not this game specifically. Look at the new COD. The skin packs are anywhere from $10 to $20 for 1 single outfit or whatever. Its ######### ridiculous, I only buy DBD skins cuz of how much I play and to support BHVR.

Alot of those DLCs can be bought with shards though. I've been using shards to buy whichever killers I CAN use em on since Legion came out and plan to KEEP doing so. Ill throw afew bucks into the game if its another licensed DLC thats cash only, but my shards tend to just collect dust for the most part otherwise.

Yep. regarding the base game is at what, 20$? with all the free maps and at least killers to go against, that's pretty cheap for a game with this amount of content. And you don't even need to be THAT patient. I don't wanna imagine how much effort I would need to put into the game to be able to master all killers. That comes one by one and once you managed to master one or two killers you are ready to buy a new killer with iridiscent shards.
And for survivors, they are really just skins. You don't need to buy 5 survivors just because of the skin (the only thing that baffles me a bit that a new survivor almost costs the same like a new skin)

I will admit I have almost 100k Iri Shards, and I want to support the game so I spend real money instead... but I don't buy everything in bulks unless I REALLY want something.
You don't have to have everything in the game you know. That's your choice.

When I bought the game, I got most of the licensed ones. The only two original DLCs I bought were Curtain Call and Spark of Madness, because I felt like doing it. Otherwise, Flesh and Mud + Shattered Bloodline + Darkness Among Us + Demise of the Faithful + Cursed Legacy, 10 characters unlocked with shards over the span of 1 year (?), without considering most of the DLCs this year were licensed.
It really is doable if you do ut overtime.

The console versions come with the Flesh and Mud & Spark of Madness DLCs that the PC version doesn't.
Since the DLCs are $10 each, that makes up the difference.

about comment about 9k shards for each character <shrug> because you will play every killer with lvl 1 and every surv (which are only skins) sooo <shrug> at least in this game you have way to get it for free

Fallout 76 wants 18 Dollars for the power armor skin "blue".
And you are not forced to buy it. You even got a bunch of rare skins for free a couple of weeks ago.

At max I've spent £30ish including auric cell pack buying. And seeing as that's over two years I'm pretty impressed with how much mileage I'm getting outta that

Ok compare it to other games to be fair then.
Lets look at WoW for instance $40-$60 game you have to give $15 every month just to be able to keep playing. Plus they sell mounts/boosts to high levels and so on...(Then buy the next expansion for $40-$60 and repeat every 2 years or so)
Look at games with rng lootboxes/packs like Halo/NBA/Madden/Overwatch...
Look at rainbow 6 which is on its 4th $30 season pass since release...(They also lock characters off for a short period if you buy the dlcs outside of passes) also has rng cosmetic lootbox packs
DbD has a very good monetization system if you look at the overall state of the industry.

I have 4K hours and have only played for 2, almost 3 years. Maths seems pretty stellar to me.

I've gotten every non-licensed killer besides oni with shards, and Adam and ace with shards. I've also bought every licensed dlc besides the saw chapter (maybe on my birthday?). I have 750ish hours in the game, I feel like I got a good value out of the game, and I may actually have too many killers to play now, since I bought spirit with shards last night and the ghostface and stranger things dlc on sale a few days ago. I usually try to play a different killer every match.
Forgot to add the price total of what I've bought on pc, so now it's like 10 for the base game, 24 for all the dlc because I bought them on sale (stranger things, ghostface, halloween, nightmare on Elm street, leatherface). 34$ for 750 hours? I may have to go buy some cosmetics too.

I've just unlocked my last killer (oni) as of last night. Haven't worked on survivors yet since most 'meta' perks are free and therefore are just skins :P
