Is there any reason to rank up?

I play this game for at least 3 months and I just can't see a clear reason to rank up. Some can argue that ranking up gives you more experience, since you fight killers/survivors that are in your skill level and you can also be proud of being such a good player, but the matchmaking isn't the best and you can easily get, as a killer, higher rank survivors.

So what is the real point of ranking up, and if there is none, what can the devs do in order to make it something that the player wants?

as a survivor you can improve against some competent killers

as a killer, you sweat, you stress, you swear (that's optional) and you learn to hate the game

Well one reason for ranking up is to not be with players below your level.

Another is an achievement. (Hey, your title asks for "any". 😜)

Other than that, i myself don't even look at my rank, i immediately go back to the main menu after i finish the trial, complete some Bloodwebs, and then start a new lobby.

there is reason to rank up to green/purple (to not play vs baby killers/survivors)

but there is no reason to be in red ranks (well if youre not "competitive" player, youre getting punished for being there)

Survivor side the biggest benefit is MAYBE your teammates are more competent compared to being in green and yellow ranks but honestly anymore I get some really bad teammates even at rank 1-2

Other than that there is no reason to rank up, but if you’re good enough then you will rank up anyways unless you purposely depip yourself.
