Do you agree Huntress needs a slight buff to her wind up??

I just ran a Huntress around a single unsafe pallet for a gen and a half while she tried to throw a hatchet at me, and she couldn't.

I think she deserves a small buff to her wind up time so she has a little bit of help against the smaller loops.

Hitbox on hatchets is just bad add to this bad angles she can throw hatchets and u got pretty bad ability + u cant throw hatchets thru bushes and even smallest branch will block it. pretty bad skill. Windup dosent play any role in this you will be able to dodge her forever cuz of her slow move speed.

Her windup addons are nowhere near where they were during that though. When the devs decided to nerf that, they went through with a sledge hammer... Both addons were nerfed HARD and tinkerer was completely reworked. Wish theyd just make it so addons dont stack if stacking addons are the problem.

It just feels like there's something holding her back from being a great killer. She's not bad, just not GREAT.

It happened at the killer shack too, by the way. Every time she would try to line up a shot, I could easily dodge it because I know the timing of her wind up.

Edit: This was a green rank Huntress facing all red rank survivors. Maybe that factored into it as well. But she didn't seem too bad except for the fact that she focused on me for far too long.

Yeah, it's dogshit maps holding her back. Her wind up could use a small buff though.

maybe buff her movement speed when she’s winding up her hatchets by like 2%?

  • SlimyTaco
    SlimyTaco Member Posts: 133

No, I think that is a terrible Idea. She is already strong. Why the buff?

She sucks at certain loops. She spent an entire gen chasing me at an unsafe pallet, then another at the shack and couldn't do anything.

I know she should've just left me for someone else, but the fact she can get looped AT THE SHACK is a bit ridiculous, given what her power is.

Huntress is supposed to excel at the shack game, must've been a bad huntress.

Then the Huntress was just pretty bad.

nerf her hitboxes first XD so shes not throwing giant trees with metal in them at you

I would agree if it was only on console were Huntress is harder to play, but it does not work like that. And about her hitboxes sure they can be generous, but sometimes axes I have thrown right on the survivor has gone straight through them and they escaped unhurt so..

She can struggle with certain maps or specific tiles, but in that example you mentioned that's 100% a player problem and not a Huntress problem. Huntresses that refuse to just force a pallet with M1 when it's the right choice to do so are very easy to run for ages, and all they need to do is mix it up and sometimes just lunge through the pallet.

  • i think base ability of her needs buff bacause addons having decent amount of stats

but iridescent hatchet should same as current one

so faster base wind up and a bit faster with wind up addons

Doesn't this just mean the Huntress you played was bad in general? Usually as Huntress you either do the Hatchets or you M1 or mix and match. This just sounds like a inexperienced Huntress trying to do Hatchets.

Not only that they let you loop them for that long.

Sorry bro, that means you arent playing her right. She excels there. That's a YOU problem.

Fixing "God" windows would buff all killers, but especially Huntress, because she's the only killer who can get looped for the entire match around these buildings. She's very mediocre right now because of the very bad map design, but somehow, people still consider her a top 5 killer.

While it is true that Huntress can deal with shack rather easily compared to other killers, there are several loops and maps in which you are mostly a 110 killer whose power reads: "Recover from melee attacks slightly faster" or even worse "You have no power, hold W for 15 years and eat that pallet", Coldwind loops and indoor maps would be the best example.

Changing maps would be helpful, but a buff to something such as wind-up speed so that you have an opportunity to throw in those loops is easier as it applies to all maps and does not limit map design as much.

Alternatively, other things could be changed that would also increase the amount of opportunities for a throw, namely: Increasing Huntress' movespeed to the default of 115 or decreasing the movement penalty during a wind-up.

Her hatchets are good as is. She's not supposed to be able to use her power at every single loop.

I think she should just be 115% movespeed, period. Her power does not justify her being slow the way the Hag's and the Spirit's do.

Yes, she needs a buff on that, not a "god buff" but a small buff to his wind up.

Some huntress buffs on the PTB wpuld be nice, as 115% or something like that.

I wasn't playing as her, I was the one looping her.

It's possible. I've just noticed a lot of Huntresses have this issue. Could just be a console issue 🤷.

That huntress was bad, why didn't she just m1?

And no, maybe when we fix huntress broken hatchets hitboxes, maybe yes ;)

Most of the issue with hitboxes is latency. However i have seen the occasional BS hit.

She tried to M1 after she threw the last hatchet, but since she lost her bloodlust, she couldn't catch up to me.

    I wouldn't mind that change.

There are 2 hitboxes around her hatchets, 1 small one for detecting a collision with an object and a larger one for detecting a hit on a survivor. I'd like the smaller collision one reduced a little more to improve the reliability of hatcheting over objects. It feels like too many times they collide with the invisible barrier of an object or wall that reaches further than they do visually and makes looping her a little too easy.

I don't think she'd need a buff on that based on a Huntress who played bad.

  • DocFabron
    DocFabron Member Posts: 2,410

I've just noticed it seems to be an issie with most Huntresses. But it could just be a console player problem.

And if anything, the buff would just be she gets her brown wind up add-on in her basekit. Nothing too severe.

She definitely needs SOMETHING. As things are there is only a handful of maps she can work with and they're mostly maps with very poor map design (farm maps, some versions of autohaven, crotus prenn).

I think it's about time she becomes a 115% killer, especially with how slow she moves while charging hatchets and how damn LOUD she likes to hum that lullaby.

I mean from your description it sounds like you were facing a bad huntress or just severely outplayed her. I don't think she needs any buffs at all, that is a example of healthy counter-play in which you outplayed her. She assumed you would drop the pallet and if you did, she would get a hatchet hit in but you never did and so she slowed herself down at a single unsafe pallet. If the Huntress was good they would probably just fake a hatchet and immediately swing forcing the pallet drop or getting a hit in. If she were to buff her then she could ignore unsafe pallets and hit you without much counter-play. Considering how frustrating her hatchets can be with their log sized hitboxes, I would imagine a lot more frustration would occur when she can hit you around a corner as you try to loop at a unsafe pallet.

What she doesn't have in her Wind Up, she more than makes up for it in her hatchets' hitboxes.

All Autohaven maps are good for Huntress. She can use her hatchets at nearly every loop, a side from the Wretched Shop structure.

115% would make her insane. You'd almost be able to do nothing at many loops. You fake the pallet? Doesn't matter because she's 115% now and will catch you regardless. All she needs is map changes, like many other killers. Maps like the Farm and Game will likely be changed relatively soon, and that in turn will help many killers out, including the Huntress. Her power is too strong to give 115% to when the issue isn't her power, but the maps.
