Nemesis is cool but I rarely even use it now. I didn't even buy Yui because I didn't like her perks.

I see Nemesis occasionally but never the others. Ive only seen Breakout like twice and both were with swf.

Ive also seen Blood Echo on a few Plagues.

They don't want to add strong solo perks right now. Their main goal -seems- to be making perks that synergize with other, older perks. Nemesis is a prime example. On it's own, basically useless unless you're an instadown killer. But with perks like Pwyf and dark devotion, Nemesis can truly shine.

I don't but I don't usually run perks that can be easily countered and mostly every survivor perk has a counter

It's hard to use non meta perks as they're hard to even get going against the opposing side. Maps, structures, teammates, the killer, and even the placements of gens can screw with how well or useless your more fun perks will be.

The devs also seem to make more perks to fit playstyles amd builds rather than to run them alone.

Steve's three perks can combo with Kindred (Camaraderie), an unhook build with BT and We'll Make It (Babysitter/Second Wind) or healing build (Second Wind)

Nancy's Better Together pairs well with Prove Thy Self, a stealth build/scratch mark influencing build (Fixated) and locker build with Head On/DS/Quick and Quiet and assisted by Small Game or Detective's Hunch (Inner Strength)

And those are just two examples. I think the perks they push out are okay for what they're meant to do. Hell I even saw someone using Lucky Break with Iron Will the other day and that worked well for them. I myself have found fun with Breakout with Mettle Of Man. It was fun even if I died.

I honestly believe I’ve ran the same four perks playing as survivor for the longest time I can remember. I buy DLC characters mainly for cosmetics and just somebody new to look at. Beyond that their teachable perks are easily forgotten as they’re woefully inadequate compared to build I run.

I rly enjoy playing Any Means Necessary, I found that fun, the problem is that it's rare to use and if I use it (feels good hehe) then it goes for long cooldown.

The perks allow for more options honestly.

Lucky Break + Lithe + Dance With Me

Second Wind + Borrowed Time + Deliverance + We'll Make It

    Inner Strength + Head-On + Detective's Hunch/Small Game

Better Together + Streetwise + Prove Thyself

    Fixated + Sprint Burst/Lithe

    Babysitter + Borrowed Time

Not every perk can be meta, but they all have a use.

inner Strength has been the best survivor perk in.. a long time though.

The new Perks are nearly always not good enough to make it into Perk Builds. BHVR is afraid of putting in strong Perks, this is a fact. Killers have it better here, because they get some Perks that might be useful on some Killers or can be an actual pick. Different playstyles make the same.

    Just looking at the Chapters:

Bamboozle (and later PGTW, after the Buff) are solid Perks. Spirit Fury as well, Haunted Grounds was also somewhat decent. Discordance is solid, Iron Maiden at least used on Huntress. Corrupt Intervention is good as well, Infectious Fright useful for some Killers. Demogorgons Perks are garbage, Thrilling Tremors for Ghostface is a really good tracking Perk, Im all ears is useful as well. On Oni, Nemesis can be used with PWYF, Blood Echo might be a pick on Plague (even tho, there are better Perks for her).

On the Survivor Side, when comparing all the DLCs: Kate-->Nothing..Adam-->Maybe Deliverance, Diversion for the LOLs...Jeff-->Nothing. Jane-->Head On for the LOLs. Nancy-->Inner Strength, but not good enough overall... Steve-->second worst Perks in the game tbh... Ash-->After MoM-Nerf, garbage Perks...Yui-->No good Perk.

I mean, yeah, there were complaints that Breakout might become a problem, but come on... Only because a Survivor Perk does more than "nothing", does not mean that it will do anything compared to Meta Perks. The only somewhat useable Perk is Inner Strength, but again, cannot compete with Meta Perks (why put Inner Strength when Adrenaline exist?).

As said above, Killers have it better here due to different playstyles, but I nearly always see BBQ, Ruin and PGTW in Perk Builds. But at least they have some more variety than Survivors.

As Survivor, you just need to have the Basegame and Halloween DLC and you are fine. When you only play Survivor and dont care for having all of them, you dont need any other DLCs for the Perks. And this is kinda sad.

I really wish BHVR would create more strong (yes, even VERY strong, but not like old MoM) Perks so that there will be more variety again (and what did they do? Nerf BL so that Survivors have one Survivor Perk less to pick...)

I've tried using any means necessary, but it's so rare to actually use it in game. I even pair it with empathy, and even then I still rarely get to use it during a match. The other two Yui perks don't do anything for me, unfortunately.

If you're going by different playstyles then there is decent content on many survivors.

Dance With Me is used effectively by people who prefer to juke and escape chases than loop for 10+ minutes.

Diversion has quite the fanbase of people who like messing with the killer.

    Jeff was a bit #########.

Head On is pretty damn strong now that it actually works.

Inner Strength is excellent and allows you to heal yourself while actually being a contributing team member. Fixated is rare but I still do see people running it.

MoM is better now than people give it credit for, Flip Flop is definitely strong if you want to run a saboutage/anti slug build which can even be effective as a solo survivor in wasting a lot of time and getting a solid amount of points.

Steve and Yui have all come with some hot garbage.

The issue with survivor perks is that they've realised it's going to be very difficult to release another second chance perk, and generator speed perks basically can't exist right now without being worthless or OP. Many survivor players have the mindset that anything that is not an extra second chance = ######### perk, and that's simply not true.

I use the pallet perk a lot. Got a lot of mileage out of it. It's like DS though some games it's god tier and some games it's useless.

Also dropping god pallet as a joke to people at the start is hilariously effective at keeping shack pallet up for you later game. I can only imagine the face of the person who watches you do this. When they run away I set it back up.

It’s hard for them to come up with something that will replace the meta BT, DS, etc.

If they out our something better then what? The next chapter they need even better, and within a year it’s stupidly strong. Killers would complain they can’t even get 1 kill in most games.

This applies to killers as well. They get gen slowdown, but morning to clearly replace Ruin, if they did it would be whined about until nerfed.

They make really weird stuff that no one will use outside of meme builds.

New survivor perks are interesting, but old ones are stronger thus nobody uses new perks.

I think what the devs are focusing with the new perks (last 2-3 chapters) are builds, not necessarily to be strong or their own. They are releasing a bunch of perks that combo great with others e.g. inner strength+head on/ds/q&q, fixated+sprint burst + 2 other gen jockey perks, breakout+mettle of man, wglf, bt and so on. This at least for me breaks up the meta a little bit by providing options of fun new full builds to play around with.

nemesis, blood echo, breakout are all perks I use tbh. If I want to meme, I'll use any means necessary too, (admittedly breakout usage is kind of memey too) but the others I don't really have a use for personally. That's 4 out of 6, which makes this a very successful chapter for me.

    johnmwarner Member Posts: 3,793

Yeah, once I get to rank 1 I don’t care about winning every game.

Im Actually gonna screw around today with some breakout, mettle of man build I’m sure it’ll suck but whatever

  • SunderMun
    SunderMun Member Posts: 2,789

It'll suck, but if you get to make it happen...it'll be worth it; it will be fun! Basically what I began doing after hitting rank 1, and I still maintain it anyway. I'd rather lose the rank tbh though; games up here aren't fun.

And in this region for killer, every game is a red rank even if you're new...no joke, I remember getting almost exclusivelyred rank teams at rank 13 when I was relatively new to killer. Made me realise I have to try and have some fun with it or I'd just have to quit the game since the sweat is real.

I use all of yui's and only blood echo on Oni

I don't follow the meta, it feels like I am trying to eat a cardboard box when I use a meta build

I use them to have fun or do different random builds. None of the recent teachables are meta or anything like that. But, they don't need to be. The devs shouldn't design killers or teachables to become meta on purpose

I run Breakdown on Yui and will run Lucky Break on Ace and Any Means Necessary on Adam. I really don't care about efficiency over just having fun. And these perks fit those characters personalities the best.

I use Babysitter + Distortion quite often, Better Together + Prove Thyself, and Breakout + Mettle for when I'm horsing around. My wife and I play 2 petrified oak, Saboteur on that last and I get her to put on Boil Over. Never works (we don't play well) but it's a of fun to die trying

Just leveled up Yui. I had a lot of fun with Any Means Necessary last week. I played against a no pallet breaking Myers and reset the same pallet twice, my teammates got good use out of it. I plan to do some runs with empathy and break out but it's difficult since hooks are so close to where survivors go down most of the time. The shrine and rift are also encouraging iron grasp and agitation. Perhaps with a hook distance offering it will be more viable.

I’ve been having success some games with Blood Echo. I’m mostly just tired of seeing every survivor using Dead Hard.

I like Nemesis and Play with your Food. It's a pretty nice combo. Sometimes I use Fixated with Sprint Burst. But all in all, the new perks don't seem that great or at least they're not enough or worth it to be replaced with other Meta Perks.
