Are there any no-ruin killers here?

... Because honestly I'm feeling kinda isolated right now.

I still remember when I opened a thread asking how ruin was important in killer builds and most of the responses were negative.

So... I suppose I should say "No-ruin users rise!" or stuff like that?

I haven't used it in awhile but yeah I substituted it for corrupt intervention and then devour hope as a totem perk

Every time I've tried, the gens are done in under 5 minutes, the gates are open in under 6, and even with a 2-3K, I get entity displeased.

Thank God... All this blackmailing was making me sick.

Like, I haven't seen such a negative response like this ever!

Me! me! I only use ruin when learning a new killer.

Depends on the killer. I don't think anyone should have 4 perks they use regardless of killer.

Ruin kills a lot of Devour Hope's chances to shine, so i won't use it.

Good to see we're quite numerous apparently. Maybe we can bring some little positivity in this disaster.

I rarely use Ruin. The only time I did was during double bloodpoints. Weasel was better in the long run.

Haven't used Ruin for months now, been doing pretty well without it. I used it as training wheels, then got better and started feeling comfortable playing without it.

I don't use it but understand why it's used and it's not because of Gatekeeper.

I don't use Ruin on any Killer that has high mobility, Wraith, Legion, Billy, and Oni.

You are blackmailing BHVR to derank and, quoting you, "make survivors life as miserable as possible" even to the point of deranking to make newer players suffer... How do you people even live knowing that you're taking your frustrations on innocent people that didn't ask for any of this...? It legitimately makes me want to cry.

I don't use Ruin or any other gen slow-down perks. I'm not great at killer or anything; I just don't like using them.

I run Beast of Prey, Distressing, BBQ, and Whispers. So, my priority is pretty obvious.

Ruin was a staple for me. Given these changes I will be using different set ups across the board.

Ruin crutch perk lol are you one of those who think BBQ op? ridiculous. Prepared for being NOEDed? that's what survivors want dont them?

I don't play ruin and my max rank was 4 as killer but I see why people complain.

I didnt use it because of me not having a single lvl in Hag. But man getting close to green rank killer really makes you want to.

I don't run Ruin on most killers most of the time. Honestly I usually regret putting it on because it gets destroyed so fast.

Only killer I really use Ruin is Trapper but that's only because I don't have Corrupt on him. Also Huntress because the only viable build for her at high ranks is BBQ, Nurse's, Whispers, Ruin.

My main build for my main killer, Spirit, is Thana, Sloppy, Dying Light, Stridor. It's actually way more effective than having even 3 Ruins IMO. On Freddy, probably my second main killer, I use BBQ, Discordance, Pop, and Thana. Don't need Ruin on him at all.

Sometimes I use it on Nurse if I'm not feeling like I'm playing well.

But for the most part, like 80% of the time, I avoid Ruin.

Don't care, the crybaby survivors are the reason ruin is getting nerfed in the first place. I'm going to give them something to cry about, and I hope every other killer does the same. BHVR caused this, not me.

I only use Ruin on Tombstone Myers but tbh this change looks bad. If it last the whole game it could be strong in 3 gen situations and if you get in that situation it's going to be unfun for survivors even more so than it is now.

However past that it's weak unless there's a catch aside from regression on gens not being worked on. I don't believe it shouldn't be a Hex perk but I feel like on paper it's looking pretty bad. I'll have to wait for the PTB but i'm more interested in the gatekeeper changes honestly.

This won't make you feel better, trust me. You're taking revenge on players that probably didn't have nothing to do with this. If anything, this is a chance to improve altogether

Yes there are, in fact, nearly every killer in the game is going to be a no-ruin killer now, because the perk is TRASH.

I'm not a killer main but I play fairly often. I only use Ruin when I have very few perks on either a new killer or a prestiged killer. There are so many better, more consistent and funner perks to choose from like PGTW, CI, Whispers, STBFL, BBQ, Nurse's, etc, etc

I guess Plague with BBQ/IF, Deerstalker, PWYF, Nemesis, Black Incense and Vile Emetic will be a very good non Ruin build.

You don't know me, this is going to make me feel a WHOLE lot better. Misery loves company, and if BHVR is going to screw over this many killers, I feel it's only fair to let the survivors feel the pain too.

    I've never relied on Ruin.

My go to anti-gen setup is Dying Light and Pop. They work well enough, but with the gatekeeper change ranking up as hag will be even easier than before because the loss of gens at the start aren't going to impact the emblems as much.

Dying Light is going to replace Ruin.

What if they changed decisive or adrenaline horrendously to the point that it's not even worth using anymore? Plus, there is a major difference between survivors and killers. It does not matter who you play as for survivors, you're just a skin, however killers do matter, more fun killers needed a few extra seconds and or a minute to even be able to use their power properly. Now that it's changed, there's going to a lot more Freddies Hillbillies, and Spirits, since they can get around not having ruin much easier than someone like Leatherface or Trapper.

THIS ! ( nothing personal about that player ) If you are not in the high ranks and brag about not using Ruin , your point should not be taken into account, when you enter the lower ranks 1-6 , then you see why it's needed. I don't count on Ruin to stay all game or anything , just enough so i can do my first chaise and have a hooked person so the other 3 stop playing HOLD M1 Simulator 2020 Edition. This change means now i have to buy the Plauge so i can put Corrupted Intervention on literally every killer i play and spend millions on blood points to do so. ALso as a person who hate's slugging i will need to start doing it ... or maybe just quit the game , enjoy your 40 minutes queue times, they are bad now and will be even worse after those changes.

I'm a non-ruin killer. I want to EARN my victories not have them handed to me on a plate because the survivors took too long finding it. Not running ruin also means you can't blame losing ruin for your losses.

Good riddance to one of the worst designed perks in the game.

    I rarely use it.

I'm not accusing anyone of it but I noticed that for myself it made me rely on it and think a game was automatically over if Ruin was cleansed early, so I simply stopped using it for the most part.

Works for me. Win some and lose some, but I must be doing something right as I still hang around in red ranks.

I don't use it on Billy. And I can play Nurse without Ruin as well.

For the rest of my killers I like to use Ruin.

Back in August 2019, I hit 1000 hours as killer and decided to switch roles to survivor for the next 1000 hours, of which I have only accomplished 339 hours of play. The thing is, during my entire campaign as killer, I hardly (if ever) used Ruin. Even so, I had to acknowledge that at the high ranks the only killers who had a chance of competing effectively without Ruin were the high pressure/mobility ones, and not the killers I usually liked playing. Still I was able to pull off victories without Ruin for about half of my games using the less mobile killers, but often became so frustrated that I purposely started using instant-downs and Ebony Mori's in order to de-pip to the less frustrating ranks. It was about that time that I decided I've had enough fun with killer, and it was time to switch over.

This Upcoming change to Ruin has brought up a paradoxical situation for me to consider: Do I continue my 1k hour campaign as survivor, or do I go back to play killer because I have developed the skills to be decently competitive at the high ranks without it?

The devs have stated that 80% of killers in the red ranks use it, but they don't seem to have really thought about the real reason "Why" they use it: At those ranks, even a team of solo survivors are better at coordinating their attack on objectives, have all of the tools, skills and knowledge of maps to be more optimal at looping/routing while completing said objectives, and can easily get 3 generators done in the first 100 seconds of a match before the first survivor gets hooked. Ruin slowed down that speed, gave survivors an alternative objective in order to get the gen speed back to normal, and provided killers enough time to build up some momentum. It isn't so much that killers actually "WANTED" to use Ruin at those ranks, It's that they felt they "HAD TO" in order to compete.

I purposely chose not to use Ruin, because I like playing/winning at the hardest difficulty. I used Plague, Doctor, Clown, Pig, and Legion way more than I used Nurse, Spirit, Billy, and I didn't use Ruin because I felt that "If you have to rely on any 1 perk in order to win, then there's something fundamentally wrong with your skill." So I got decent at playing without it. However, if the statistics are to be believed, I can't imagine many other killer mains will be patient enough to develop these skills since most players just want to have some casual fun in the game, and Ruin was a way for killers to do that without getting too frustrated. I fear that with this change, People like me who don't rely on Ruin will be needed now more than ever before, because I don't see many killers in the high ranks purposely staying there for very long, and now I feel Obligated to try and fill in for them as best as I can.

You become a three perk killer with no ruin in 30 seconds sometimes. Does that count?

  • aerafield
    aerafield Member Posts: 47

At the higher ranks you can still win consistently without ruin... if you play with "scummy builds" like a slugging build instead.

I got sick and tired of using ruin and playing against it every game and I always asked the devs to shake up the meta.. but in this case it's safe to say that the meta is just gonna shift to different annoying strats like slugging, basement camp, hardcore 3-gen build etc etc

I 3k+ nearly every game as Billy with BBQ/Enduring/SpiritFury/Bamboozle. Ruin's a n00b perk for n00bs, git gud and stop relying on crutches.
